  1. Peavy, don't you see... the Dodgers didn't have the lead, so they couldn't warm him up. He's the "save guy," remember? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. The Brewers' team ERA was in the high 4's-low 5's about three weeks ago, IIRC. Their current tERA is 4.25, which is still only good for 12th best in the NL, though it's also only .4 higher than 5th place. They've definitely made some good progress (or gotten lucky) lately, and I have to say that Maddux has done a much better job than Wynegar so far this season in terms of turning dudes into baseball players.
  3. Paul Stewart's promotion to Indianapolis, semi-prophecied in the latest Power 50: "Given all his experience in AA, Paul could find his successful relief self in Indianapolis sooner than later." Ka-ching!
  4. I'm going to move to a lightweight container You need a fancy computer program for that? Use your hands, man. Don't lift with your back.
  5. Kind of a disappointing day today. Any Ballouli day is a good day. Edit: And if Moreira starts, Eveland is probably also pitching today, unless they got off that and I missed it.
  6. When is the last time a full time closer went a full month without striking anyone out? Kolb is just about on the verge of that, but he gets the job done anyway. Nice game to listen to today.
  7. The Brewers (21-20) try to avoid being swept in their rain-shortened two game series against the Pirates (19-20). The Pirates have also taken all four games in the season series against the Brewers, so 'Crew starter Doug Davis (3-3, 4.04) will look to reverse that trend against the Bucs and slumping Kip Wells (3-4, 4.26). Game time is 12:35 CST and the weather outlook is overcast but dry. 8. Nine more names of the Arizona/Helena Rosters, and all are new contracts signed by players from somewhere in Latin America. As of the moment, we don't have anything other than names and positions on these cats. Helena 1B Carlos Gallardo Arizona RHP Carlos Cespedes RHP Jesus Chourio OF Oscar Emeterio OF Herman Jimenez RHP William Labasta RHP Dany Mosquea RHP Miguel Parejo RHP Jose Vilario Also, recent DFE signees RHP Robert Hinton, LHP Justin Wilson, and OF Joel Rivera all have been assigned to Arizona.
  9. I've seen Fogg's name listed everywhere this morning.
  10. Current conditions for Pittsburgh, PA: www.weather.com/weather/l...earch_city The Brewers (21-19) will try again today in Pittsburgh to stretch their winning streak to three games, and Ben Sheets (4-2, 2.90) looks to continue his recent domination. After a rain-out yesterday, the Brewers will look to start a quick two-game sweep against the Pirates (18-20), the only sixth-place team in baseball. Josh Fogg (1-4, 7.75) will go today for the Pirates. Game time is 6:05 CST. 11. Well, Raburn is already in AA. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Chavez has been hot hot hot. Could be him, Candelaria, Boyd, or Morris. Anywho, back into the depths of the minor leagues. All these transactions occured back in late March or early April: Not released after all MR Danny Stout (R+) Promoted from DSL to R+ C Nestor Corredor 2B Hernan Iribarren Promoted from DSL to R C Yonnata Lopez CF Freddy Parejo MR Ronny Malave MR Rafael Lluveres MR Wilfredo Laureano Promoted from R to R+ CF Dallas Bates MR Miguel Garcia SP Tommy Hawk 2B Will Lewis LF Adam Mannon SP Ryan Marion SP Alvaro Martinez SP Tyler Morrison C Bryan Opdyke SP Edwin Walker SP Robbie Wooley There's still nine more players on the Helena/Arizona rosters that we don't have listed, but we don't anything besides names on them, so we'll list them as soon as we have some more info.
  12. The following players have been released by the Brewers off the DSL or VSL rosters: CF Octavio Amaya RHP Jose Romero RHP Pedro Rojas RHP Angel Pina RHP Juan Garrido (VSL) RHP Miguel Ochoa (VSL) LHP Luis Mendoza LHP Damauris Chavez There are also a number of additions to the Arizona and Helena rosters, but I'll post those as I get to them later tonight.
  13. FYI, they'll be back at 3:00 CT with an update on the rain from Bob the weatherman. Edit: They will be back again at 3:15 CT.
  14. They'll likely wait as long as possible before cancelling today's game. If there's any chance they could get in 5 innings before tonight, they do it because of the massive headache rescheduling this game would induce.
  15. INDIANAPOLIS (AAA) MONTREAL Ryan Knox CF Endy Chavez CF Steve Scarborough SS Jamey Carroll 2B Corey Hart RF Terrmal Sledge 1B Jeff Liefer 1B Orlando Cabrera SS Jon Nunnally CF Matt Cepicky LF Chris Magruder DH Juan Rivera RF Scott Sheldon 3B Brian Schneider C Alex Delgado C Andy Fox 3B Luis Figueroa 2B Tomo Ohka P Who scores more runs?
  16. I don't know about anyone else, but I am going to be real interested in the Indy game and how the starting pitcher does. Obermueller should be listening to this one, too.
  17. Bored? Nothing to do? Are you in Puerto Rico? Were you thinking about going to Puerto Rico this afternoon? The Brewers (20-19) finish up their season series with the Expos (14-26) this afternoon down in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Game time is at 1:35 CST. After splitting the first two games, the Brewers will be looking for the win in the rubber match and to whip the Expos five games to one for the season series. Matt Wise (0-0, 9.00) makes his third appearance and first start as a Brewer. The former Angel and Tommy Johnee has pitched three innings with the Brewers, allowing three runs (all earned) on four hits, two walks, and five K's. Wise has pitched once this season against the Expos, pitching two innings of two hit, three K relief. The Expos will counter with starter Tomo Ohka (1-5, 3.92), another Expos pitcher victimized by horrendous run support. 18. So you don't want to encourage people to be general baseball fans, just Brewer fans. C'mon, David, you know you can post cynical nuggets on any baseball team you want. I just think trying to lump all of baseball outside of Milwaukee into one thread would be a bit confusing.
  19. It's a good idea in theory, but I think it's pretty rare that there are more than a few posts on any given MLB subject outside of Brewerdom. As I type this, there are about 12 posts in the RJ perfect game thread. Historic event and all... 12 posts... meh. Sosa on the DL with sneezes... 1 post... double meh. And consolidation of two events like that into one thread would just be confusing. "Johnson blew his perfect nose and landed on the Braves' DL? Wha?" Maybe if the Brewers are still in the race come August, we can have a nightly "Playoff Chase" thread, but until then (like that'll happen anyway), I don't see it as being a big deal. It's kind of like the Minor League In-Game Thread idea... sounds good, but it would just end up being confusing. People have also been good about not starting two threads on the same topic as of late (Kat is pleased), and rampant poll use is also on the decline (MassBrew is pleased). Everyone give yourselves high-fives on that one. or we could just keep creating a new one of these everyday like we have been for the past 2.5 years Posting anarchy is neat.
  20. http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/430606.jpg Welcome to the show, Mr. Adams. May your stay be long.
  21. Am I the only one who is about to fall asleep trying to pay attention to this game? Single, blah, single, blah, double play, blah.
  22. 18 games in a row now for Overbay. Atta boy.
  23. Weird trivia: the Expos' current rotation features five starters from five different countries. Livan Hernandez - Cuba Zach Day - USA Sun-Woo Kim - Korea Tomo Ohka - Japan Claudio Vargas - Dominican Republic I wonder how many other teams in baseball can claim this distinction?
