  1. "There's a righthander up in the Brewers' bullpen." Thanks, Bob.
  2. Nelson got tossed right after the force play at second base. No one realized it until just know, from what I can tell. Today's game is downright confusing.
  3. Nothing against Wes Covington, but we do need to kind of know what's going on on the field, Bob. I'm not even sure who was pitching that inning.

Two times as many SB as anyone else in the league, yet no power. Small ball in Coors Field doesn't win ballgames, folks. (Though I'd like all of our teams to lead their leagues in walks.)
  5. utlitanionistic -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Huh?? Utilitarianism - philosophic idea founded by J.S. Mill and Jeremy Bentham based on the idea that everything you do should be done for the greater happiness and the only thing that matters in life is happiness, and making sure the most people are happy. To bring this to five degrees of off-topicness... Bjames, have a beer.
  6. Not to be blunt, but there needs to be a joint effort between the hitting and the pitching for the Brewers to get square in the win column.
  7. Rancho Cucamonga (Angels) 11, High Desert 1 Chris Morris had three stolen bases and the bullpen had ten strikeouts to one walk in 8+ innings pitched, but that's about all the good news for the Mavs this evening. Starter Dave Nolasco got hammered and last only 2/3 of an innings, allowing six runs on four hits and the same number of walks. Hopefully this kind of box score will not be the norm like it became last season. And how about that Callix Crabbe? Showing up Weeks, he is. High Desert Site Game Summary: A Rancho Cucamonga Quake six-run first inning was enough to put away the High Desert Mavericks in a Mavericks 11-1 loss to the Quakes on Tuesday night at Mavericks Stadium, before 1,038. Quakes pitcher Jean Toledo (1-0) picked up the win in his first 2004 appearance, surrendering only a run on two hits in five and a third innings of work, along with four strikeouts and no walks. David Nolasco (0-2) suffered through a rough outing and took the loss for the Mavs, allowing six runs on four hits along with four walks in only two-thirds of an inning. The first eight Rancho Cucamonga (3-2) batters reached safely in the first inning, centered by Erick Aybar?s two-run triple and a two-run single by B.J. Weed. The Mavericks (2-4 ) collected their only run of the ballgame in the third inning, via a Callix Crabbe RBI triple which scored Froilan Villanueva. Rancho Cucamonga tacked on two more runs in the second on Greg Porter?s two-run homer to right, and expanded their lead to 9-1 on a David Gates RBI single. Adam Pavkovich?s RBI double in the 7th expanded the Rancho lead to 10-1, while Gates scored in the 9th on a Weed infield single and throwing error by Ozzie Chavez, finishing off the scoring. Toledo benefited with the huge offensive cushion by frustrating the Mavericks offense virtually all night long, retiring nine of 11 hitters at one point, spanning the third through sixth innings. Dan Kolb, who struck out five Quakes in three and a third innings of relief, provided a positive note for the Mavericks pitching staff by retiring a stretch of nine of ten hitters he faced, spanning the second through fourth inning. High Desert hosts Rancho Cucamonga Wednesday night at 9:05 (Central) in the third game of a four-game series and game three of a seven-game homestand to start the season for the Milwaukee Brewers high A affiliate. Ryan Costello (0-1) will take the hill for the Mavs, facing counterpart Phil Wilson (0-1). 8. Brewers are 2nd in the NL in OPS, .872 (STL - .989) Brewers are 2nd in the NL in SLG, .502 (STL - .621) And the only reason STL is ahead in both catagories is because STL played the Brewers four times. I rain on parades.
  9. One week into April and already about 100 more people per day. Not too bad at all. Go us. Go Brian.
  10. Just saw the highlights on Baseball Tonight... my gosh, Podzilla has a quick swing. You get spoiled by it last season, but after not seeing it for a few months... and a Web Gem to boot. Grieve looks like a stick. He can't weigh a pound over 200. That's a guy you need to get in the weight room and a way to prove that not all MLB players take steroids.
