  1. I like it a lot so far. The Wii Wheel definitely makes it more enjoyable, imo. I scooped up a 2nd one right away and haven't regretted it. I like being able to race on motorcycles and scooters in addition to karts, it adds to the fun. Also, you can play other people online and compare your best times to other people, which is a nice touch. I miss being able to get the double item boxes from Double Dash, but I have to say that it is probably the best Mario Kart yet (caveat: I haven't played the one for DS).
  2. Hi everybody- I just bought a kind of rare Import Sid Vicious album, but the price sticker that is on it is inexplicably extremely sticky. The cover is otherwise basically mint, so the sticker is taunting me. Every time I think about it, I get more annoyed. So, if anyone knows how to remove stickers from paper products, it would really improve my state of mind. Thanks!
  3. I didn't even get my license until I was like 21 or 22, so my ride was the city bus in Milwaukee. I had a couple motorcycles (and a Vespa) when I was a teenager but didn't ride them often because I had no license. I've never minded being late to things so I didn't mind having to wait around for the bus. Finally, my girlfriend (now wife) made me get a license so I could help with the driving duties on trips back to Milwaukee from Minneapolis. The first car I owned was a 1997 Dodge Intrepid (that was the color too): http://www.carsto-go.com/GRAPHICS/1997-DODGE-INTREPID.JPG I liked it a lot, the trunk was spacious and it drove pretty nicely for a Dodge.
  4. Did anybody read that book about him that came out a year or two ago? He seems to be a bit of a nut, it's a very interesting read. edit: It's called "The Man Who Heard Voices" As for his movies, I liked Unbreakable best. The Sixth Sense and Signs are OK too, though I felt the twists were kind of lame (why would aliens that are poisoned by water want to invade a planet that is covered in it and where it falls regularly from the sky?). I haven't watched the village (or the other one) because I heard how the village ended and it just seems like such a cliche that I couldn't bring myself to watch it.
  5. I assume he meant defensive shortcomings in the sense of Iribarren not having the arm for SS or 3B, which could make it hard for him to be a utility guy. Maybe I'm wrong though.
  6. I'm just saying that it's a little unfair to label Cabrera "Fat Boy", imo.
  7. Fans of a team with Prince Fielder are calling players on other teams fat? Glass houses, etc.
  8. at first I thought you were talking about Brad Nelson and I rushed off to see how he was doing this year (quite well so far, actually). Then I realized you meant Russ and I couldn't agree more. I hope he sticks around in Nashville till September, I'm sure they'll at least give him a call then, if not before that.
  9. does Mel Stocker bat left, right, or switch-hit? BBRef doesn't know and I don't remember from the couple AB's he got last year.
  10. I'm stubbornly clinging to my old Philips DirecTV TiVo because all other DVRs I've seen are nowhere near as user friendly and DirecTV has stopped partnering with TiVo. Anyway, you can't go wrong with TiVo. I highly recommend it, no matter the cost (almost literally).
  11. I saw some Cleveland fans saying that he had a chance to close a few years ago when Wickman was hurt and he blew it. Apparently that has soured the decision makers on using him in that role. If Cleveland wants to get a guy from outside to take over Borowski, I'd have to think they would shoot higher than Turnbow.
  12. I agree with tristarscoop on the general quality of FSN. I go with ESPNews, usually.
  13. I can't say I approve of this move at all. I'd rather have Hideo Nomo or Chan Ho Park or even Rick Helling or Elmer Dessens if the team insists on having a washed up guy who doesn't belong in the majors. The reason I don't like this move is because he might get called up at some point, no matter how unlikely that seems. Any chance of him getting called up is too large. He can't get guys out except in Dodger Stadium. If he was guaranteed to stay in AAA, fine. However, that doesn't seem to be the case.
  14. Moeller looked terrible in his first AB, taking a called 3rd strike, but in his 2nd AB, he did a great job punching a pitchout past the 2nd baseman on a hit and run. He later came around to score. He's wearing #19 and batting 8th, if anyone cares.

  16. hahahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! His OPS+ the last 4 seasons: 47, 61, 29, 3(!!).

  18. cell phones and a gps.
  19. Hi- I have several small electronic devices that use mini-USB as their power source. These all come with their own charger, so as of now I have a tangle of what appear to be the same exact cords on my kitchen counter so that I can charge these things. What I want to know is, are these cords interchangeable? I know that regular USB cords are, but I'm not sure about these things because they seem to have different milliamp ratings. If they are, I could streamline my cords to a gratifying extent. Any help would be much appreciated.
  20. You're probably right. I just always liked to think of Kenny Williams lamenting to himself "oh god, how did I let the Phillies talk me into giving Gonzalez up? I need to get him back."
  21. Wow, I'm surprised by this move. Like some other people, I thought Gwynn's spot would be used to get Gallardo back while allowing them a bit more time to decide which pitcher to get rid of. I like the move though. A 3 man bench (not counting Rivera) would not really be adequate for a long stretch of time. Plus, I always like to see guys make their MLB debut, especially ones that we've all been following for a few years. Hopefully Hernan will have some success.
  22. I'm not so sure about that. Because of the angle that Weeks threw the ball from, the catcher didn't have to be very far up the first base line. I'm not saying it wasn't a nice play, just that I think most catchers at least make a half-hearted effort to back up the play, just like most players at any position do.
  23. Hate might be a strong word, but I don't think there is anything irrational about it. When you look on the back of his baseball card, you see: Derrick Turnbow - 2006 NL All-Star 56.3 Innings, 51 Runs, 43 Earned Runs, 39 Walks, 1.7 WHIP, 6.87 ERA That kind of season from a team's all-star representative is enough to scar any fan, no matter how much they know about small sample sizes and the year to year variability of relievers.
  24. Not exactly true. Bush has 4 straight years of 180 innings pitched, which I think is a good benchmark of durability.
  25. Kind of. The White Sox gave the Phillies Gio Gonzalez (along with Aaron Rowand) for Jim Thome. The next year, he was traded back to the White Sox for Freddy Garcia, which indicated to me that the White Sox thought they had made a mistake giving him up in the first place. However, they then traded him to the A's for Nick Swisher. I'm sure that kind of thing has happened other times too, that's just what came immediately to mind because I thought the sequence of events was strange.
