  1. A couple years ago we (including me) were all bent out of shape when RR would dogmatically stick with the 7/8/9 inning guy roles. This year he's more flexible by matchup. I get that some would argue Smith doesn't fit since his splits don't show a big R/L difference, but Kintzler is an awfully good option at that point. I had no problem with how he's used Smith or anyone else in the pen this year. What were his splits in the minors?
  2. Now I see where Maldy got his right jab from. Hrabosky...if he was a Brewer he would have been a punk. In St. Louis, a classy tough guy espousing the Cardinal way.
  3. http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/46798/brewers-fixes-to-ryan-brauns-absence If Weeks could learn to play RF, he'd be a much better option in the lineup with regular at bats.
  4. I disagree with all the Weeks bashing. Aside from the position inflexibility of being 2B only, that's a way better last PH bat off the bench than most teams have. His last several plate appearances he's been hitting the ball hard. He may not be what he was, and he won't be worth $9mm this year but that's a sunk cost. I'd also like to avoid Scooter wearing out like Segura did last year. Having a soft platoon that gets Weeks 30+ starts makes sense to me. I'd rather have his bat than any other ones I see in Nashville. If that changes around the trading deadline so be it.
  5. If we have Wooten, Figaro and even Fiers and Nelson on the Nashville shuttle...plus a Henderson and Gorzo on the DL, there are plenty of options to keep young Mr. Wang buried deep in the bullpen, to be used as the last stop before Maldonado. Just doesn't seem he's hurting anything. It will just require Melvin to be more active with player moves.
  6. brewmann, you carrying one of those Motorola StarTac's or something a little older? ;-)
  7. I have to think #wcww will anger the Cards even more. I can see Yadi throwing punches to protect the sanctity of the Arch. There's no smiling in St. Louis...this is serious!!!
  8. When the night ends (mercifully), the Brewers will still have the best record in baseball. Just don't get hurt boys!
  9. Awesome quote. With Lohse out there it's like the craptastic 2002 lineup with Ben Sheets starting. That used to be the one day out of 5 they actually had a chance.
  10. Question about last night: Didn't Roenicke pinch hit with Overbay, then put Maldonado at 1B at the bottom of the inning when Ramirez was hurt? Couldn't he have just kept Overbay in at 1B? According to TH twitter (sorry, don't have link)...he already signaled for Thornburg when he found out Ramirez was out so OB was out of game. I had thought they didn't double switch at the time so it was too late since Ramirez got hit after OB's at bat. Nothing RRR could do.
  11. Probably Yo...but if we got Kotsay to come back and play CF, I'd feel about the same with any of them.
  12. Anyone else close to having a baby? Maybe they could get a paternity leave.
  13. Didn't they have to remove him since they didn't pull a double switch when they put him in? ARam didn't get hurt until after.
  14. As good of a punch as Maldy put in on Snider...it pales in comparison to a good hockey fight. Go Kings Go.
  15. That Gomez bunt may have been the most beautiful thing I've seen all year.
