  1. Just a small town girl, livin in a lonely world She took the midnight train goin anywhere Just a city boy, born and raised in south detroit He took the midnight train goin anywhere A singer in a smokey room A smell of wine and cheap perfume For a smile they can share the night It goes on and on and on and on Strangers waiting, up and down the boulevard Their shadows searching in the night Streetlight people, living just to find emotion Hiding, somewhere in the night Working hard to get my fill, Everybody wants a thrill Payin anything to roll the dice, Just one more time Some will win, some will lose Some were born to sing the blues Oh, the movie never ends It goes on and on and on and on (chorus) Dont stop believin Hold on to the feelin Streetlight people Come on Brewers get this to a game 4! One game at a time from here on out. If Bush is on form and they win tomorrow, then we have Mr. October Jeff Suppan going on Sunday. Let's give C.C. one more shot in a Brewer uni! GO BREWERS!
  2. They are headed for an overhaul, although it may not be dramatic. I still think that even though they are likely losing Sheets/Sabathia, this team still is not that far off from a championship. I think you may see one of the big boppers (preferably Prince, as good as he's been lately) traded away this off-season for a stud young pitcher, and I also think we could see some more Fontenot type players coming in as well to play second and third. For all we know that type of hitter may be beginning to surface (i.e. Escobar). All in all, to answer your question, yes I think we will see some shift in the offensive philosophy. I also think we'll see guys like Mitch Stetter, Carlos Villanueva, and Seth McClung sticking around to be built around in the bullpen.
  3. Wow I was at the game. It was amazing. After the eigth we ran down (from the upper deck) all the way to the right field bleachers. The cop told us to go wherever we wanted he didn't care. Went wild when they won. Went wild when the Mets won. Went down to the dugout for celebration. Got sprayed with champagne by Mark. That was sweet. THIS IS AMAZING!!! I will never forget this day.
  4. I think Torres has just ran out of gas. I'm 99% sure he's going to retire after this season. He's played forever. I think McClung is who I'm hoping for at this point.
  5. I don't have a good feeling, but I didn't have a good feeling Thursday or Friday or today either so take it for what it's worth. I'm afraid that C.C. is going to struggle starting so often on three days rest. If Marquis was starting tomorrow I'd be feeling a lot better, but I don't know what to expect with Guzman going. All in all, I realized last weekend that they aren't really a playoff-bound team so I'm not going to suffer too much if they fall short tomorrow. Oh, and I'm going to be there--with Cubs fans that are friends of mine. You can imagine all the butterflies I have going through my stomach right now.
  6. If they do make the playoffs, Torres can't be the closer. He's just run out of gas.
  7. Yeah, I really would like to see them use Bush tonight if that is the case. It would be great if they could clinch tomorrow night and he can pitch Sunday, but I'm extremely doubtful of that happening.
  8. I think it's a camera guy.
  9. I hate the fact that the Brewers put us in the position to have to root for the Cubs the last four days. Ugh, the fact that I'm so disappointed about that Cub loss is just...weird.
  10. I can see all the arguments that everyone is making here, and I am glad this has turned into a pretty good conversation. I guess I fall somewhere in between for my preference, but at this point I think it was necessary. I think MNBrew hit it right on the head with his first post. Yost refused to make any changes in his approach and chose to wait for the offense to get out of its funk, and he lost his job as a result. Svuem decided that in order to get this offense going, he was going to go back to the basic old school combination of good pitching/small ball, and I'd say it's worked to an extent. It seems as if the team's got some of their mojo back, and he just might have picked the right time to start doing it because one of the things that's been consistent from both points of view is that it is extremely necessary in the playoffs. If the Brewers can get there, I'm glad to know that they will be willing to lay down a bunt or two (or three) to score some runs.
  11. Well, at this point with such a struggling offense, it has been the smart way to go. They've been waiting for the three-run home run all season (ala Moneyball), and unfortunately their offense has vastly underperformed as a result. Maybe in the future when they've got guys who aren't trying to hit the ball out of the park every time they come up to the plate, they can go back to the Moneyball offense.
  12. Yeah, but with the way the offense has been lately, it appears (obviously I can't say much watching it on television) that they are playing more loose and with more confidence which could play a part in the high number of walks. It's not like Maholm was missing three feet off the plate. They took some pretty tough pitches that I haven't seen them take all season. In the Hall situation, who's to say that he doesn't ground into a double play if he doesn't bunt there? If he gets the bunt down, they are in great position to score an important fifth run because Braun grounded out the next at bat. I wasn't sure about Svuem when they hired him, but to this point, I like the new lineup (more pitches, which you talked about, being taken) and I like the new attitude on offense. He also seems to be a much more easy-going guy from what I've seen of him with the press than Yost was. With the situation that he was thrown into, he has responded pretty well and gotten this team back within a stone's throw away from the playoffs (granted it's been against the Pirates and Reds, but they all matter now).
  13. I have noticed in the vent thread that a lot of people are complaining about all the bunting that's going on. Why not try something different after such a rough stretch? It worked tonight. Schroeder makes a good point that the Brewers probably have a tougher time winning this game a month ago. I'm not a big fan of waiting for the three-run home run like the way we have for so long under Yost. This is fun to watch for me. I'm lovin' the hit and runs, the running, and the bunting. Obviously it's just my opinion, but I don't think he has been excessive in the bunts. I think it's what they've needed, and it could just light a spark under this offense for these last couple games.
  14. They need to completely revamp that bullpen with new blood. I know that's what we did this past offseason, but we need to do it with guys that aren't washed up/former steroid users like they've done the last few seasons. Develop from within, sign a big-name closer, and keep the few successes from this season (not sure if I can even name any).
