  1. Yes, it's really important that players ground out to shortstop regularly.
  2. Gallo has a 932 OPS with the Dodgers so far, meanwhile the Brewers have both Andrew McCutchen and Jonathon Davis in the lineup today versus a RHP. It's like we're trying to lose.
  3. Huge game today, and we have McCutchen and his 708 OPS versus RHP batting 4th. McCutchen carries an 077 career average versus Mikolos. Disgusting! Hiura was 2-4 with a walk in his lone start versus Mikolos, and had been far and away or best hitter versus RHP this year.
  4. The Dodgers didn't really give up that much for Turner considering Trea wasn't even the headliner of that deal. The simple thing to get Bell is to make a better offer. Considering what the rumored price for Soto was, Bell was pretty much a throw in. Beeter was the 15th ranked prospect in the Dodgers system. We have up our 18th ranked prospect for an injured guy who was free to sign with anyone 3 weeks ago.
  5. Trae Turner, Josh Bell. Also, Joey Gallo would have been a cheap roll of the dice that looks like his old self after leaving NY.
  6. If relievers are worth more at the deadline, then why do we acquire relievers at the deadline every year, and why did we not acquire more relievers in the offseason, knowing relievers are cheaper then? Why can't we find a real bat at the deadline every year if they're cheaper then?
  7. He's 22, what's the rush? Do you remember when Doug Melvin rushed JJ Hardy to the majors? That turned out to be a pretty big mistake. Why burn service time for a player who's not fully developed yet?
  8. Players have not streaks, but for the season he has an OPS around 750. That's not an MLB player that'll put you over the top in a playoff race. Most likely, he'd come up and struggle, and knock us out of the race.
  9. McCutchen's hot streak is over, he's a DH with a 719 OPS. That's just an unnecessary player. Doesn't matter though, Turang needs a ton of seasoning yet, he's not being brought up.
  10. Brosseau is incredibly important. He kills lefties. I wouldn't bring up Turang, but if I did, the most unnecessary player is McCutchen.
  11. His K rate is higher than normal. Today is the perfect example of him lowering his K rate, lowering his BABIP, but raising his OPS. Also, he doesn't need to compare to the majority of players, because the majority doesn't have his bat speed. He's going to continue to do uncommon things, because he is uncommon. Someone might have an incredibly high BAPIP this year, right? It is, I know because Hiura has done it before. Also, you continue to use the word "regress", but I think it's more applicable to use the word "decline". A player can have positive regression. In fact, that's what Hiura is doing this year.
  12. Acknowledging the games human element is now a strawman? I continue to find it fascinating that you are unable to hold a discussion without hurling insults.
  13. If Hiura replaces some of his Ks with outs in play, his BABIP will go down, but not his production. Your overstating the impact of his BAPIP, because he's simply not a common player. The fact that he's had a BAPIP over 400 in his only 2 normal seasons might actually mean that he'll simply be an incredibly high BABIP player. The real key for Hiura isn't cutting his Ks, it's to simply continue to make incredibly hard contact. Home Runs aren't lucky BABIP.
  14. Lol, Hiura is 25. If you understood analytics, you'd realize there is no baseline for him to regress to. His baseline has yet to be established. His improved numbers this year might be the regression. His career OPS is higher than what McCutchen is providing, and that career OPS includes a season that should be considered an outlier because of the human element. Stop repeating your misinformation.
  15. Don't call them the analytics crowd, that's a disservice to analytics. The fear of strikeouts is born more from the traditional baseball mantra than anything analytics suggests. The growing obsession with weak outs is hilarious though.
  16. Yeah, and I'm sure playing a season while his mother battled cancer had nothing to do with his decline. Way too be inhumane. He has an incredibly high BAPIP in part because he hits with incredible exit velocities, and he strikes out instead of settling for weak contract.
  17. The Brewers also would have been better off if the Phillies resigned McCutchen, as we have a clearly superior hitter sitting on our bench.
  18. McCutchen's best position isn't DH, because that position should be reserved for actual hitters.
  19. Also, he leadoff the 7th with a strikeout. We would have won easily had he grounded weakly to shortstop.
  20. Phenomenal. Getting HS developmental talents like Jace Avina, Kay-Lan Nicasio, and Reece Walling in the 14th round, 16 round, and UDFA is how you build serious minor league depth.
  21. It's a loss because he's been better than our 1Bs.
  22. OMG! It's happening! Go Hiura! No pressure, just slug 2 dingers or get benched!
  23. Good career numbers versus lefties, but he really fell apart versus lefties this year.
