  1. Stirrups are the key to any baseball uniform.
  2. Gotta agree with WTP...I cannot stand the gold unis. They are beyond ugly. We will look back on these unis the same way the late 90s unis were even uglier than the team. Just awful.
  3. Record: 80-82 All Stars: Lucroy, Braun will deserve it but be snubbed Biggest Surprise: Weeks plays well enough to be traded, Peralta Biggest Disappointment: Gennett, all things 1B (I see Scott Tolzein battling Yuni B by mid-year) Playoffs: No Place in Division: 3rd World Series: Rangers over Nats Last year felt like risk was to downside, this year I think it's to the upside. I could see 74-90 wins this year and not be surprised. Would not surprise me to see them challenge for a WC playoff spot.
  4. This signing is much less debatable between the rebuild/retool/win now factions. While Lohse certainly made the team better last year, it was a legit debate if it made them better enough (it didn't) while giving up a pick (a big cost, Seid picking it aside). The Lohse signing was mutually exclusive between the various pursuits. The only impact on the rebuild of signing Garza is making the team better and dropping them in the draft. The money is affordable and having the team competitive probably puts more butts in the seats so it likely pays for itself at least early on in the contract. Yes, I wish we had better young cost controlled pitching, but we don't. Maybe some of these guys like Thornburg or Nelson develop, but the last several years is just littered with the dregs of some bad drafts. This won't change with or without Garza. Hopefully the team can remain competitive at the MLB level while getting better at drafting and development. This organization will need to get it's farm into the middle of the pack in a few years or they'll get forced into an Astros style rebuild. At this point retool is still an option, but if they aren't better that option will be off the table. They really need to look hard into the mirror to see if they have the right people calling the shots.
  5. Japan may not be far enough away…was hoping he'd play for that science vessel trapped in Antarctica…I hear they have a decent co-ed softball team.
  6. Interest rates are low so it should be less of an issue.
  7. Hank Aaron absolutely deserves to be on that wall, despite not completely hitting my requirements. He had a long tenure with the City's team, obviously only 2 late years with the Brewers. Not just a HOFer, but a top ten all time player. MVP of Milwaukee's only WS, just not with the Brewers. However, just think of what he meant to baseball in the city. He put fans in the stands when the team was struggling with the scars of the Braves move. He's also a historical figure that transcends the game. Outside of Jackie Robinson, there aren't many who are as consequential to the game as Hank. He's ours. He's never been anything but supportive of Milwaukee as a city and a community. With all due respect to Robin Yount, and he'd be the first one to say this, Hank Aaron is the greatest player ever to don a Milwaukee Baseball uniform and is the most important figure in Milwaukee baseball history (although Selig would be a valid argument). His number shouldn't just be retired...the team should be playing at Aaron Park, located at 44 Aaron Park Way.
  8. I agree with casey. They retired Fingers number when they were desperate to celebrate some history. You look at that wall and say who doesn't belong up there it's Rollie...and I freaking love Rollie. If there was one guy to replace him with I'd go Cecil Cooper since he had a longer tenure with the club, but in general I'd have just kept Rollie off and left it with the rest of them. I wouldn't retire Hoffman or even Fielder. Braun has the best shot, but time will tell. The requirements need to be long tenure with team, majority of career including re-upping with a contract (Braun > Fielder here), HoF career and some flag flying in the outfield. Those are my requirements. There are many other options like the Walk of Fame to honor important players who may not cut it to the elite echelon. Let's not be the Bucks and retire everyone. Keep it exclusive.
  9. I'll just never understand the Weeks hate from Brewers fans. As pointed out before, I get the frustration if the expectations were a bust in Canton. However Rickie has had his moments including the best season ever by a Brewers 2B. I do worry that injuries have taken too great a toll on him, but for the most part he's been a second quartile producer among MLB 2B during his career with moments above like his AS year and below like last year or periods of injury. In my book, this franchise has had a laundry list of FA and draft busts...Weeks doesn't even come close to the top 100. As far as top quality hard workers this franchise has had...except for the top tier which includes only Robin Yount, I'd put Weeks right up there.
  10. I think Doug is waiting to see what comes out of Fantasy Camp this year.
  11. Awesome…now he's somewhere I can root for him with a clear conscience! Go get 'em Ax!
  12. It took all year long for me to get on the local team's bandwagon...but mocking the Cards has finally done it. Go Dodgers!!!
  13. Yuni is finally helping the team...to get a higher draft choice.
  14. Wow...opening day in Boston is quite the marquee game. Always happy to see the Dodgers on a weekend...only happens every 4-5 years.
  15. Always liked Ax...but this is probably the best they could do. No way you can pay him $4-5mm next year. Heck, with the trade there's a better chance of him coming back after a non-tender than if we keep him.
  16. Given the Fox Sports 1 & 2 launches, there will likely be plenty of opportunities inside the Fox family for BA. The beauty of the Brewers gig is he can be the play by play guy for us then still get in plenty of extra work at Fox, like he's done for Turner and BTN. My personal opinion is we're really lucky to have him...real lucky. He's by far one of the better ones out there. Agree on Joe Block...I was hoping we'd trade him for a prospect before the deadline.
  17. Went to my first and only game on Friday night. Spent way too much of it in line getting food for my family...didn't occur to me at first that things were so crowded due to the vouchers. No one in the lines seemed to mind...if anything it took them away from watching the ugliness on the field. We were with a big group and most of them left in the 7th or 8th. It kind of reminded me of a Dodgers game...long, slow moving concession lines and people leaving early...all that was missing were some gang fights in the parking lot and a few beach balls.
  18. Always good to see pain on those fans faces...especially when they're all excited...hehehe...
  19. I always liked Chuckie Newhouse. I just keep hoping this Yuni thing will go away after the trading deadline...salt in the wounds at this point.
  20. Yay...going to my only game of the year at MP this Friday! Just when I thought they wouldn't really give away free beer.
  21. In 2011, the Brewers were probably a mid-high 80 win team that won 96 games. In 2013, they were probably a high 70-80ish win team that will probably wind up around 70 wins. Just regressing to their mean probably gets them close to .500. Is that competing? Kind of I guess...but they would need to improve their starting pitching to say they're a legit competitor. I'd rather see them make trades to set the team up for 2015 & beyond. They'll still have a number of solid players under control at productive contracts and can use some current chips to try and bolster the pitching. With all the injuries, the trades may be tough to accomplish but hopefully they can make strides. The worse case would be some type of perpetual purgatory where they don't lose enough to get decent picks or feel the need to trade enough to improve the farm system and yet aren't really competitive.
