  1. I still remember when his dad Del Curry played for the Bucks, his kid inherited or learned that same amazingly quick release on his jumper. That's why you can see he's so hard to defend. When he catches a pass, he only needs a fraction of room to get that deadly jumper off. Over the years, generally the small school teams who manage to surprise and advance are teams that can drill three pointers. Get hot from behind the arc and it's the great equalizer in college ball. In that run by Davidson, they hit 4 or 5 three pointers in a shorts span. Suddenly, a close game was a 12-15 point margin and the Badgers were out of their element trying to play catch up.
  2. By the time the Badgers were down 15-19 points with a few minutes left, i wasn't closely watching or caring if Curry shuffled his feet given the game had already been over for awhile. That would be like getting angry because refs in a Packers game blew a offsides call with a few minutes left and the Packers were down by 24 points.
  3. I watched the same game you did and saw no bias from the refs. Yea Davidson was in the bonus quick, but the refs quickly called a bunch of fouls against Davidson and a few minutes later we were in the bonus. On the game the refs called 19 fouls vs Davidson and 13 against the Badgers. I didn't see anything like that UW/Michigan St game in the Big Ten tourney where the refs fouled out half of the Michigan St team. I never once was sitting there in this second half thinking, man these refs are killing the Badgers. I did though think man these dumb turnovers and allowing so many open shots is killing the Badgers.
  4. I usually respect you as a poster, but i can't believe you are going down this route and acting like the refs were cheating the Badgers because they wanted Davidson to win. The refs had nothing to do with the Badgers getting dominated this bad in the second half. That team took it to the Badgers and whipped their ass the last 20 minutes of the game.
  5. I really hope you aren't blaming the refs for this second half beat down. Davidson flat out has played much better than the Badgers have.
  6. I don't fully agree Davidson beat Georgetown, almost beat both N.Carolina/UCLA, and they are just flat out playing better than us. I really think this Davidson team could hang with or beat most teams in this tournament, they are legit.
  7. That short three point line is the great equalizer in college ball. When a team goes 8/12 from three, they are going to stay in the game vs a higher seed. The bad thing about that is these guys aren't just mediocre shooters that had a lucky half, they could keep draining bombs.
  8. It would be nice if these guys ever missed a shot
  9. Yea, but there aren't players charging the mound a couple of times each game. In a given season, you might see that 2-3 times a year for a team, not 2-3 times a night. Like i said, i kinda understand it in the minor leagues encouraging fights without saying they are. It's hard for them to draw large crowds and the vast majority of fans at these games enjoy the fighting. I've been to plenty of Admiral games and have yet to see a fight where nearly the whole crowd wasn't standing and enjoying greatly what was going on. Hell, i'm not exactly yelling hey stop that during the fights. For the NHL though, i just don't think the fighting helps their cause of trying to get better TV exposure. There will be a well played exciting game going on and then for whatever reason, two not very skilled goons drop their gloves and start throwing haymakers at each other. Sometimes it escalates to multiple players fighting. It just doesn't look professional to me when that happens and IMO hurts the sports image among casual fans. It's true most hardcore hockey fans don't mind the fighting and more than not actually want fighting to stay a part of the sport. I personally don't care either way that the NHL doesn't care about the fighting and maybe even if they stopped the fighting, it might not help hockey get more viewers on TV. Hockey isn't a sport lots of kids grow up playing, most sports fans don't fully understand the rules of hockey, and the strike badly hurt the sport by ESPN dropping it. I question if there is anything the NHL can do to get hockey back to the levels it was in the 90's where all playoff games were on ESPN and people were watching, even folks who weren't big hockey fans.
