  1. They're obviously not going to trade Villanueva. It makes no sense when a team is in contention to trade away a player who would be a huge contributor in the playoffs, at least for a rental. If it were a situation like the Dodgers had a couple years ago, where they got Penny for a few years, that would be different (granted, they traded away bad players like LoDuca and Encarnacion).
  2. Come on Kaz Matsui!
  3. You are kidding me... Cubs rule. I'm pumped to see Tulo get so hot lately. I was really high on him before the draft, and he's taking off now.
  4. Man, that is just awful.
  5. I might have to capture the audio of the last out and make it my startup sound for Windows. I put a link in my post a couple posts up, if you want it. You'll just have to parse that last out if you want to. Keeping that in mind, if he's still a power pitcher, he could be a great 7th inning option. I think this year, he's definitely going to be a good guy for that spot, but I hope in the future they give him a shot to be a starter in Milwaukee.
  6. Unreal tonight for Manny. Maybe they should stick with him as a starter for a while. Here's Parra's 9th inning: www.yousendit.com/transfe...7D7F5D9885
  7. Ahem... www.nashvillesounds.com/listenlive/
  8. Well, I'm all for some Spurling or Capellan action in the 9th.
  9. Is that a Badger Mutual Insurance Run? It's the Webb's Burger Run. Stop by your neighborhood George Webb's and pick up 6 burgers for $5.
  10. Oh, for sure. I'm not saying that I think that's what happened, I'm just saying that it is possible. I guess we'll have to just wait and see. I imagine they're going to shelve the whole McMahon/assassination gimmick, too?
  11. I really think people don't need to freak out every time Turnbow comes in. He has had a few bad games this year, but in general he has been pretty solid all year.
  12. Braun is just ridiculous right now. He's going to be totally unreal when he starts to walk a little more and doesn't swing at as much junk.
  13. It's very possible for a gas leak to have started over night while everyone in the house was sleeping.
  14. Your saying to listen to The National if I like Spoon? I will for sure check them out then since Spoon is my favorite band. Not necessarily to listen to them if you like Spoon, rather just listen to them if you like good music. They're not a lot like Spoon. More often than not they get compared to artists like Leonard Cohen (I would disagree), The Silver Jews (the singers sound similar), and Tindersticks (probably the most accurate comparison). I just like them a lot. At the end of the year, their album "Boxer" is going to be in the top three on a lot of best of lists. EDIT: The National's appearance on NPR's "All Songs Considered" is available in the iTunes Music Store in the Podcasts section if anyone is interested.
  15. I think this is cool... Corey Hart, 2007: .318/.395/.540, 10 HR Carlos Lee, 2007: .291/.339/.495, 12 HR I guess a lot of us were wrong when we said Hart could match Lee. He's actually better than him ti this point.
  16. If it's not a work, that's a shame.
  17. thebruce - "Challengers" is pretty much fantastic. I think it's their best album since "Mass Romantic". Definitely a different sound, for sure, and some longer songs. At it's heart, it's still just another great indie-pop album from the masters of the genre. "Ga ga ga ga ga" is a pretty good album, too. I like it better than "Gimme Fiction", which is the album that pretty much turned me off of Spoon for a while. I recommend The National to anyone who has never listened to them. Seriously, just get the entire catalog. I started to listen to them about 6 or 7 months ago, and I don't think a week has gone by where I haven't listened to at least one of their albums.
  18. I certainly wouldn't mind getting Buehrle to displace Vargas from the rotation, but I think the price is going to be too high for what the Brewers will want to give up. They have to keep one eye on 2007 and another on the future. I think if they do somehow acquire him, that it's going to be strictly a rental and that Buerhle will go to the Cardinals in the offseason.
  19. It's a "Cooperstown Collection" hat, and since Yount is a Brewers representative in Cooperstown, and won an MVP in '89, that is why the hat says "1989" on the back.
  20. Yeah, he's got a back back and a bad hip. That's why he left the game early on Wednesday and missed Tuesday's game.
  21. Counsell gets on base and works the count very well. Against a guy with spotty control like de la Rosa, that's a great thing to have at the top of the order. That lineup makes sense, as far as Ned goes (I'd still rather see Weeks hit second, but whatever).
  22. Royals: DeJesus German Teahen Brown Gordon Shealy Buck Pena JDLR Brewers: Hart Counsell Braun Fielder Hall Estrada Mench Weeks Suppan
  23. Zambrano is just ridiculous right now. In his lat 28 2/3 IP, he's given up 3 ER and has 33 K's. Regression to the mean in a serious way. What a great pitcher, too bad the Cubs didn't decide to keep Barrett over him. And the punter got hurt again. He just came off the DL today and had to leave after the top off the first. Vintage Erstad. That is a brutal offense, just loaded with guys who make outs. But Erstad was the grittiest, stubbliest son-of-a-gun they had.
