  1. $10 says a Huntsville position player either goes on the DL or gets promoted or demoted.
  2. where, oh where, is the Power 50 love for the 21-year-old Pena? Toby? There's a few Beloit guys who are right on the cusp, like Pena, Lewis, and Stetter. This last time came down to a coin flip between Pena and Dillard, and Tim won because he should get through the system more quickly as a reliever, and I think he has a better chance anyways. This is Pena's second year in Beloit, so one would hope he'd be better than last year. Plus, he's about half a year older than Dillard. It was also a tough week to elbow on to the Power 50, with the draft picks and all.
  3. Helena and Billings are tied at 1 after three innings. Rasheed has gotten on base for the Toddlin' Brewers another few times, and scored on a Grant Richardson single in the third. Walker pitched pretty decently, and "changed speeds well," though it also sounded like he gave up a few hard-hit balls, including a triple.
  4. FYI, Helena's starter Edwin Walker was a 2002 9th round pick, not a 2003 pick. He had arm surgery last season.
  5. I saw Prettyman man play for awhile yesterday against South Carolina, and he struck me more as a utility guy than as a third base prospect. He has an open stance and a quick swing that doesn't appear to have much power in it at all. Purely a ground ball/line drive hitter. Could hit for decent average, and he appeared to have a decent idea at the plate. Pretty skinny, could add some weight. Quick at third base, though as I said, I think he's more of a utility guy, so he'll have to prove he can plus plus defense elsewhere, too.
  6. Just so long as no one mentions the "s" word, the Brewers will be fine. If you really feel the urge, just say that if they win this one, they'll have a three game winning streak.
  7. I apologize for any language in my last post that offended anyone. I will edit it out, or leave it up to Brian to edit it out if he sees fit due the the potentially offensive nature of it. There are times for deep analytical comment and reasoning, but I believe that it has gone beyond that now, and something short and to the point needs to be said. There have been things that have gone on recently that have irked me more than anything that has happened over the past seasons that I have experienced as a devout fan of the Brewers minor leagues. This organization is better than this. I have trusted the braintrust of the Brewers to step up to the plate and deliver some results. I do not think that complimenting in-house talent is that difficult of a task. However, it has recently become apparent that a lack of attention, whether it be through a lack of commitment or through a lack of planning, that this organization has somewhat failed in its due dilligence to its affiliates and to its players. I have praised its efforts in scouting as much as anyone else, but the process does not end there. Holes must be filled when holes occur. Having nine position players on ANY roster in wholly and completely unacceptable, and does not show any respect for the remaining players on those rosters, and does not show any respect to the affiliates. Furthermore, it disrespects the organization as a whole. In preaching a winning attitude, which I have heard is an attitude and a trait that the organization wants to preach, the team must not set up the players up to fail, which is inevitable when rosters are shortchanged and attention to detail is sorely lacking. This is unacceptable and someone must be held to account. That is all for now. Look forward to a jaded Power 50 tomorrow afternoon.
  8. Even with my bad grammar (caught in the heat of the moment and whatnot)... You have Henderson, who is NOT a potential conversion propspect hitting DH for the Mavs tonight, and you have Huntsville pitchers repeatedly having to hit longer than necessary, and at times PHing. Not to mention Fielder having to STAY IN THE GAME AFTER BEING INJURED. Caps lock time. You know that when I bring the caps lock noise, it is serious. REID! REID! WAKE UP! REID! REID! I KNOW SOMEONE IN THE BREWERS' HEIRARCHY IS READING THIS. SOMEONE GO TELL REID. I DON'T CARE IF THIS COMES DOWN TO A LACK OF ROSTER SPOTS OR IMPENDING RETURNS OF CURRENT PLAYERS. THE FACT THAT MULTIPLE AFFILATES, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY OUR PLAYERS, ARE SUFFERING BECAUSE THE BREWERS ORGANIZATION CAN NOT FIND ENOUGH PLAYERS TO FILL SPOTS IS @#%$ RIDICULOUS. THERE IS NO GOOD REASON, NO GOOD REASON AT ALL, FOR ERIC HENDERSON TO BE DHING. THERE IS NO GOOD REASON FOR JEFF HOUSMAN TO