  1. The current schedule has CC & Sheets in the final two games. If we can somehow wrap it up before that final series, both could slip into Game 1 & 2 on plenty of extra rest. The biggest hook to a change is to get CC to face the Mets and Phils. At least they won't get a look at him in case we see them in the playoffs. The back end of the rotation is doing so well, why mess with them. Maybe they re-evaluate after St. Louis.
  2. Maybe Karstens is mortal after all...I hope he's the same next Sunday. I sure hope the Cubs are worn out from rounding the bases by the time we see them next.
  3. How about average score per game Cubs v. Bears...that could be fairly even this year.
  4. Adam McCalvy's mailbag had this little nugget regarding the rotation, sounds like some modest juggling is in order. Yost surprised me Sunday morning by mentioning that Sabathia, Bush and Sheets are currently lined up to start the final regular-season series against the Cubs at Miller Park. That means he'll be juggling Bush's spot somewhat to line up Sabathia to pitch a potential postseason opener Oct. 1. http://milwaukee.brewers....ws_mil&fext=.jsp&c_id=mil
  5. Dear Rickey aka Doorman Just so you know, you've got some big fans outside of Milwaukee as well. I always know its a big hit when you get up out of your seat!!! Although I can't make it back on short notice for a game this year, I'd love to go next year. More than sitting in your seats, I'd be even more excited to sit in the seats next to you. If you get a chance during spring training next year and there's a way it works for you, I hope you have another auction with a little more notice. I for one would be excited to participate, contribute to those great charities and to fly back to go to a game. All the best, SoCal Brew Crew Fan Los Angeles, CA
  6. The thing that worries me less about the eastern teams, is it would take two of them to play well not just one. I could see one of them passing us, but not both. They play each other 5 times, but have plenty of games left against the Nats.
  7. That idiot fan cost the Brewers a run. Banned for life I say!!!
  8. The thing I really like about Prince is he can be effective even when his power numbers are down. He effectively shortens up his stroke with two strikes.
  9. Jeff Kent...can't believe I missed that one. How about Matt Capps? I still have nightmares about Joaquin Andujar. What a jerk.
  10. Say what you want abot Suppan, but the guy can really field his position. 3 nice plays tonight.
  11. Gary Sheffield...if he gets in the Hall, I will go to Cooperstown to boo him.
  12. Anyone know how Gorzo was in the minors? I was glad we aren't seeing Karstens, but Gorzo was their ace once upon a time. I guess he was 3-1 with a 2.06 ERA in 7 starts.
  13. Not a shred of help outside of the Nats...and I'm not sure that even matters. Keep Takin' Care of Business Brewers!!!
  14. Dear Ned You must be reading these posts. Thank you for batting Cam sixth. You are welcome. With deep affection, SoCal Brew Crew Fan
  15. Dear Ned Please reverse Cam & Hall in the batting order. Love, SoCal Brew Crew Fan
  16. No doubt pitch...he's just got the seat that I can see out here in LA. I know its a big hit when the Doorman gets up!!! I hope you get a good workout tonight...I'll be watching!!! Have a great time.
  17. The Nationals are so bad...this series is utterly hopeless.
  18. My guess is there is no one in the "core" (Weeks, Hardy, Prince, Hart & Braun) that is going anywhere. They will pursue extensions ala Braun or ride out the arby years. Bringing up 3-4 young guys to replace them will just put the Brewers in the spot they were in 2-3 years ago...a young lineup that is not quite ready for prime time. While there may be some future studs among those prospects, some will likely fail...it's tough to imagine that group as a hole will be better than the current core...and that core has yet to move into their prime. They are more likely to trade prospects, maybe a package for a player with 2-3 years left on their contract. That could happen in season if the Brewers are in it and a few teams hit the "no mas" button. Next years rotation should start with: Yo Parra Soup (no one will take on that contract...he's not going anywhere) Bush McClung That could keep us competitive if our run production goes up, but is probably not enough to win the division. The best case is we're equal to the pre-CC rotation if Yo can equal Sheets. I don't see any affordable FA (CC & Sheets will be priced out of our range) out there that will be worth the price. I would bet DM looks at 2-3 lower price "call options" to challenge for a spot, the way he worked with the bullpen after not signing Cordero. If he can find the 2008 version of Kyle Lohse, we could be in business. If all we get is the 2008 Jeff Weaver, we're likely around 500.
  19. Doorman is to the Brewers what Jack Nicholson is to the Lakers!!! Hey jwill...I will be timing your reaction to the Brewers homers tonight. The Doorman has a full second on the rest of his section...we expect you to be on your game!!!
  20. A simple "McClung" scenario might be to throw Seth on Sunday to slip CC & Sheets into St. Louis. With the days off later, it leaves the option of skipping a Suppan start to move Sheets forward a day if he's needed in the last series. It's also a wash for the Reds, although without Dunn & Junior its not as big of a deal...moving Parra in and CC out of those series.
  21. I do think Cam should and will be back next year, but one argument to the contrary is how do the Brewers get more OBP into the lineup. Certainly Weeks underperformance is a part of the problem, but CF is often a speed and OBP position. With all the mashers in the Brewers lineup, is there an ability to trade some of Cam's SLG for someone else's OBP, while keeping the defense and clubhouse presence at a similar dollar amount? Cam's OPS is very solid, I just wonder how it fits into maximizing overall run production for the team.
  22. Could not agree more. He's 137 points higher on OPS than Hall, and Hall spent a good amount of time platooning against lefties. Cameron and Kapler should both be back. The offense can not take another year of horrendous offensive performance from Bill Hall. The only problem is we have a choice on Cam's contract...we're locked in with Hall. This may be off subject, but why is Hall hitting in front of Cameron with that dramatic of a difference in offensive statistics (other than Ned used a Sharpie and a Xerox to fill out the position portion of the lineup cards). Cam should be in the 6 hole.
  23. As you pointed out, "minus the innings". Harden is averaging barely over 6 innings per start. CC is over 8, and in only 9 starts has managed to take over the league lead in complete games. When you leave games with the lead and three innings left, its not the same as sealing the deal. IMO, it's not even close.
  24. Sniff...sniff...I smell a big inning here...