  10. I grew up loving hockey after as a kid they would replay all the UW Badgers games on channel 36 public television. I also used to be a big fan of the NHL, especially during the 90's with all the great playoff series on ESPN. Now though, i pretty much just watch and pay attention to college hockey. In my younger days i loved all the fighting that went on in hockey, probably because back then i loved getting into fights myself. When i see the fights now, especially the big fights with multiple players involved, i usually find it kinda silly and i see why many sports fans feel the same way. If hockey didn't want fighting, it would be easy to prevent, put harsher penalties for it like other sports do. Given pro hockey leagues doesn't do this, it's obvious then that they condone the fighting and want it in the sport. College hockey rarely has fights because they don't allow it, players fighting get ejected and have to miss the next game. I enjoy the college game better. Others pro sports don't have very marginally skilled players on their rosters who have one main job, to be the designated goon. Then again, i somewhat see why at least the minor leagues allow and support fighting. Go to an Admirals game and the crowds are small, but very few things get the crowd going and amped up like a fight does. It almost seems like there is a league directive to be sure at least one fight goes down per game to get the fans excited.
  11. In the last few weeks i had chances to attend Bucks games for free and i passed on them.
  12. If we can hopefully dump Redd and his terribly overpaid max contract, i'd be fine with drafting Mayo depending where our draft pick falls. I had a bad view of Mayo based on stuff i read about him during his recruitment, but i watched him play 4-5 times. He surprised me by how hard he plays defense and his willingness to pass the ball. Redd is a more skilled scorer at this point, but Mayo is a vastly better defender and vastly better passer given Redd struggles so much to pass because he always dribbles with his head down. Mayo is also a much better athlete and the Bucks severely lack athleticism. Ideally the Bucks win the lottery so they could draft Rose, but odds are that won't happen. I'd love to trade both Mo/Redd and would be fine with landing Mayo along with one of Collison/Augustin if we picked up a mid first rounder in the trades.
  13. They're not a good team, but dumping Redd's not going to make them any better. It's not his fault he's not good enough to be a number 1 on a winning NBA team, it's the role he's been cast in. And beyond that, the guys they need to dump, they can't dump. Mo's still up in the air for me. He's improved every year, but we haven't won with him. Is that his fault? I don't know. But Simmons, Gads....those guys aren't going anywhere. I guess we just have to hope that we get a impact guy in this draft, or that Yi can turn into a real impact player. Here's hoping that Beasley goes to the Bucks after we luck out and win the first pick. I don't agree at all. At the very least, one of Mo/Redd has to go and if i had my way, i'd shop both of them very strongly. The biggest reason by far that the Bucks are crap and have been crap for awhile is they aren't just a bad defensive team, the are an absolutely terrible defensive team. Last year the Bucks finished as the second worst defensive team in the NBA, they are the same this year, only Memphis has been worse. You simply can't consistently win games when you allow teams to shoot 50% and above so many nights. The biggest reason for the horrid defense is Mo/Redd are both terrible defenders. Neither guy stops dribble penetration at all, that's the easiest way to break down a defense. Neither guy hustles on or has a clue how to defend pick and rolls. Almost every night opposing teams abuse our guards socalled defense. The defense will never ever get good enough to win a lot of games with these two pathetic defenders waving red capes as guards blows right past them. Mix in Redd is set to make 16/17/18 million per the next three season, that's a cap killer for a guy who plays no defense and gags more in the clutch than a used up porn hag. Mo makes nearly 9 million for his matador defense. That 26 million a year for two soft as butter turnstiles, they need to be purged from the roster ASAP.
  14. Well Patrick, i shave my head for a few reasons In my early 20's a first noticed some hair failing out. Given i think most balding guys look stupid when they try combing over strands of hair over a bald spot and/or i think guys look funny with no hair on their head except the sides, i told myself i'd never ever have one of those looks on my head. Plus, once i shaved my head, i loved it. I not only like the look of it, i find it feels clean and refreshing, especially in summer. Now if i go a few days without shaving my head, i feel kinda grimy and scrubby like if i don't shave my face for a few days. The other big plus side is never having to worry about what my hair is doing if it rains out, is windy, or really muggy. I get out of the shower, shake my head, and my "hair" is fixed for the day. The only downsides are in summer and winter. In winter if i forget my hat, it can be quite chilly not having any hair on the head. As for the summer, i love heat and baking in the sun. The first really hot sunny day of summer often brings with it a sunburnt scalp, but after the first burn, i'm fine the rest of summer.
