1. It is odd that Geocities is owned by Yahoo, yet they have different sharing rules. I remember when GeoCities was Geocities and I had a Packer fan site. Good ol' '95. It is also odd that Bill's Mac allows him to do things that I can't. Get on it, Gates!
2. The frustration just boiled over a bit is all. Eat your damn cheese sandwich.
3. It won't let me open it anywhere. None of the "View" options are shaded in. If I remember right about Geocities, they don't allow outside access to their hosted images, so Al, you might want to try to open a Yahoo Briefcase account. I'm pretty sure you can access those images from anywhere. If you have a Yahoo account, go to yahoo.com and click on "Briefcase" - it's on the top part of the page under the subheading Organize.
4. FWIW, I can't see it either, Al.
5. The best part about that dive by Podsednik was that after he missed it, he just looked at the ball, and then looked at the ground, and stayed there. Also, nice throw by Grieve. I've seen weather balloons lower to the ground.
6. um, Toby, I think we know who's knocking on the Power 50 door for next week's update Barnes is already there.
7. With his 34th stolen base of the season today... Single Season Career Stolen Bases SB Year Stolen Bases SB Years 1 Listach 54 1992 1 Molitor 412 78-92 2 Molitor 45 1987 2 Yount 271 74-93 3 Podsednik 43 2003 3 Gantner 137 76-92 4 Hamilton 41 1992 4 Harper 136 69-71 Molitor 41 1988 5 Listach 112 92-96 Molitor 41 1983 6 Hamilton 109 88,90-95 Molitor 41 1982 7 Felder 108 85-90 8 Harper 38 1970 8 Surhoff 102 87-95 9 Sanchez 37 2002 9 Valentin 78 92-99 10 Podsednik 34 2004 10 Podsednik 77 03-04 Felder 34 1987 Cooper 77 77-87 Molitor 34 1980
8. Clark doesn't need to be cut, he just needs to play less. He's a valuable MLB player, insomuch as so are many other 5th OF types. Magruder has a better chance to be a 4th OFer in the bigs, but neither really fit the bill right now. Clark has more experience, so he gets the nod as the 4th guy. It just so happens that Yost likes playing the 4th guy too much. It's a bad situation, but it'll work itself out soon enough.
9. But if he keeps making moves like this, I might never complain about Reid again. The problem being that this move would have been great about three-four weeks ago. Gann may be a great sign, but why did it have to take so long? I still maintain that it is unacceptable for any minor league team to remain short-handed for more than a day or two. It's just not fair to the affiliates or to the players.
10. I'd just like to add my belated "oy vei" regarding the perfect game. I caught the box score late last night, and slowly and horrifically realized what was happening. Lesson #1 in why you can't necessarily trust college talent to transfer over to A-ball.
11. Spanbauer lived in the same apartment complex as me in Oshkosh. Next building down. The whole Wisconsin Timber Rattlers' bullpen told me to... it's a family site. If you were at Fanfest, you'd know.
12. David Spanbauer once called me "kiddo."
13. BTW, Kolb's save tonight puts him in sole possesion of 10th place on the Brewers' career saves list. He passed Chuck Crim with Brewers save #43. His coach, Billy Castro, is 9th with 44 Brewer saves. Saves SV Years 1 Plesac 133 86-92 2 Fingers 97 81-85 3 Fetters 79 92-97 4 Wickman 79 96-00 5 Henry 61 91-94 Sanders 61 70-72 7 Jones 49 82,96-98 8 DeJean 47 01-03 9 Castro 44 74-80 10 Kolb 43 03-04 Edit: Kolb is on pace for 50 saves, which would vault him into 5th place in career Brewer saves, with 71. 50 saves would also shatter the Brewers' single season mark, currently held by Bob Wickman, who had 37 saves back in '99. Kolb is currently only 5 saves shy of 10th place on the single-season list. Mike DeJean is 10th with 27 in '02.
14. Foot in mouth. Now I blame Moeller.
15. Brady, why couldn't you have done that in the first inning? Gah. Stupid singles with no one on and two out.
16. Even if the Brewers aren't scoring as many runs as they should be, this has to be one of Estes' worst career outings, at least control-wise.
17. Four walks, a sac fly and an error in one inning and this team scores one run. Heh.
18. Lyle Overbay, second on the team in strikeouts. He sucks. Edit: Wait... no, he doesn't.
19. Going back to the first page of the thread... I won't be surprised when they sign all their top 10 picks "They" are the Minnesota Twins, and they signed Minnesota lefty Glen Perkins yesterday, which means they have signed all their picks in the top 11 rounds. That's pretty impressive for a small-market club with so many high picks.
20. I was going to go tonight, but I got suckered into work. I'll also (ironically) be in Wisconsin for the rest of the weekend, so no Metrodome for me. I think they're going to lose anyway. Maybe if Sheets was pitching, I would have told work to go you-know-what itself.
21. That could just be a bargaining ploy by Brady. Until he signs with someone, we won't know. Anyway... http://graphics.jsonline.com/graphics/sports/brew/img/jun04/mark622.jpg
22. I saw the game Windsor pitched and was pretty impressed, with three caveats. While he has good action on all his pitches, he was topping out in the mid 80's. I think the fastest I saw him throw was 87, and for a big guy like that, you'd think it would be more. The ump also had a huge zone (which I understand is the norm in college), and a lot of his pitches that were called strikes would have been called balls in pro baseball. Finally, he had a little bit of a hitch in his arm motion bringing the ball back towards home. He cocked his elbow a little, and then jerked his whole arm forward towards the plate. I've seen much cleaner deliveries, but I guess if he's gotten this far with it... I guess I see his value more as a reliever if he could add 4-5 MPH on his fastball by just going 20-30 pitches at a time. As it is, he looks like a middle-bottom of the rotation guy with an askew delivery.
