  1. Man, yesterday was terrible. I got two subs from Cousins and their onions are crazy strong. Of course i ordered mine without onions, but as i opened my cheese steak sub at home, i thought i smelled onion which made me very angry because i was starving and i can't just pull onions off because the disgusting taste gets on the meat and bun. So i search the sub close and don't see onions mixed with the lettuce, i eat about half the sub when disaster strikes. A stray onion must have got mixed with the lettuce and i bit into it and chewed it, my gag reflex instantly kicks in. It was so bad, i was making gagging noises like something out of Fear Factor where a chick is trying too eat some pig @!*+, i thought for sure i was just about to yack. That damn single onion was so strong that i had to brush my teeth three times and then chew four pieces of Big Red gum before i got that horrid taste out of my mouth. I really really hate that so many places i get food from can't seem to grasp that no onions actually means don't put onions in the food i'm buying.
  2. I wouldn't want Turnbow as the strictly 8th inning guy, but i wouldn't have any problem if Ned used Turnbow in the 7th or 8th inning in some close games. I see no reason to think i should trust Mota more than Turnbow.
  3. My quick and tasty nachos are i take chips and cover them with lots of shredded cheddar, top that with taco meat and nuke that in the microwave. When that's done i put some sour cream on top with a few diced black olives. It's pretty much a meal in itself.
  4. For the really big garlic fans out there that might want an easy/quick marinade, my daughter and others who have tasted it for steak, Kikoman makes a marinade called roasted garlic terriyaki. When i grill steaks, i soak my daughters steak in that marinade and then just put some all spice on it and she loves the taste and it also makes it more tender. I'm not a huge fan of strong garlic taste so i don't use it, but when i've marinaded steaks for other people in that, everyone has liked it a lot.
  5. No kidding! That Fielder guy sucks too. We should trade them both! Badgerfan, there is no point even bothering with responding to nonsense posts like the one above
  6. I know Ron Walter is the biggest lawyer dolt that Kohl for whatever reason chooses to let have sizable say in player moves, the other guy is named Burr, i forget his first name. I believe Walter has the title of Alternate Governor, which puts him second in command to Kohl. http://law.marquette.edu/s3/uploaded/26019/ronaldWalter.jpg That's a picture of Walter, one of the brilliant cronies who thought it would have been a bad idea to go through with a trade two years ago for Boozer to the Bucks with Magloire and i think Mo Williams to Utah.
  7. I saw this posted elsewhere from SI, it's both funny and sad
  8. Nasty nasty nasty My mothers side of the family eats that, it grosses me out on two fronts. 1. Onions are pure evil, a plague on this earth. If i was allowed any fives wishes of my choosing, one would be to remove onions from the planet. 2. I tried one bite of the raw beef and the texture was enough to almost make me pull a Steve O from !%!*$@# and yack all over the place.
  9. I generally get quite nervous when Bush is still in for the 6th and 7th innings of close games, i wish Ned would be extremely quick tohave a relief pitcher up and ready to come in. Today though, Villanueva was cruising. He gives up a bloop hit to Dunn and then hangs a curve, that was the ball game and i can't blame Ned for that.
  10. The playoff hopes of both teams ride a lot on the young arms in each rotation. I do think the Brewers offense is pretty clearly better, but that Cueto seems to have scary upside to me. We have three young starters in Gallardo/Villanueva/Parra, they have Cueto/Volquez/Bailey. Given the importance of starting pitching, the health and performance of these six guys will dictate a lot for both teams.
  11. One reason i think that i've never really had any desire to get married is i've never really seen a long term happy marriage up close. All my relatives and my parents have either been divorced/remarried, some multiple times, or the few marriages that have lasted all the way seem passionless only still together because divorce after so long would be to big of a hassle. The two aunt/uncles that are still together haven't seemed to really like each other for ages. One have had separate bedrooms for maybe 15 years and the other couple bickers nearly non-stop whenever i'm around them. I'd be surprised if either couple had sex even once the last 5 years. The only couples i've seen in marriages that look happy are the ones on their 2nd/3rd marriage.
  12. The booing has been back in full force already this year. Yesterday it was booing Mota and Gagne. Today the booing was directed at Bush and they started on Turnbow ASAP as soon as he walked a hitter. I wasn't really paying attention while McClung was getting hit around, but i'm assuming he got booed also. The team has started out the year 6-2 and 4-1 at home, yet fans still feel the need to boo any Brewers pitcher that is struggling. It's moronic that this happens so often to our own players in their home park, what the hell is the matter with all these idiots booing their players?
  13. I stopped thinking pro wrestling was interesting around the age of 11-12, but as a little kid, i loved AWA big time. I still remember crying sometimes when i had to go to church while wrestling wasn't over yet. My favorite experience was seeing Andre the Giant live and him walking right past me, being stunned at how big he was. That same night Jesse Ventura slapped my hand as he went by, it's amazing in retrospect how something that minor could seem so cool back them.
  14. This ump has a strike zone the size of a napkin
  15. That's my thinking while leaning towards sending down Gwynn to get at bats. Once Cameron's 25 games are up, he'll play everyday, Gwynn won't be needed as a defensive replacement either.Little reason to have Tony just rot on the bench except for a pinch hit chance a few times a week.
