  1. My P50 beef du jour is how Luis Pena ever fell off the list. I'll admit I only noticed after his ridiculous outing last night, but it isn't like he was stinking up the joint before that. I assume he'll be back. Well, if Pena can make A+ by the age of 24, and carry an ERA over 8, lose some movement on his fastball, get rid of the depth and drop on his slider, and stop commanding his changeup, he should be perfect for the #20 spot on the P 50. Just like Khalid Balloulihttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  2. If Berkman is dissapointed his brother-in-law wasn't drafted by his organization, I think the solution is simple. Berkman is a FA this offseason, you figure it outhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. DHonks is right, Bowman is very nice. It'll take plenty of $$ to sign him, but it looks like picks 1-4 will be quick, easy signs. That will hopefully leave enough cash for Bowman, Chapman Leclerq, and Morgan.
  4. I'm in love with Jose Guillen. I just can't help it. Wow. No, don't you remember what everyone told us? He's a one hit wonder they said. Is he still a one hit wonder? If X were a GM, Guillen would be making me look genius.
  5. I like the fact the Brewers took high end pitchers, all of whom have good movement on there fastball. I was disapointed they didn't grab a postion player in the 1st 4 rounds, because history shows its your only decent chance to land one. I'm esctatic they did't blow draft choices on low ceiling college AA fodder (like Jaramillo, who's the next Matt Walbeck) untill Sollman in round 10.
  6. The Brewers don't need a 5th starter intill the 12th, so I expect Hendrickson to be optioned as we speak. Capuano is eligible to return on the 11th, and he seems recovered already.
  7. I had always heard Hendrickson's fastball was 90-92? Tonight he was 86-89. His future isn't all that bright if thats all the harder he throws. While theres a couple of exceptions, righthanders rarely survive throwing puss
  8. Its obvious what has happened to Ballouli. He has cracked under the pressure of trying to justify his lofty P 50 status.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Hopefully, Toby can find a ranking the more suits him , like 51+.
  9. Just as many of us guessed, Kinney has added velocity since moving to the Pen. He hit 95 on the gun a couple times last night. Its a much better role for him, less thinking and more just gassing it out. " I like winning, its like , better than losing."http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  10. Doug Davis rocks , Laz Diaz is a lazy moron.
  11. Wow, what a horrid call in the 6th on a double play. I hope the Crew can overcome it.
  12. I've been as big on Bill Hall as anyone, but I don't consider it bad that Yost refuses to hand him a fulltime job untill he realizes the importance of drawing walks. Needing a hot streak to raise your OBA to 315 cannot be deemed acceptable.
  13. I think Jeff Bennett might be injured. His velocity was down yesterday, and he got the early hook. Kinney was warming up today in the 15th instead of Bennet when Hernandez was gassed. I would expect the Crew to add 2 pitchers tomorrow, and durrington to be optioned to AAA. I'd guess Santos and Wise to get called up, with Jason Childers being a longshot.
  14. Ginter needs to play everyday, but it should be in RF. With all the teams around baseball needing a 3B, wasting Hemls on the bench would be silly. Grieve should have been cut in spring training like the thread I started said. Ginter has never played RF, yet he'd be better defensively with pure hustle. As for Helms versus Ginter, Helms had a 780 OPS last year, Ginter 779, so there real comparable. Helms lacks movement defensively, but he gets to more balls than he gets credit for because he plays so deep. Helms is dreadful against the bunt, but he saved numerous runs throwing home with a runner on 3rd. Most 3Bs don't have the confidence/accuracy to do that. Ginter looks majorly bulked up, hopefully a Brewer is finally on the Barry Bonds workout programhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif .
  15. BTW, did anyone else notice Uecker call Ben Grieve "Ben Sheets" about three times during the broadcast? Somehow Sheets made a pitch that was hit off the wall in right to get thrown in to second by Ben Sheets. He must have been bustin' his ass to get out to right. Ben Grieve is so slow and so dreadful with the glove I wouldn't be suprised if Sheets did make that catch, it couldn't have been Grieve. Another ugly play by Grive tonight letting a gapper hit almost to him get to the wall. I can't wait untill that experiment ends, he's stealing Ginters atbats.
  16. just when I started to respect Yost's decision to walk Bonds...... he proves he was full of excrement The Brewers were up3 in this game, not 2, like the last time. That completely changes the whole strategy. This walk doesn't put the tyeing run in scoring position.
  17. The Indy boxscore shows Matt Childers with the save, but the article credits Jason Childers. Anyone know the real Childers?
  18. I'm sure he's a typical kid who assumes NFL glory will be automatic, but that was a foolish decision, especially when one considers he could easily go to a school that uses the trimester system and get a couple semesters in every offseason Page is a definate NFL player. He has the size/speed ratio to be a 1st day pick in the NFL draft when he enters. If he is picked in round 2 or 3, he would receive a signing bonus similar to what he would have received from the Crew. The odds of a 5th round pick in baseballs draft making the majors is very low.
  19. While Cruz's contract extension doesn't make him less desireable as a rule V , it does make him unwanted as a waiver claim to play in AA. Now the $$ the Crew gave him makes more sense, it seems this was planned all along.
  20. While it hasn't been made official yet, the Crew has signed Matt Erickson to a minor league deal with a spring training invite. Matt is 2B/3B and a native of ******on WI. He had an an outstaning season in the hitters paradise that is the PCL. He hit 342/442,463/905. Also, as you would expect , he's grittyhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif . Rumor has it he was fed up with the Florida organization after he didn't recieve the Sept. callup he was promised.
  21. That makes the Ibanez deal absolutly horrible for Seattle. Giving a 3/$12mill deal to a 30 year old OF coming off a sub 800 OPS season is bad enough in itself, but then throw away a 1st round pick?
  22. I like the addition of Mcgruder. He can play all three OF spots, hes plays like his hair is on fire, and hes shown steady improvement at the plate. It seems that switch hitters take longer to develop, hopefully he'll breakout this year.
  23. Were there any survivors from the DSL bloodbath, as obviously those players would be coming staes side next year.?
  24. The usual signing bonus the Crew gave out to Dominicans was $8,000. Top tier Dominican prospects get $1,000,000 from other teams. I wonder why the Crew couldn't find more talent there?
  25. What an outstanding series. I wonder after Pods domination this weekend, if Al will finally admit he's legit? Who'd a thought Royce Clayton would come through in the clutch 2 days in a row? A pitcher with the same stats as Ben Sheets but a different name would be considered average. A 4.28 ERA in the NL just isn't that exciting. The Crew is suffering some serious ripple effect in there bullpen. I'd like to see Matt Childers enter the mix. He reminds me of a young Mike Timlin, a big hardthrowing groundball pitcher. Doesn't strike many out because of a very average breaking pitch, simply relies on a low to mid 90s 2 seamer that has lots of cut and sink. Matt was good at AA , and has been outstanding at AAA.