BE PHING. THESE ARE PITCHING PROSPECTS. REPEAT AFTER ME: PITCHING PROSPECTS. THERE IS NO MASTER PLAN TO TEACH ALL OF THESE GUYS HOW TO HIT .300 BY PINCH HITTING THEM. I KNOW THIS. WE ALL KNOW THIS THERE IS NO REASON ON THIS EARTH FOR FIELDER TO BE PLAYING AFTER FOULING A BALL HARD OFF OF HIS FOOT. SIGN SOME DAMN PLAYERS. THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE BREWERS MAJOR LEAGUE TEAM ARE BEING LOST ON ME DUE TO THE INCOMPETENCE OF THE MINOR LEAGUE SIDE OF THINGS. SOME OF THE MOVES THAT HAVE BEEN MADE ARE INEXCUSABLE. MANY NONMOVES THAT HAVE NOT BEEN MADE ARE EVEN MORE INEXCUSABLE. I ALMOST HOPE MATT PARKER COMES BACK AND BITES THIS TEAM SO THAT THE BREWERS LEARN THEIR LESSON. REMEMBER SHORTCHANGING JIM RUSHFORD AND FORGETTING ABOUT PAUL STEWART? THE PLAYERS IN THE MINORS LEAGUES ARE STILL THE FUTURE OF THE FRANCHISE, WHETHER YOU WANT TO PAY ATTENTION TO THEM OR NOT, REID. THERE IS NO REASON ON THIS EARTH WHY INDIANAPOLIS AND HUNTSVILLE SHOULD HAVE THE WIN-LOSS RECORDS THAT THEY DO. EVEN A NOMINAL AMOUNT OF TALENT AROUND THE EXISTING TALENT SHOULD HAVE ACCOMPLISHED SUCCESSFUL SEASONS THUS FAR. INSTEAD, THOSE TEAMS AND THEIR PLAYERS ARE LEFT WITH NOTHING BECAUSE OF THE BREWERS' APPARENT INABILITY TO HELP THE TEAMS AND THEIR PLAYERS SUCCEED WITH SUPPORTING TALENT. HAVING THESE TEAMS IN THEIR CURRENT STATE OF SHAMBLES IS BOTH HEARTBREAKING FOR THE PLAYERS AND THEIR FANS, AND DISRESPECTFUL IN THE SPIRIT OF THE BREWERS ORGANIZATION. I ASK THAT, FOR THE LOVE OF THE BREWERS AND THE FUTURE OF THE FRANCHISE, AND FOR THE LOVE OF THE BREWERS MINOR LEAGUERS AND MAJOR LEAGUE PLAYERS, REID, EITHER GET OFF YOUR ASS AND MAKE SOME THINGS HAPPEN SO THAT ROSTERS ARE FILLED APPROPRIATELY, OR TELL US, THE FANS, WHY YOU WON'T DO THAT. AND IF YOU TELL US, YOU BETTER HAVE A DAMNED GOOD REASON WHY.
  9. Why is the heck is Eric Henderson still DHing? Reid, you @$%*!
  10. I just spent half an hour trying to convince some Twins fans that their team would finish no better than fourth in the NL Central. Me: "Which teams in the NL Central could the Twins beat straight out?" Them: "Uh, the Pirates... the Brewers..., maybe the Reds" Me: "Don't the Twins match up pretty poorly against the Brewers?" Them: "Well, yah, but the Twins could win a lot of other games against divisional opponents." Me: "The Pirates?" Them: "Er, yah?"
  11. Twins fans are at my expense tonight. Go Brewers!
  12. Fun for the Power 50. I'm not convinced about him, but best of luck working your way up, Mr. Rogers!
  13. Just chiming in on this one, no TV in front of the computer... I haven't seen the Brewers in a few weeks, but they seem to be the same club that just can't get an extra base when they need it. Also, J. Bennett looks A LOT better then when I saw him last. Fastball has a lot of life on it tonight. GO BREWERS!
  14. This game blows. It's why we don't use the s***p word.
  15. "Winn. Popup. In play. Podsednik. Got it." Uecker don't need no superfluous words.
  16. I like the idea of the bunt because of who the runner was. Pitchers have to be dealt with conservatively on the basepaths, often as station to station runners. Especially with his recent injury problems, I wouldn't want to see him trying to score from second base even in a remotely close situation at home plate.
  17. Yah, that Harper kid threw a seed today, even if it wasn't in Adelanto. A few more starts like this and off to Huntsville to compete with 10 other pitchers for 1 spot in the rotation and 3 spots in the lineup. Note to Mel Queen: Callix Crabbe is a #2 hitter, not a leadoff hitter.
  18. Brewers win! 4 games over .500 for the first time since the sweep suits incident. Shhh... Last time they were 5 over? 5/23/2001. Shhh...
  19. Pat Borders? You have to be kidding me. Don't let him do that to you, Doug.
  20. I admit, I'm getting chills listening to the Paul Molitor ceremony at Miller Park right now. I just wish they'd have bought a better mic. 'Atta boy, Paully. Makes me proud to be a Brewers fan.
  21. I'm convinced that Team Canada drafted LeClerq because they thought he was Canadian. He sounds more Canadian than some of the real Canadians. $172 K for an 11th rounder. That's not a bad pay day.
  22. Top of the 8th: Beloit 8, Cedar Rapids (Angels) 2 TBD does us right, whomever it was. Details pretty soon.
  23. Indianapolis at Charlotte (White Sox), ppd. The game was postponed due to inclement offense, er, rain and will be made up as part of a doubleheader tomorrow at 5:15.
  24. As another off-topic thing... Billy Wagner has 24 K's and no walks this season in 17 innings. Wow.
