  1. So far it's looking pretty fortunate that yesterday's game was rained out. Better to play that one later.
  2. Cubs fans will proudly look back upon their 2-0 start as the high point of their 2022 season.
  3. I appreciate what you're doing here; I've whitelisted you.
  4. Jake Nottingham can now breathe easier.
  5. "I think there is a bounce-back coming, but it will look a little different. It’s likely Yeli isn’t a 30-homer guy anymore, however, there’s a chance he rediscovers his swing to raise his batting average, find some gaps, and hit frozen ropes from line to line. Sometimes when a player loses some home run power, those balls turn into doubles more frequently." I like this take on Yelich. I hope that's not just the fan in me talking.

  7. I'm torn on banning the shift. It just seem so logical to just hit against the shift; but if it was that easy, players would be doing it. This seems like an unnecessary rule that limits strategy. However; I'm so tired of easy ground balls hit to the overloaded side of the infield, I'm willing to concede on this one. We shouldn't need this rule, but evidently we do.

  9. Exactly. And if Milwaukee DID sign a couple of those huge contracts, they'd be giving up any real shot of being an over .500 team on any consistent basis. But this is what MLB gives us; some teams are Goliaths and others are Davids. And a mid-market team like Milwaukee offers an almost "fantasy baseball" element, where fans can mentally spend Mark A's money, trying to solve the puzzle of turning 120 million dollars worth of players into a championship team. If we're lucky, Milwaukee may figure it out. This is something Mets fans and Dodgers fans don't get. I would think Dodgers fans are not nearly as concerned about Lux as Brewers fans are about Hiura. It must be satisfying for big market fans to just wait to see what high priced free agents they'll have by the end of each winter; but those fans don't get this mental exercise of trying to compose the best team in baseball with only half the money. They don't get this yearly attempt at baseball alchemy. Yes, it's unfair. But the unfairness is a big part of what makes it interesting. I became a Brewers fan because of geographical convenience, but grew to find the impossible roster construction compelling. If it ever gets so unbalanced that it's not interesting anymore, then we'll all find something else to do. Stearns' Brewers have excelled at exploiting market inefficiencies. Sure, they like defense & positional flexibility, but I think Stearns real favorite thing is loading up on whatever baseball skill is currently undervalued. Every season he uses his limited resources to get at least twice the baseball talent that he actually paid for; and it's entertaining for the fans to play along with the arithmetic. I'm sure its a lot of fun to be a fan of a big market team, and it's got to be nice to just plan on the season going into October. But it's also entertaining to root for David.
  10. Vogelbach signs with the Pirates. My daughter and I were at his walk off game. There was no way for him to stay, but still sorry to see him go.
  11. Welcome, Seth, my name is Anton. I'll play. 1.) Where are you from? From suburban Milwaukee; lived here all my life except for four college years in Missouri 2.) Age Range? Mid 50's 3.) How long have you been frequenting BrewersFan.net? Since day one 4.) Highest level of baseball/softball played? Helped coach my son's Park & Rec League team; that's about it 5.) Favorite Brewers Player, and favorite underappreciated Brewers player, and if you want, favorite current Brewers player? I'm always a fan of the speedy outfielder 6.) Favorite Twitter follows? No Twitter. Makes my life much happier 7.) Other interests outside of baseball. I study history and philosophy. Also sell stuff on eBay as a side hustle 8.) Favorite part of BrewerFan.net... The moderation on Brewerfan.net has done an outstanding job of keeping the trolls out and keeping the focus on baseball. It's amazing that a place like this could exist for 20 years!
  12. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/03/brewers-to-re-sign-brad-boxberger.html Glad to have Boxberger back.
  13. Will usernames work on Twins Daily also?
  14. I'm surprised Stearns would be in on Cruz. He usually places a high value on versatility. Cruz as a DH only not only brings in a one-dimensional player, it also limits the versatility of the rest of the offense by not being able to play other hitters at DH very often.
  15. Absolutely; thanks so much to Brian for building this site. Thanks also for keeping it going all these years. Someone, somewhere must have been paying web hosting fees to keep this place running; it is much appreciated. Thanks also to Patrick, aka Colbyjack, for all the site design. I still remember those Brewerfan t shirts with the all time Brewerfan roster on the back. Thanks also to Mass Haas (Jim, I think?) for all the thoughtful content. Your work could be it's own website; it's that good. And thanks to the original group of posters from back in the early 2000's. There's Katulu, Al The Thinking Man, Great Legs, Pogokat, AJAY, Clancyphile, GenoSeligPrieb, Big Reed, Foamboy, Battlecow, Peavey Fury; along with many others. A great bunch of folks to talk baseball with. (I posted under the username Anton358 at the time.) Bottom line is that Brewerfan.net makes Brewers baseball better. Thanks to everyone who had a role in bringing this site to existence.
  16. Welcome to the board. Allow me to thank Brian & the core group that initially built this site. It was in 2001 or so that a group of Brewers fans who posted regularly on the ESPN boards desired a better place to discuss Brewers baseball. Brian volunteered to build this site, along with major contributions from Patrick (colbyjack), along with others. Thanks very much to that initial core group who built this Brewers oasis. I'll look forward to where you're going to take the forum in the future, Brock.
  17. Did the Brewers paint a pennant at the stadium to commemorate the 2020 Wild Card? On the one hand, it would seem weird to memorialize a sub-.500 season, but it would seem weird to ignore it too.
  18. It very well may be that Milwaukee does not have the money to sign anyone; or that the players available are not to their liking. If this is the team that we're going to field, I hope Braun comes back for one last season. Certainly a pennant race would be preferable; however, I could also find a Braun farewell tour entertaining. Field a competitive team. But if they can't do that, they could at least let us cheer a Brewer legend off into the sunset.
  19. Thanks for getting the site back up! Whenever it goes down like that, I always assume there's been some blockbuster trade or signing, and all the traffic brought the board down, haha
