  1. You act like Green is some undisciplined K machine that hacks at nearly everything while trying to jack home runs. The guy only struck out 59 times last year and walked 61 times, his overall plate discipline is a strength, not a weakness. As for saying the absolute last thing this team needs is more power, no team ever has to much power, just like no team ever has to much pitching. If Green ever makes it to the bigs with the Brewers as an everyday player, the fact he has some pop in his bat to go along with hitting for average/taking walks is nothing except a good thing. Plus, the makeup of any big league roster can change quite a bit in a year or two, when we would have likely hoped a Brantley or Green could have made our major league roster. Two years from now things could change to where there is a quite a bit less power on the team. Look at when the Brewers traded for Lee, Melvin talked about the need to add a righthanded bat with pop to the lineup because he felt the team was to lefthanded. Now this year, the team really could use a quality lefthanded bat. It's no lock Cameron will be back. Prince could be traded this offseason or next. Hardy could be traded this offseason or next. Same for Weeks and Hall. The needs or strengths/weaknesses of the Brewers two years from now could be vastly different than what they are now. So i see very little reason to care about anything except whether Green or Brantley becomes a better big leaguer, that's of course if either or both even makes it.
  2. I'd much prefer seeing Escobar spend some time in AAA, but i have a question for you stat fanatics? I don't read up much on stats, but i know what BABIP is. When you're talking about a hitter with great speed like Escobar has, he's going to beat out more infield singles than your average player who has normal speed. So wouldn't that have to be considered when talking about his BABIP?
  3. I don't get the constant yelling to fire the hitting coach we see nearly every year. I have a hard time believing that Skaalen wasn't regularly telling Corey Hart that his refusal to take sliders off the plate was killing his production. Some athletes simply don't listen even though it should be obvious that certain things they do hurt their production. It does seem amazing that Hart could keep stepping to the plate and swinging at the same garbage that even casual fans watching on TV knew was coming, but if Corey couldn't grasp the painfully obvious by himself, i highly doubt any hitting coach was going to get through to him. Last game was such a prime example. Myers is really struggling to throw strikes and just walked Hardy to load the bases. I said to my buddy, Myers is going to throw him a slider/curve off the plate, Hart will either roll over the ball for a DP or end up striking out. Everyone watching seemed to know what was about to happen except Corey as he swing at the first pitch off the plate for a DP. For a guy blessed with incredible bae running instincts, Corey has rocks for brains sometimes at the plate, hitting coaches can't give brain transplants. Pitchers have been attacking Hart the same way for over a month and even though they often make him look flat out silly at the plate, he just keeps hacking.
  4. No, he took an absolutely terrible angle on that ball just going from side to side and then realizing he had to go back too. He had the ball in his glove and took a terrible angle yet they ruled it a double. At least it was a somewhat tough play, all Weeks had to do was catch a simple throw that hit his glove
  5. Brew Crew Ball --- I was late to trying it out, but it's well done
  6. I agree with this assessment - and further strengthens my argument on why we should put Hart atop the order.Hart simply refuses to take walks, 27 drawn in 612 at bats is flat out miserable. (shortened quoted material --1992)
  7. Even if Hart is nursing an injury, how does an injury make a hitter swing at one slider off the plate after another? Corey has taken a pathetic 6 walks in his last 200+ at bats, even Estrada might find that as terrible plate discipline
  8. I didn't want Ned brought back this season and supported his firing, but for whatever reason, when i was watching the players/coaches celebrate, i thought about Ned and felt a bit bad for him that he couldn't at least have been in the clubhouse sharing in the celebration. Yost, for all his faults, he spent a long time here and nobody could question how much he cared and wanted to help bring back playoff baseball to Milwaukee. I also wondered what his emotions were watching the game, assuming of course that he did? Was Yost also able to see the team celebrating? If so, was it completely bittersweet? Happy for the players, but stung badly because he could only watch what i'm sure he dreamed so many times hat he'd be a part of, celebrating a playoff berth in the clubhouse. I tried imaging what my emotions would have would been the last 12 games and today if i was in Ned's shoes, but i don't really know. I'd like to think that all i'd want is to see my former players reach their goal, that said, i do think it would sting watching everyone celebrate and i'm only able to watch on TV.
  9. My only hope with Suppan is that whenever he starts a game, Sveum has a very quick hook at the first sign he's in trouble and/or the Phillies are ripping liners that just are lucky to be finding gloves. Either McClung or Villanueva have to be up quickly, Sveum being proactive so that the Phillies don't have guys on base with a big bat due up, but Suppan isn't pulled before it's to late because guys in the pen aren't warm yet.
  10. I don't know if i'm the only one who gets this feeling, but even though i think Ben is very happy for the team success, it seems when i see him interviewed that he wants a change of scenery himself. I doubt the team intends to seriously try to reign him anyways, but i question how interested he'd be.
  11. I was talking to my friend after that ugly ugly at bat today and couldn't believe i was saying this, but i'd actually prefer Gwynn was playing instead. I also thought about Nelson, but don't have any clue if he can play RF even half way decent. Nearly every at bat by Hart is the same story. Him hacking at one slider off the plate after another that results in either a K or him rolling over the ball for a weak grounder. His only chance for a hit is hoping he gets his arms out enough on a slider off the plate that Corey can bloop over the shortstop.
  12. I agree, but i'd have Torres at least loosing up from the start of the inning just in case Seth loses command, don't want to get caught trying to stall if he lets the first hitter or two get on
  13. I'd let Seth start the ninth, he's still throwing 96-97 every pitch, just have Torres warming up
  14. I badly want the playoffs, but people need to not forget to enjoy this journey of watching games in September that really matter Normally by August or sooner, Brewers games would be meaningless
  15. Great to see Seth come up huge yet again That guy took way to much abuse on this site, near half the people calling him McDung even though he was doing a solid job He seems to really like it in Milwaukee and has matured as a pitcher, Seth could end up being key in the pen for us next year
  16. Man, i really wish we had Gross or Kapler to play for Hart Except for the rare times he bloops or bleeds his way on base, the vast majority of his at bats are flat out ugly
  17. He used to drive me crazy, but now i find the nonsense he spouts off as amusing, especially if i have a buzz
  18. The best is when Bill says you can't pitch to so and so here, then if the guy is walked and comes around to score, he'll say walks kill you.
  19. Eh, we probably wouldn't hit him anyways. Bad thing is that inning was 2 outs nobody on base and the Mets string together 4 straight hits and somehow the Cubs catchers whiffs tagging Church who should have been out by 3-4 feet.
  20. Church was a dead duck at the plate and the catcher flat out whiffed tagging him
  21. How did the catcher miss that tag?
  22. I keep thinking it's going to be today that Braun heats up, but then every game it's all weakly hit grounders, shallow fly balls, or strikeouts. Never thought i'd see him slump this bad for so long, unless the injury is the cause.
  23. I badly want to make the playoffs, but i badly hope that doesn't come with Sveum getting a three year contract as manager. That was beyond moronic to hit and run in that situation. Between Sveum and his buddy Org at third waving in everyone, they both like wasting outs and preventing runs from scoring for us in vital games.