  16. Big thanks to all who responded and for the picture sbrylski, now i know roughly where to try and get my seats and to completely avoid the first base side of the field.
  17. Hey don Billy Gillispie and did an amazing job at Texas A&M by taking over a team that was flat out horrid and didn't win a conference game, the first season there the team improved to 8-8 in conference play. They also had a couple of very highly ranked recruiting classes which is very impressive given the state of the program when he took over. Gillispie has given a lot of the credit for those recruiting classes to Buzz Williams, but sometimes it's hard to know the exact truth in the cases when any recruit signs with a school. Was the assistant more just the guy who got the players attention and then the head coach was more important in closing the deal or was it mainly the work of the assistant coach in getting the recruit to the program? Have you had any chance to find out if Williams was really the main driving force like it's been implied from what i've read in those very impressive recruiting classes that Texas A&M was able to reel in even though that program was a mess right before Gillispie and Buzz arrived? I ask because obviously being a good X/O's coach is important, but no coach can win if he can't recruit and if Williams is the great recruiter that i've read about, it gives me some hope that this hire won't be the disaster that many are assuming he'll be.
  18. I generally only attend 4-7 games a year and tend to sit in various parts of Miller Park depending on who i go with and who buys the tickets. I'm thinking about buying a multi-ticket package with a friend of mine, but we both have one thing as a key part of where we want the tickets to be, what part of the stadium gets the most sun during day games? One thing i loved about Country Stadium was with no roof, i could sit in the bleachers on a hot sunny summer day and bake in the sun for about three hours. My only frustration with Miller Park is whenever i seem to attend a day game, i'm in a section or area where the sun is either not on me at all or it vanishes after a few innings, this gets on my nerves. Is there a section of the stadium that i can count on not being in the shade for most or all of day games and early 6PM games so i don't have to sit there swearing because the sun is being blocked by the roof? Thanks in advance to anyone nice enough to reply.
  19. FWIW, i read a piece listing the top 25 recruiters in the nation and Williams was listed as one of them. Time will tell if that carries over here and if he can coach, but what Williams was apart of doing in turning around Texas A&M is pretty impressive.
  20. These kind of moves to keep things smooth in the short term can really backfire if Williams proves to be way in over his head. Think about it this way, Williams likely would have had a hard time getting a head coaching gig right now anywhere in Division 1 basketball, but Marquette hands him their job.
  21. If there is a God, i just want to throw out a big thanks to him for my great metabolism so that i can eat what i please and never have to find out what a Boca Burger tastes like.
  22. I'm with you there, 50 degrees is still crap weather in my opinion
  23. In certain cities and certain states and certain areas of the country, different sports are always going to be the most popular. In Wisconsin, it's Packers football that dominates. This is no just a Wisconsin thing though, there are plenty of other places in the country where pro football is king. In the south, college football and NASCAR dominates. With that said, don't underestimate the excitement for the Brewers in the Milwaukee County area. Just because some talk radio stations are still talking about the Packers doesn't mean the excitement for this Brewers season is low. Sports talk radio will talk Packers year round because there is interest, that doesn't have to mean though that local sports fans aren't amped about the Brewers, they are. We drew almost three million fans to Miller Park last year and i'd bet attendance is higher this season. If you want to look for an ignored franchise in Milwaukee by the media and fans, it's the Bucks, apathy has set in strong.
  24. I'll admit up front that i've never looked into it at all, but i question how a sport that relies so heavily on teammates all performing well during each given play for it to be successful, that a sabermetrics system could evolve anywhere near like it does in a largely individual sport like baseball is. I could see studying things like down/distance and what plays then generally work best at getting first downs. I also can see teams developing numbers to rate players that fans don't know about, but don't ever see a day that football fans are discussing sabermetric numbers for say nose tackles or guards on the offensive line. Even skill position players like running backs or wide receivers that put up actual stats are so reliant of the play of their QB, offensive line, and even the play calling of their coaches. A good pass rush can make corners look good and no rush can make them look worse than they are. There are so many things that happen in football that are out of the hands of individual players that can drastically skew their stats. Randy Moss was a perfect example of this. He played in a terrible situation in Oakland, his stats took such a nosedive that many thought Randy was in serious decline. One year later in a much better situation, he shatters records during an amazing year. A good pass rusher could have a great season with 15 sacks. The next season he loses the other good pass rusher next to him, thus faces constant double teams, and his sack totals get sliced in half. You could go on and on for individual players, the situation around them that helps make them look better or worse than they really are. Baseball players face none of that, except to a slight degree pitchers and how good/bad their defense is behind them.
  25. Football likely will never have a sabermetrics following like we see in baseball for one simple reason, football is to much of a team game compared to baseball. Sure there are plays in baseball that take team play, but it's mostly pitcher vs batter and fielder makes play or doesn't. In football, nearly every play whether on offense or defense needs almost all or all players to do their job properly or the play can fail. If an offense runs say a sweep play, 10 of the 11 players can do their job well, but if one guy misses his block, the play can be ruined. Football is the ultimate team game, put a running back behind a terrible line and he'll struggle to produce. A hitter in baseball needs only his own skill to succeed. Crunching numbers has some value in basketball also, but that is too more a team game than baseball which is why baseball works so well with stat crunching. There is no grey area to a batters OBP for a season.
