  1. This is where I disagree with conventional baseball moves...I wouldn't mind seeing Torres here. It's the highest leverage situation in the game...top of the order coming and he can stick around for the meat of the order in the 8th.
  2. Gotta keep winning and get Sheets healthy for the playoffs.
  3. Yes...their announcer was ripping Ned for "crying like a 5 year old" after the game yesterday. He went on to say that is a hit 100% of the time and the Brewers should be worrying about not blowing their playoff shot like they did last year.
  4. Santana has been rolling lately, but I like Benny on an extra couple days of rest. If this thing is tight late in the game, I like our chances matching up bullpens.
  5. In the spirit of CC...I hereby call for a no sarcasm day!!! It's big boy time!!!
  6. Lost in all this hullabaloo was how classy CC was after the game. He says he should have made the play and it doesn't matter because they won. Not even a hint of a gripe, just a big smile and a W. It's those moments that make it so easy to root for CC and this team. The vibe from these guys is terrific. For me, I thought it was a borderline call that should have gone the Brewers way, but I will admit it was not a clear cut call. My beef is that if there is any question, the first hit call should go to the pitcher. They can always change it back later. Even if Webb thought it was a 70% chance it was an error...you gotta give the pitcher the benefit of the doubt. At this point, I'd rather they don't change it...Webb ruined the experience, and it would be just as controversial on the other end if he got it. Follow CC's lead and move on...get the wins and get in the playoffs.
  7. Only if its on the same day he comes back to town to get his ring. Regardless of what happens, CC is truly a special guy...as a player and a person. His attitude has been awesome. A true fan favorite...but to get the bobble, you gotta get the ring. At least an NL pennant.
  8. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz........zzzzzzzzzzzzzz............shhhhhhhh...the giants are sleeping.......
  9. Gotta keep them fresh for the home stretch. Not many days off left and a day game after travel tomorrow. Maybe Prince could use a day off versus the next lefty we face.
  10. Carsten v. Karstens...that has to be a first.
  11. They just switched over to the Brewers feed on DirecTV channel 737...HD only on Pirate feed.
  12. C'mon endaround...that was the media's fault.
  13. SeriesFinale and TH...you guys are my absolute heroes...you both nailed it...10.0s. Where do I start. Pujols, great player, but the guy wrote the book on admiring his homers. Hardly one to call out the Brewers. Him yelling at Villy was like a manager arguing with the ump for no reason to get thrown out and fire up his team. Maybe it worked, but if Riske wasn't throwing belt high meatballs to the heart of their order, it would have been a sidenote. The Cards - After watching the Cards throw helmets, play like they didn't care for 16 innings and whine like little babies...Villy somehow woke up this "Sleeping Giant". Please, you flatter yourself. You can sleep all you want in about a month. Cards fans. I've said it before...they may cheer, be somewhat knowledgable and support their team...but they are arrogant, have a sense of entitlement and think they are some kind of baseball royalty. I find it annoying. They've had plenty of showboats and roid freaks over the years that they all went ga ga over so gimme a break. Lastly...Tony...what more do you need to know than his best buddy is Bob Knight. Some may love the general and his buddy, but with the wins, the fans tend to overlook the baggage. TLR sticks up for his drunks and has started more beanball wars than anyone...including plunking our star right in the obliques last night. Despite nailing him right where he's been injured, Braun put his head down and sprinted to first...showing more class than I've ever seen out of that team. No one is saying the Brewers, Ned or the fans are perfect, but unlike the Cards...no one ever claimed to be.
  14. Statistically, Pujols has lapped the field. Next tier stat wise is probably Berkman, Chipper and Holliday. I agree with the poster before, it will be tough to get votes for them on losing teams. If Braun keeps it up, he's not that far behind and will be in key games on a contender that shows up more on SportsCenter. I think that gets him to number 2...gotta go with Pujols, the guy is unreal.
  15. While for the most part loyal and classy, the Cards fans seem to view themselves as some type of baseball royalty and frown upon those who refuse to kiss their ring or be beaten by it. The lowly peasants have awoke and it's time to end their season...Untuck 'em boys, untuck 'em.
  16. Cuzzi has it in for the Brewers (among others)...no doubt. This is by far the worst umpiring crew in MLB. I missed the game last night, but reading last night's thread and seeing all the ump comments were no surprise after finding out who was there. We'll see at least one ejection tonight.
  17. OK...I'll play along. @ St.L (1) - 0-1 @ Pit (3) - 2-1 v. NYM (3) - 2-1 v SD (4) - 3-1 v. Cin (3) - 2-1 @ Phi (4) - 2-2 @ Chi (3) - 1-2 @ Cin (3) - 2-1 v. Pit (3) - 3-0 v. Chi (3) - 2-1 That the path to 96 wins. Very doable, but probably takes one of those 6-8 game winning streaks (v. Cincy, Pit or SD) to make up for any stumbles like @ Philly or @ Chicago.
  18. This board would indeed implode, but it really is two different questions - 1) Does Yost have a chance at the award? The voters are not the bf.net junkies, they are sportswriters...most of which are just starting to pay attention to the Brewers now or post-the CC trade. It's all about who beat the preseason expectations. In that regard, he has a very good chance of winning this if they make the playoffs. 2) Does he deserve it? Personally, I am far too jaded to give valid response, but I do recognize he has done a far better job this year than last regardless of the wins and losses. I'd probably go with LaRussa or Gonzalez.
  19. Agreed...it's time to move on. I love the old logo and the new logo, but after the '82 reunion last year I was tired of hearing about '82. That was the best sports fan moment of my life, but it was a long time ago and I'm not 15 anymore. I want some new memories. Even the old players were saying that. It felt the way it did when my parents would tolerate how bad the Packers were because they remembered the sixties and still loved Bart even though he wasn't that good of a coach. I do think there are differences between that time and now. The AL East was amazingly competitive back then...more than the NL is now. There also seems to be a widening gap right now between the haves and have nots. While the Brewers pick up CC or the Dodgers get Manny...the Pirates and Reds each gave up arguably their best hitters. I think that is turning some 90-92 win teams into a 95-96 win teams.
  20. The Brewers, like anyone else, prices their concessions to maximize profit. If a hot dog is $4, someone is buying it. If people were willing to pay $6, it would be $6. Since they would sell far less dogs at $6, they price it at $4. Same for a bloody mary, a beer or one of those big foam fingers. With an owner who has shown a willingness to to pump the profits back into the product, I say enjoy those $10 bloodies and remember it's going to a good cause!!!
  21. The extra day of rest could really help Ben. If he keeps us in the game, I like our chances against that pen. Good at bats, drive up that pitch count and get to their weakness by the 7th...the recipe for success.
