Holy crud - the bit with Ben Franklin is priceless.

I would almost guess his mechanics will be a lot closer to the original way he showed up and got him here. Other than moving around on the rubber and changing perhaps that position. "Proper mechanics" or versions of that don't always fit everybody and apparently did not in this case. I will guarentee you that this is not the way it is going to happen. No way in the world that the Brewers are going to nurse this guy back to health only to go back to improper mechanics. I know his family thinks he had great mechanics because they "worked for him" and that this injury was solely due to his mechanics being changed. I do not buy that for a second. I know Thunnis will come back with something that fits into his belief system, but I am not of that belief, and hope that Rogers comes back in 08 with a clean arm and a method of throwing that not only works well for him, but allows him to throw freely and with the lowest risk of re-injury - and his old motion definitely was not that.

Is a Slap Lesion the same thing that Mike Jones had to have repaired? The name is familiar, and daunting. Edit: Answered my own question - yes, this is the same thing that Jones had done, and I have included a snip from a 2005 article with Batman and Will Carroll, in which Carroll describes the injury as baseball's "most fearsome" One of the organization's most promising young hurlers, Mike Jones, has suffered through a number of serious injuries during his tenure as a Brewer. You described his latest, a SLAP lesion of the labrum in his pitching shoulder, as "baseball's most fearsome injury" 8 and one from which "only a small percentage of players ... are able to successfully return. 9 Does Jones have a chance to be one of those in that small percentage? I hope so. Jones has some great stuff. We're learning more about labrum injuries and even seeing some returns (and odd side effects of those returns.) I think Jones has a great chance because of the organization, just how good he was (at 80% of his former self, he could still have value), and because Jim Rooney and his minor league staff really understand what's going on. It's going to be difficult and I can't give any sort of percentage of his chance of return, but I will say Jones has hope. Just a couple years ago, he'd need to be thinking about a new career.

www.nbc.com/The_Office/ The Producer's Cut of last night's show - just so awesome - about 15 deleted scenes - some of which are crucial and hilarious - not sure how the editors could leave some of them out, but then this show could easily be 40 minutes every episode - just chock full of goodness. This is my favorite show of alltime - just edging out my love of Mork and Mindy when I was 8.

Here is a website that provides a nice overview for a variety of stats, as well as the Game Score stat, which does a pretty darn good job of evaluating starting pitching performance. www.stathead.com/bbeng/wo...ossary.htm Game Score (from the site is the below quote) GS = 50 + 3*IP -2*(H+R+ER)-BB+SO + (+2/each full Inning completed starting with the 5th) Bill James invented this pitcher's per-start metric as a response to the adoption of Quality Starts, which James felt were too coarse a measurement for evaluating the quality of a pitcher's outing. Game Score is a useful rule of thumb, since it is calculable from a box score, but it is not sabermetrically precise (e.g. strikeouts are weighted twice as much as other outs). It is commonly thought of a measure for how "dominant" a pitcher was in the game (sometimes colloquially known as "Ryanicity" since Nolan Ryan and his multiple no-hitters were among the best Game Scores measured). Kerry Wood's 20-strikeout,1 hit shutout in early 1998 was the highest Game Score ever recorded for a 9 inning game coming in at 105. A variant of Game Score includes a -1 penalty for HBP and Balks, though this gets away from James's original intent, which was to have GS calculable from the items in a typical box score pitching line.

Ryan Braun Profile @ Project Prospect
molitor fan replied to adamf214's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
That article was delectable...my favorite part was this - hope it is accurate: Braun might be more suited for the outfield because of this and his troubles with footwork, but there?s still a good chance that he?ll stick at third base. In either case, he certainly has the potential to be an above-average defender. -
Brewers talking with Jeff Suppan
molitor fan replied to AJAY's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
I think the 24 hour thing isn't in the cards First, isn't in the Cards is a very notable pun, good form split, though I am not sure it was intentional. Secondly, if our resident insider foamboy says he would be shocked, that means my 7 parts educated guess is more like 7 parts bullpucky, because foam is rarely incorrect. -
Brewers talking with Jeff Suppan
molitor fan replied to AJAY's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
My comment is one part stirring up excitement and 7 parts reading Melvin's tea leaves. It just seems the progression of information coming out from the jsonline and mlbtraderumors is giving the look of something moving on this. I certainly have no inside information other that reading every bit of Brewer-related information like an FBI profiler reads a crime scene. -

Braves-Mariners trade: Ramirez for Soriano?

Manny Ramirez in Miller Park 81 games a year?

Cubs reportedly make offer for Manny according to mlbtraderumors.com: A Cubs source e-mailed that Chicago has offered Matt Murton, Bob Howry, Sean Gallagher and Donald Veal -
I disagree, I think we need to keep Pending. You just don't deal good speed.

What about Craig Wilson?
molitor fan replied to JohnBriggs12's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
I like the thought too, as Wilson's career OPS is the same as Carlos Lee's, with perhaps a bit better defense. -

Zaun maybe coming to the Brewers?
molitor fan replied to yoshii8's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
This article asserts that Zaun is deciding upon offers from the Red Sox and Yankees, and that Rod Barajas is the new starter for the Blue Jays. Quite an array of comp picks coming to the Rangers. www.globesports.com/servl...eball/home -
Zaun maybe coming to the Brewers?
molitor fan replied to yoshii8's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Zaun's splits do not make a lick of sense.... Not sure of this a move, especially if it is the contract mentioned, but given the market right now, it might be a value.
