  1. We need to finish this ASAP. I don't want to go back to Milwaukee for game #5 and face Kennedy again.
  2. Since the Cardinals won the World Series in 2006 the NL central has only won 3 play-off games, all by the Brewers.
  3. The walk to Hill was a killer. But we are OK. Meanwhile, the Packers are trying to move up in the BCS standings.
  4. I watched almost every game this season. Tonight I worked. I remember going to a game in 1994 before the strike thinking that the Brewers would be in Charlotte soon. This is special.
  5. Casey stands too far off of the plate. You can't hit for power when you are off of the plate like that. I also think that he just doesn't see the outside pitch very well because of standing so far off of the plate. He probably felt like he was being tied up on inside pitches early in the season. He has solved that. Since Edwin Jackson nobody bothers pitching him in. They don't need too.
  6. We have one of our top-notch pitchers facing a little-used, not very successful emergency starter. We seem to have a hard time winning these kind of games.
  7. I don't think Prince said anything that inflammatory in his interview(from what I know of the interview). We all know that we can't afford to re-sign Prince. Prince's teammates also know that we can't re-sign Prince. Prince is going to turn down $20 million from us for $25 million somewhere else. Given what happened to his Dad I can understand why he would want the most money he can get. I think that most people on the board would change employers for that kind of a raise.
  8. We are pressing (dare I say choking?) at the plate, that is for sure. Of course we never make any changes to our line-up in order to juice it up. If RR were managing the 2002 Angels, K-Rod would have never would have got into a meaningful game and the Angels never would have won the world series. Honestly, I expected this in this series. Things that should come easy never do for teams struggling. We need to face a pitcher with nothing and blast him. Then we will relax. I don't know if that would happen. I may be mistaken, but I think that the last time we roughed up a starter it was Edwin Jackson on August 3rd. We have done some damage against weak bullpens during that time, but our offense has been sleeping for a while.
  9. Not trying to be a jerk, but Sal batted right-handed.
  10. What worries me right now is that the Cardinals are playing better baseball than us. Are they going to get hot like we were in August? We need the Braves to help us out tomorrow.
  11. Everybody is getting Casey out by pitching him outside. I don't think that he is trying to pull everything, I think that he stands too far from the plate. He can't tell what is a strike and what isn't. It seems on some nights that he would need Alfonso Soriano's bat to reach the outside pitch if he could tell. Lefties or righties probably see no reason to pitch him inside when he stands so far off of the plate. That makes those splits almost meaningless.
  12. We all know about Narvy's tendency for bad innings. Yet, it took a long time for RR to get someone up. A previous poster called the Cardinals a better team than us. I refuse to believe that. We are just in a stretch where we don't have any hot hitters (except for Corey Hart). I wouldn't be surprised if we hit a rough stretch though. Teams not used to a pennant chase tend to struggle towards the finish line. That is why I am hoping the Braves and Phillies can give us some help in the next week. Hope the Braves aren't suffering from scheduling burn-out.
  13. Like the rest of you, I am very disappointed in our situational hitting the last two nights. The black hole behind Prince has returned. Why does Casey stand a mile off of the plate and then consistantly let pitchers get him out on the outside corner? We could have used Gamel the last couple of days as a pinch hitter. I don't feel very good about the Phillies series. Hopefully the Braves will help us out against the Cardinals. I am not worried about where we fall in the play-offs at this point, I just want to be in them. I would like to clinch early so that we could work Rickie in easier. I do know that if we go .500 the rest of the way the Cardinals would have to win out in order to tie us. I would just like to see us have a strong September and storm into the playoffs, that would be the opposite of what we did in 82 and 08.
  14. Yo doesn't exactly have pinpoint command tonight. It also seems that he can't get a curveball called for a strike.
  15. It is easy to complain about this line-up. But it seems to me that these "Sunday" line-ups have been fairly successful this season. I hope it is successful again tonight.
  16. I am not going to respond to the veteran vs. rookie debate. I am just going to say that we better buckle-up because this last month of the season is going to be a wild ride.
  17. I wonder who has a higher batting average against us this year? Albert Pujols or the Cardinals pitching staff? I think what we are seeing in this series (so far) is the law of averages at work. We have played the Cardinals so many times in the last month. Jackson was bound to shut us down at some point. Wolf was bound to have a bad game against them at some point this month. That is why I have been reluctant to get too excited about this lead (I have posted that). I am not saying we won't win the division, I am just saying I think the division will come down to the final days of the season.
  18. This loss puts a little pressure on us now. We don't want to get swept. We don't want the Cards to become confident. We know how hot the Rockies got in 2007. One win in this series makes it tough for them. Of course, two makes it really tough. If we could have beaten them tonight you may have seen Berkman traded. Now they will be in it for the long haul.
