  1. Hader was 0 WAR this year. You don't get a haul for a reliever. That said, the 2 prospects we acquired are really exciting. We finally traded for a high OBA hitter!
  2. Who cares? With the days off in the postseason you don't give starts to the back up catcher, and I think Caratini will prove to be our best catcher. It's also a sneaky way to get Feliciano big league experience without burning service time.
  3. I like the Hader trade. I also hope we aren't done. I'm cool with being a seller, as long as we're also a buyer. Trading a closer is always a smart move. They get overvalued.
  4. It all depends on the quality of the offers. Have we ever seen an actual offer?
  5. This is all measurable, and the impact of a K instead of an out in play is almost inconsequential. IIRC, 100 Ks cost you 1 run. That's nothing.
  6. Were they a well run organization when they acquired him? He's a good player, and the Dodgers would have kept him off they didn't have so many other OF options already under contract. He'd be a good option for the Brewers.
  7. If the ground balls are going for hits, the hitter would have a better OPS. They don't. Hiura has a better OPS than most, despite his strikeout rate. Quality of contact is more important than simply putting the ball in play.
  8. It will be easy to justify an increase in payroll when the money is being better invested. Paying Devers $18 million next year is way better than the $28.5 million wasted on Cain and McCutchen.
  9. I doubt he repeats AA, his struggles were caused by a hand injury, which is finally healthy enough for him to get a boost to AAA. He's still an awesome prospect.
  10. Brice Turang has played a little CF this year and could become an option for the big club. They might consider Turang either way, to fill the Jace Peterson role. Hopefully he stays hot and becomes a more exciting option.
  11. Teams that K less ground into more double plays.
  12. Id be fine with dealing Narvaez instead of Severino, assuming a more interesting return. Who cares that Severino isn't post season eligible, Caratini would start every game in October. It would also be a sneaky way to get Feliciano big league experience without racking up service time.
  13. Keston didn't suddenly start hitting well, they just finally starting playing him versus RHP. He's always been good, just misused. I really don't get this boards sudden obsession with increasing the teams groundouts.
  14. Ramon is also a low average/OBA guy, but not as good defensively in CF as Taylor. I don't care what type of hitter we acquire, as long as they're productive. More ground outs is not a priority for me

  16. He does play CF, he plays it well, and would make a good platoon partner for Taylor. Give me Gallo and Bell, plus maybe 1 more reliever.
  17. Clear upgrade over Taylor? Taylor has outplayed him so far this year. It's possible Ramon has a resurgence at the plate if dealt, but the trade will do nothing to upgrade our defense.

  19. No, that was his sophomore year. Ray was 36 BB/41 K his draft year. Not a red flag, but his 933 OPS should have been a huge red flag. Brown is a better prospect than Ray ever was, but neither should have been our selection. Brown was drafted largely because of his willingness to sign well underslot.
  20. Yes, Wagner should have been the obvious selection, if we weren't searching for increased ground outs.
  21. True, but the same in that they simply weren't as productive as players are traditionally when selected in round 1. Way too much obsession with how a player gets out, instead of how often a player get out, or the total bases gained when reaching base. The things that amass OPS. The Brewers don't score enough because they don't have a high enough OPS. Ryan Braun had 55 more Ks than walks in college. Should we have passed on him?
  22. That's what a lot of posters said when I criticized the Corey Ray selection, while they thought he was the next great thing. He goes down as the biggest bust in franchise history. My issue with Brown is the same as with Ray.
  23. I wish we had picked a hitter in day 1, but I like what we did in day 2. With that many high upside picks, hopefully we can find a Big Leaguer or 2.
  24. I see absolutely no questioning the front offices moves related to pitching. We've been winning with the best pitching in franchise history. However, we haven't been to the WS because we have a mediocre offense in our best recent years. It would be disingenuous not to question moves relating to the offense. We need to raise our MLB OPS. Are we drafting players who will do that? It's worthy of discussion.
  25. Misiorowski is ultra exciting. I wouldn't be excited for Moore in the 10th round.
