  1. Yount played another 9 years and had 3 more MVP caliber seasons. Braun will be lucky to make it to 37, like Yount.
  2. For most of the counting stats, he's pretty far behind Yount and Molitor. He'll have to put up a number of big, healthy season to move up those lists.
  3. Looks like Heineman and Rojas switched back after just 1 day.
  4. By my count, Colorado Springs will have to remove 3 players in the comings days as Lopez, Asher and Ramirez report.
  5. It's ironic that Swarzak and Hughes were the only two Brewers relievers who had a better walk rate than Drake last year and they're both gone.
  6. Sore quad. Day to day. Cain wants to play today, Counsell hasn't committed yet.
  7. Sounds like Cain is day to day and may play today. And don't see this happening in any situation other than an emergency (Not McAlvy): https://www.mlb.com/brewers/news/lorenzo-cain-injured-exits-game-vs-cardinals/c-271563360
  8. I just hope Erceg's back holds up. A bulging disk seems to be something that guys have to keep an eye on forever.
  9. How much of it is the roster? You can see hints of Stearn's vision, but half of the 25 man and half of the 40 man are Melvin players.
  10. I see. So Williams could have been recalled yesterday instead of Houser, but not today instead of Hoover.
  11. Yeah, which means Williams could have been recalled too, which means Haudricourt doesn't know what he's talking about.
  12. https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2018/04/07/brewers-send-down-starter-brandon-woodruff-summon-reliever-j-j-hoover-minors/480582002/ From the JS: That doesn't make any sense. Weren't Houser and Williams in the same boat: neither one down 10 days, but either one could have been recalled because they were replacing an injured player? Or was Houser's option on an earlier date?
  13. Counsell says 6-8 weeks, which is better than expected yesterday.
  14. I think it comes down to Houser being stretched out to start, so he can go multiple innings and he didn't pitch yesterday, like the other options. They're probably thinking Woodruff may not go deep in his first start.
  15. Nick Franklin is going to do some catching for Biloxi this year. https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2018/03/30/brewers-send-out-ji-man-choi-add-reliever-dan-jennings/461787002/
  16. It really all comes down to winning and health. If the team is winning, guys probably won't mind getting a few less starts. And if someone gets hurt, there isn't a problem with playing time. It may become a problem if everyone stays healthy and the team is losing, then you may see clubhouse problems. But given Braun, Crain and Thames history, it seems unlikely that everyone stays healthy.
  17. Does a wild card play-in game count as a playoff series?
  18. What do you think is going to happen first? Bucks win a playoff series Brewers win a playoff series Packers win a playoff game
  19. Sounds like Counsell liked Hiura's defense. https://www.mlb.com/brewers/news/brewers-send-keston-hiura-to-minor-league-camp/c-269032334
  20. Hiura and Brady returned to minor league. Hiura made a good impression and it sounds like he's on the fast track.
  21. Because last year Franklin, Nieuwenhuis, Perez, Sogard, Thames, and Villar made 21% of the team's OF starts. Counsel will want to give Perez starts, and you can bet some of those will be in the OF.
  22. All these discussions about the OF logjam and something occurred to me. What's the over/under on the number of OF starts Counsel will give to Perez or someone other than Braun, Yelich, Cain or Santana? More than a handful I would guess. And the over/under on the number of games where 2 or 3 out of Perez, Villar and Sogard will all start?
  23. Braun said he isn't comfortable at 1B yet. That's not the same thing as voicing displeasure at playing 1B.
  24. Really sounds like they're going to keep Aquilar as long as possible and hope something happens before they need a 5th starter. https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2018/03/15/brewers-still-have-rotation-and-bullpen-decisions-make-end-spring-training-nears/426741002/
  25. You can look at all the plays in the MLB box scores to see what types of plays Braun has been involved in. From yesterday's box score, he can throw without making an error.