  15. Man hat's a tough trade. Ramirez is such a do all stud at SS and i think Lee will put up better numbers than last year, i'd prefer those two over Prince and Renteria. I'm not playing fantasy ball for the first time in ages though and i'm not up to speed with the injury status of Beckett, that would be my key factor in deciding which trio i'd like best.
  16. I think this hits on another criticism of Crean, which is that players don't seem to improve under his tutelage. I'm not sure you can still make the argument that James is the star of this team or that he's the super star it looked like he might have been coming out of his freshman year. He's still a good player, but can we honestly say he's a better player now than he was 2 years ago? I think he's really maintained status quo, though our expectations were that he'd get better. Therefore, we're all kind of disappointed with his output. It's kinda hard to turn a poor shooter into a good one by the time a kid already reaches college. The best way for a shooter to get better is hard work in a gym shooting one shot after another. James just isn't a good jump shooter and i doubt he'll ever become a good jump shooter regardless if a different coach works with him.
  17. From my experience, the main reason people overcook a steak is putting it on a not hot enough grill. You want the grill to be hot enough to sear the outside fairly quickly so the inside doesn't get dry. If a grill isn't hot enough, it's nearly impossible to get a steak charred on the outside before the inside is overcooked unless you're someone who likes a steak well done.
  18. I've been shaving my head for years ever since i did it while drunk, now i'd need to be paid to grow back hair. It feels refreshing in summer and it's nice never having to bother with my hair in certain weather situations. As for how to shave it, i agree with weirdos. First i quick buzz it with my beard trimmer so the stubble on my head is very short. Then i simply use either shaving cream or soap after first wetting my head with hot water, both work fine. I've never bought a different razor for my head than what i used on my face, hell, i have even shaved my head with my daughters leg shaving razor. The first few times i razored it, i got a few minor cuts. The key is to go slow he few few times so you get a feel for when you're going with the grain. I honestly couldn't explain which way that is for each spot on your head because now i just do it instinctively after so many times shaving it. The hardest spots IMO to get are around the ears the first few times you try it, in fact that's were i cut myself a few times. Once i think i'm done, i take a wash cloth to rinse my head and get any cut hair off. Then i both look in the mirror and feel around for any spots i missed. Once you get used to shaving your head, it goes quick, not much longer than shaving your face. Takes me 5-7 minutes max to shave the noggin.
  19. I tried Arby's sauce on brats and liked it very much, now whenever i go to Arby's, i grab some extra ones for when i make brats.
  20. Melvin and others in the front office aren't stupid people, i'm confident that they'll monitor Parra through the season based not just on the number of innings he throws, but also on how many pitches he throws. Then they'll have to talk to Parra and make sure he's honest with them as the innings rack up about how he feels physically. If his velocity starts to drop, Parra starts looking like he's laboring, and/or he tells them he's starting to wear down, then obviously the team has to take some steps to get him some rest. While Yost can make moves that makes me question his sanity, i don't fear for a second that Ned will get any Dusty Bakeritis and have Parra out there in games throwing 110-120 pitches while chasing a win or two. I think with some common sense and truthful communication between Parra and the coaches/front office, the Brewers don't have to set an exact number for the number of innings Manny throws this year.
  21. Compared to that rape job when they traded Liriano, Nathan, and Bonsor for a decent catcher, the Villanueva trade has to look like a not so bad trade.
  22. Prince He hits for average, for power, and generally doesn't swing at garbage
  23. We own Braun's rights for so long that i'm not concerned at all about giving him a long term deal at this point.
