  1. Villar is pretty much a lock. The question is what happens to Aguilar, since Braun is basically taking his spot at 1B. I'm predicting they both make it to start the season, along with 4 SPs and 8 bullpen arms. Then they see what happens when they need a 5th starter in a week.
  2. Yeah, I think Suter's options are a moot point. I think he makes the team in some capacity (Starter, long relief or swing man)
  3. I think they put Vogt on the DL to keep their catching depth. Not saying they should, but I think they will.
  4. They could send Guerra to AAA to start the season and then recall him on the 6th, to avoid burning his final option.
  5. I could see them using that extra week to delay decisions on guys they might lose, like Aguilar (or dare I say Drake). Keep Aquilar as the 13th position player and see what happens that first week.
  6. It appears that Houser, Lopez, Nottingham, Diplan, Dubon and Webb were optioned.
  7. I'm thinking Guerra gets the 5th spot. I keep reading about how they feel like they messed him up last year by holding him out of winter ball and then he got hurt in the first game. Now he's healthy and had a good winter, so I think they give him another shot.
  8. I didn't have to do anything to get the faster speed. I'm actually closer to 120 MB/sec now. But I do have my own modem and not one rented from TWC/Spectrum. I work from home a lot, so I do need the extra speed. And never any buffering. TWC did run a new line from the street when I switched from AT&T a number of years ago, so that may be a factor as well.
  9. He's getting hit pretty hard here in the 4th, though. Three runs in. All unearned due to the Arcia error. I'm sure he hit his pitch count in the 4th when he was pulled.
  10. Perhaps the Yelich/Cain swap is looking at options to break up the lefties at times, like if Thames hits third when Braun is resting.
  11. Braun warmed up at 2B. https://www.mlb.com/brewers/news/brewers-zach-davies-looks-to-improve-in-april/c-267773590
  12. I haven't had cable in 15 years, so I haven't been able to watch much baseball, but I've had pretty good luck with Spectrum. I was paying $60 for Time Warner 15 MB internet. Switched to Spectrum internet for $5 more and the speed increased to 60 MB. And a few months later, it increased to 100 MB for the same price. Since I got a Roku TV, I have been able to use the Fox Sports Go app with my Spectrum login and watch all the Fox Sports without having cable TV. I know this may go away at anytime, but it's been fun to actually watch sports again.
  13. I'm pretty sure Gallardo would have to agree to the optioning due to his service time. And since his contract is non-guaranteed, he would likely just get cut instead of paying him $2 million. And I don't think they're paying Sogard $2.4 million to play in the minors.
  14. Well Braun wore his OF glove at 1B today, so it wouldn't be a problem.
  15. Really, Phillips and Aquilar are the odd men out and the guys who are losing out on big league ABs. They would obviously have the most to gain by a Santana trade. Broxton has had his chances and doesn't appear to be more than a 4th OF. I was really amazed looking at the starts last year, that almost half the OF starts were by guys who really shouldn't be starting in an MLB OF and they still only missed the playoffs by a game.
  16. Here's another way to look at it. We can look forward to these guys not starting in the OF 229 times: Broxton-113 Perez-61 Thames-18 Franklin-13 Brinson-12 Villar-6 Nieuwenhuis-5 Sogard-1 Then Aguilar and Walker started 59 games at 1B. Give those to Braun (95 starts last year) Broxton and Phillips end up as AAA depth. Using last years' starts, that leaves 480 starts out of 486 possible.: Yelich-155 Cain-151 Santana-138 Braun-36
  17. I used to be against the DH (I like the NL strategy), but I've come around to having the DH in the NL. Pitchers never get a chance to become good hitters. They don't hit at at until AA and then it's only half the games. So pitchers are way behind before they even start. And how many injuries could have been avoided?
  18. Here is the quote: https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2018/02/03/brewers-general-manager-david-stearns-content-wait-right-opportunity-pitcher/303816002/ It doesn't mean he doesn't want to make a move. It means nothing is happening in baseball right now.
  19. Last year was the first time Cain played more than 140 games, so you probably can't count on him going 150+ games either.
  20. That's assuming either of them pitches an inning for the Brewers.
  21. The 40 man may be full now, but there could be 3-4 DFAs at the end of spring training (Bandy, Guerra, Drake). Interesting that Nottingham would be the only catcher on the 40 man, not on the 25 man roster, but I'm not sure he'd be the first one called in case of a catcher injury.
  22. They traded 4 young, controllable talents for 1 young, controllable talent. Otherwise, the young, controllable talent is still there, just that a few more of them will start in the minors.
  23. Nice to have a bullpen guy who won't walk everyone, similar to Swarzak last year.
  24. https://www.mlb.com/news/josh-hader-to-open-2018-in-brewers-bullpen/c-265473282
  25. Yeah, we're paying Braun for the next 14 years. And Garza is still owed $8 million over the next 4 years.
