  1. Definitely one of the most under-appreciated players of his generation, pretty much by every segment of fan. Fred McGriff is a great comparison, though if I had to choose one of them for the Hall, it would be the Crime Dog. I'm a big fan, but I don't think he'll make it in. I would think that maybe if the voters decided they were going to do some moral high horse thing and use a guy like Konerko to represent the "he did it the right way" contingent, he could get in. However, I think as the older generation of HOF voters start to fall by the wayside, a new group of voters who will be much more understanding of the "steroid era" will be ushered in that won't care about that storyline.
  2. This is ridiculous. Seasons like this are why I will never buy the "health is a skill" theory. The vast majority of it is just dumb luck.
  3. If he hits 500 he should definitely be in. He's one of my favorite players ever, though, so I am undoubtedly biased.
  4. That's how far Ike Davis has fallen. He is giving way to Rottino at 1B lately.
  5. I am curious to see how he does if they give him a chance, for sure.
  6. It really doesn't matter at this point. It's different flavors of suck.
  7. He also is second in the league in HR right now. Second in walks. Tenth in OPS. Fifth in RBI. The White Sox should have just given up on him.
  8. I bought a PS3 last week as well and the MLB.tv experience with it is just fantastic. You're able to do a lot more stuff that you can't on the Roku, like different audio feeds. Right now I am watching the Braves using their radio feed so that I can listen to Jim Powell. He's still fantastic as ever.
  9. I was thinking Lasik.
  10. How about getting Sexson out of retirement?
  11. Get Bush and Branyan and let's get this party started.
  12. Terrifying Yup. Works for me.
  13. Parra's a good reliever and a bad starter. So I agree, why screw with it? Not to mention the stamina issues that are already involved with moving a guy from the pen to the rotation in June.
  14. Sometimes stuff doesn't work out, even when it makes sense. Prince Fielder was never going to be more than a 6 year Brewer the day he was drafted. The end. It's a strawman argument to even bring him up like he was an option to be on the 2012 Brewers. He wasn't.
  15. Playing baseball well factors in, right? In that case, I would think the greatest player of a generation will probably go in.
  16. Unless it's Mike Jones in 2010.
  17. On the bright side, they didn't sign Jimmy Rollins. Turrible!
  18. It was a filthy breaking ball that he chased off the plate.
  19. Yeah, they will all certainly go in within a few years. I would think that McGwire will be in in two more years, as well.
  20. At first I thought he hit a line drive. Then I saw it bounce in front of the shortstop. Amazing.
  21. It says a lot that the team has come to this. And it's only May!
  22. This shouldn't be an issue this season. I'd like Paul Goldschmidt or Brandon Belt, since their managers apparently hate them.
