  1. How strange is it that if the Brewers were in the NL West they'd be in first place with a very legitimate chance of making the playoffs. It's funny how we debate if the Brewers will be a .500 team, yet if by chance they were in a different division, we'd be realistically talking about playoff matchups. It's not fair!
  2. And let the annual late season slide begin....these last three games my friends are the beginning of the end of this season. This franchise is cursed with a losing tradition and every year at the first sign of things going downhill, our guys bend over and take it....I see no reason why this year will be different. I can't imagine how bad things will get next week @NY and @Philly. Two weeks from now we'll be 10 games under and waiting to see Krenzyl, Fielder, Hendrickson, and Hart in September. I hate being a Brewers fan.
  3. Well, there goes any chance of being .500 when we hit the road next week. There is no way we win the next three games. Is it football season yet?
  4. Only the Brewers would have a pitcher throw a complete game 1 hitter and lose 3-0. I guess we should just be thankful that the Giants got a hit since losing a no-hitter would be a helluva lot more embarassing. Still, this is bad enough. Edit: I see I jinxed Vic perfectly. Well this is a guaranteed loss. There is no way we will score, let alone win (wink, wink).
  5. Boy, all of a sudden watching these games isn't a whole lot of fun any more. That entire inning sums up this whole year. Crappy play, getting tagged by the other team's least likely player, then getting close to getting even but just can't get there and end up with nothing. I think we know how the rest of this story is gonna go.
  6. @#$^@#$%@ !#$%!@#$!#@$ Their pitcher jacks a HR and we miss a three run shot by an inch. That just plain sucks.
  7. But hey, Washington lost, so we're still only 5.5 games out of the wild card! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/sick.gif
  8. What's that? Wes Helms bobbles an easy grounder right to him? Gee, that's never happened before. And then Moeller let's a ball get passed him with a guy on third? What are the odds of that???
  9. Runner at third, one out, pitcher up....watch out for the suicide squeeze!
  10. You know, if Yost had brought in JDLR and he walked a couple of guys and then gave up the game winning hit the boards would be packed with people saying Ned should have brought in Santana. The fact is, Yost can't win. No matter what move is made, there is always going to be someone who disagrees. People need to realized that this game was not lost in the bottom of the ninth inning. It was lost in the previous 9 innings when we scored ONLY TWO RUNS against a horrible pitching staff. If I would have told you that the Reds would only get 3 runs today, there is not a soul on this board who would have thought we'd lose.
  11. As I predicted on the first page of the game thread, yet another horrible Sunday loss. Why our guys play so poorly on Sundays is beyond me. I know in the grand scheme of things this was only one game but this was a killer to lose. With a .500 type team like the Brewers, being three games under as opposed to one is huge. IMO, today's loss means we will be chasing .500 for the rest of the season instead of getting there and staying over the .500 mark. If we would have won today, we probably would have been 2-3 games over by the end of the homestand. Even a bad east coast road trip would still leave us right round .500.....now we will probably be 2 games under a week from now and a bad road trip will bring us down even further. It's hard to say that ONE game at the end of July was such a huge game in the course of a season but today's game really was big. And now there is a lot of pressure to do well vs. the Dbacks...a couple more losses and we're 5 under...yikes.
  12. I'll bet Willy Mo goes yard for the Reds today at least once. That guy owns us. And why is everyone so thrilled about the pitching matchup? Sure he has a horrible ERA against the rest of the league, but he has an ERA of ZERO against the Brewers in 12 innings. Today's game has "bad Sunday loss" written all over it. Hope I'm wrong but I'm guessing 8-4 Reds.
  13. Yes, it is becoming more and more obvious that Santos is starting to fall apart. Kind of like last year in the second half except this year it will be much more noticable since the Brewers aren't going to fall apart again (knock on wood). If only Melvin could make a move for a decent pitcher that we could have for the next few years.
  14. Bill Hall's ass should be riding the pine after this inning. Ned needs to show these guys that lazy plays will NOT be accepted! What horrible effort by Hall. Why am I having visions of payback for our comeback vs. the Reds last year when they were up 9-1?
  15. If we can't get to Ortiz this inning after he's been sitting around for 25 minutes then the game's over.
  16. Who would've thought that we'd get 12 off of the Cardinals very good pitching staff yesterday and only have 3 runs through six innings vs. one of the worst starters in baseball. I'm getting the feeling we're destined to lose two of three to the Reds. I'm not sure Santos will fare much better than Ohka tomorrow, so if we're gonna win we better score about 8 or 9 runs.
  17. Why do I have the feeling I'd be better off ignoring the Brewers til Friday? It's 2-0 in the second inning and I feel like we have NO CHANCE to win tonight. StL is gonna get their 5-6 runs and Suppan is gonna shut us down. Tomorrow Sheets will give up HR's to Edmonds, Rolen, and Taguchi and we'll lose 3-2. I hate playing the Cardinals! They do everything right (well just about everything, Mr. Rolen) and seem to bring out the absolute worst in us. At this point I'd be happy to win just one game in this series. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  18. What the hell game is this ump watching????
  19. True, but I think we can all agree that if we don't win tomorrow we'll be heading to Cincy with one or less wins in St. Louis.
  20. So we leave the bases loaded last inning, Vic gets squeezed big time to the Pujols, Edmonds, and Walker on a few pivotal pitches and then forgets how to pitch all together. Man I hate playing the Cardinals. Just when you think you're sailing along, Pujols comes up with two outs and they end up rallying for 2, 3, 4 runs or whatever. But fear not, Bill "or I should say" Schroeder says this is gonna be a slugfest so don't go away!
  21. Great win today. A split after winning the first two would have definitely sucked all the momentum out of our club. If we can split with St. Louis then I think it is just a matter of time before we are back over .500 since the rest of the month's schedule isn't too tough. Go 4-3 on the road this week (which is asking a lot considering our road record) and then we have 7 at home vs. AZ and SF.
  22. 4 hits in the first inning so far??? Come on. Another long ball and this game is over before we come to the plate.
  23. Is anyone else sick of seeing the infield come in late in a tie game? It seems like every time our infield plays shallow the hitter scorches a ball that would be right at someone had we been playing at double play depth. Bringing the infield in is the kiss of death. Just like sending a runner home from third on contact with less than two outs. 99 times out of 100 it doesn't work.
  24. Exactly. Our offense blows right now so we might as well try something new and since we aren't going to shakeup the lineup (via trade) we might as well get rid of Wynegar. Maybe once our guys see that their inability to get things done at the plate cost their coach his job they will rally around it and take it up a notch.