  11. When we're 1-8, this will be that much sweeter. Anywho, always nice to win on opening day. Go team.
  12. My Magic 8 ball says that these players are no longer with the organization: Chad Petty Calvin Carpenter Someone keep an eye on Toby...this may put him over the edge... My magic 8 ball says the Brewers suck. Between this and Ramirez being stuck in Helena for getting to camp out of shape, grr.
  13. I knew I should have moved Gemoll down to AA, but I just couldn't do it to the guy. I guess he could work on making better contact, but he's earned a promotion more than a lot of other people who have gotten one. If Parra starts in High Desert, good. They should start Sarfate there, too. I don't see Matt Parker's name, which I'll take as a good sign for now. And how far as Chris Morris fallen, exactly?
  14. It's official... Busiest. Month. Ever. We've really been battling. Thanks, everyone.
  15. I'm 90% sure I'll be at the Beloit games, and about 50% sure I'll be at the Brewers game. I'll know for sure either way for both in a few weeks.
  16. Al, you sound like my grandma. In a good way, of course. Yah, basically, no reason to do a Power 50 when nothing has happened. There will be one before the start of the minor league season, though.
  17. Released C Brian Foster, RHP Chris Gittings and OF Manuel Melo Foster... heh. He's supposedly pretty decent defensively, and has power, but he can't hit a darn thing. There are probably other guys I wouldv'e released first, but this isn't really that suprising with the emergence of Vanden Berg and Palmisano. Gittings was taken about three years ago late in the draft as a big, projectable high school arm, but only pitched 35 innings in three years. Injuries might have finally gotten the best of him. As for Melo, well, don't tell Brian.
  18. all you can drink soda That's no way to put hair on the dog.
  19. I've had problems logging in many times And we're just thankful that you haven't found out that you are about to be blacklisted... oh. Hoffy - no one is out to get you. I'd be willing to wager a lot of the posters here right now weren't even around for the ESPN thing. Have a Foster's. Lighten up. Brewerfan. It's Australian for baseball.
  20. Maybe this is our new lefty specialist. Or shall we sign another 10 pitchers? The Brewers are going to have to take out a loan for all these balls they are going to need for throwing around.
  21. Putting together a winning AAA team...that's about as far down the list of importance as you can get. Ya know, if you believe Bill James, AAAA players aren't that far removed from major league talent, so if your AAA team is good, that means your major league squad isn't that far away from being good, yah?
  22. As an answer to my own question, there are in fact 19 guys still officially assigned to DSL/VSL rosters, though they should be moved off of there in the next month or so, around spring training. They are, for all of you hardcore folk: Pitchers Chavez, Damauris (LH) - 19 Garrido, Juan (VSL) - 19 Laureano, Wilfrido - 20 Lluveres, Rafael (LH) - 19 Malave, Ronny - 18 Mendoza, Luis (LH) - 20 Ochoa, Miguel (VSL) - 19 Pina, Angel - 19 Rojas, Pedro - 19 Romero, Jose - 20 Catchers Corredor, Nestor - 20 Lopez, Yonnata - 19 Infield Iribarren, Hernan (LH) - 19 Vicioso, Osvaldo (LH) - 17 Outfield Amaya, Octavio (LH) - 18 Parejo, Freddy - 19 Do with that info what you will.
  23. I'd be curious to know if the 4 guys presently listed on the DSL roster are still officially part of the organization or not. Since the Brewers don't have a team in the Dominican any more, you would think MLB wouldn't let them protect anyone on a phantom roster. Did they get promoted to the AZL at some point, or were they all released and we never heard about it?
  24. Hardcore Brewerfaners may remember Shawn from such things as the other guy on my trips down to Arizona and the red-headed other guy at the inaugural FanFest. What is worse is he has a Brewerfan.net bumper sticker on his car, and I still haven't put mine on my new ride yet. Shenanigans to that.
  25. Kusiewicz was a prospect of some note for the Rockies in the late 90's before having some injury problems. He just turned 27, but he seems to be pegged as a reliever now instead of a starter. Could be a very good signing.
