  1. The theme song to the ESPN Fantasy Focus podcast is stuck in my head all the time lately.
  2. He's pretty incredible. His potential is definitely that of a perennial Cy Young candidate. He's there already. I really hope he can avoid severe injuries from here on out. I am very glad he's refined his mechanics, because I know watching him pre-injury, all I could see in my head was Mark Prior (who was probably my favorite pitcher to watch before he broke down).
  3. The first thing that came out of my mouth watching Braun start to dive was "ewwww".
  4. Just gut reaction after seeing him be out by quite a good amount and then looked like he stared him down after the play. I'm not saying he should get hit - I hate intentional plunkings and think they have no place in the game.
  5. I'll have to watch it on MLB.TV. I usually watch all of the Jays games but I didn't catch yesterday's.
  6. There aren't going to be any major moves made in April. Everybody is still in it. There will be garbage for garbage deals like Byrd for Bowden, but not any trades of importance. If the Red Sox decided to panic, they would probably just move Bard permanently back to the bullpen after the rain out last night.
  7. A lot of guys go broke on "investments", not just by the stereotypical way of supporting their friends and families.
  8. The Jays shift a ton on LHB's and always put him in the 2B position. He's made a few good plays out there this year.
  9. Hart's looking like he might be sliding into "chasing sliders off the plate mode" for a little while again.
  10. Remember when Yuni used to make that play all the time? Me, neither.
  11. I think Hamels goes to the Dodgers.
  12. Athletes go broke all of the time. Just in the past few months, Mark Brunell and Warren Sapp come to mind. Antoine Walker just retired from the D-League after trying to keep playing after going broke. Every player should try and get every red cent they can, while they can.
  13. Some of it is on him, some on Cherington (and Theo before, and whoever in the ownership group also decides to make personnel moves i.e. Lucchino) for not giving him much of a bullpen to work with - and guys like Melancon spectacularly bombing out at the start of the year.
  14. Might as well give this one a bump. In case people weren't following, the Sox blew a 9-0 (it was 9-1 entering the 7th) lead against the Yankees and ended up losing 15-9. I wasn't watching the game start to finish. Was Bobby V planning on getting 6 outs with Aceves when he brought him in in the 8th? That was destined to fail if that was the case. Plus, Tito will be in the building tomorrow night in plain sight of the fans in the Sunday Night Baseball booth. It could be fixing to get ugly if Bard doesn't have a good start in prime time. I could see ESPN producers having a good time ripping on an ex-employee with all of the storylines involved in it.
  15. This Yankees/Red Sox game... Yikes.
  16. I am happy he hasn't been bunting with the #2 hitter this year, but that probably has more to do with the .290 OBP that Weeks is carrying at the moment.
  17. I'm going to call the small sample police if people don't start giving the guy a chance.
  18. I second this. His stuff was electric. I think he will carve out a good career as a reliever, though. Too bad he didn't get to be that #2/3 starter that he had the ability to be before the injuries mounted.
  19. Even if you feel the alternatives may have been better, it still hurts to lose a guy that can give the team a solid season's worth of starts like Narveson. It hurts the depth a great deal.
  20. Kemp must not have thought he was going. Don't know how else to explain that throw.
  21. I really don't see much point at all in a glove first back-up 1B, especially with the same handedness as the starter. The bench lacks power in a huge way. I am as big of a Kottaras fan as there is, but when he's the best power bat on your bench, that's not a great thing.
  22. RR said that Ramirez would have played SS and Gamel would have been at 3B.
