  1. Fell asleep to some Brewers podcasts...woke up, rolled over and immediately checked brewerfan, couldn't wait to share the day over the interwebs with my fellow Brewers nuts...yeah, I'm pumped. In '08, I wanted to win just to break through and get into the playoffs. Game 162 was huge and the playoffs were almost gravy. This year I want more...this season has been so awesome I don't want it to end. These guys are good and we all expect more! I've got my Plush jersey on with Brewers sweatpants and my cap...both kids in Braun jerseys, they both slept in my Brewers T's...I think we're second only to the Attanasios in Brewers garb in SoCal. Huge Badgers & Packers fan here...and I can think of nothing but the Crew...this is huge.
  2. I know we're all talking about OTC medication, but I still have bad memories of spending all that money for prescription Celebrex which caused nothing but heartache. Aspirin isn't perfect, but if you already bought a big bottle at the dollar store or even CVS, you might as well use it up if it's gotten you this far. You can always switch to ibuprofen when you're done.
  3. Normally the home/road splits seem to be just small sample sizes, but they seem to make some sense vs. Arizona. Miller Park gives up a bunch of homers so a strikeout pitcher like Greinke probably does better. Marcum gives up a bunch of fly balls, some of which seem to leak over the fence at MP...many of these are fly balls or doubles in AZ. I'm a little nervous about back to back short rests for Greinke. I just hope they are being honest with themselves in their evaluation of Greinke being able to do this.
  4. pitch...I got chills down my spine thinking about that. Now if we can just get Gene Hackman to come out of the dugout...
  5. DBacks in 5 Cards in 5 Yanks in 4 Rangers in 3 Cards in 5 Yanks in 5 Yanks in 5 Maybe I'm just imagining the worst possible outcome, but 29 years in the desert will do that to someone. The Brewers and DBacks look dead even to me...except for defense. I can't help but think one bad defensive play will blow a game and the series.
  6. He has a chronic illness. This is not exactly the easiest profession to choose when you have something like SAD. Yes, many of us would love to have a 95 mph fastball and all the fame and cash that goes with it...but many of those same people don't have to deal with a condition like SAD. If it was just some guy who's being a jerk or not a team player, yes he should suck it up and get out there. That isn't the case with Zack. To his credit as well, he may not be the life of the party but he doesn't appear to be a clubhouse cancer. As someone else mentioned, while I'm sure these guys all appreciate the fan support my guess is there are a bunch of places they would have rather been. They all bucked up and got out there which was a nice moment for the fans and the city...bravo. There's plenty of guys that can cover for Zack, but no one will be able to in game 2 or 3...let the guy worry about that.
  7. You guys all got me thinking ahead to birthdays...my daughter has one during the WS...I am really hoping for a conflict! She knows me well enough and would understand...it's the Brewers. Just got a babysitter for tomorrow...we'll be taking in the triple header at a local sports bar (my wife has a college game too). We haven't done that in years so this is quite the outing for the SoCals.
  8. I'm not so sure the playoffs are such a windfall. The players do get their cut of the revenues and I believe much of the revenues are split among the teams. The Brewers are probably a breakeven operation after financing costs. Mark A and the ownership group deserve a ton of credit for plowing most the revenue gains back into the team and the fans deserve a ton of credit for attending, spending and in the case of the stadium subsidizing....this doesn't happen without all sides pulling their weight. The ownership group has probably made a fair amount of money on paper through appreciation of the value of the team and through debt paydown which has enhanced their equity...and they deserve it. They put their capital at risk when they could have bought something else and so far it has worked out. If the owners were just in it for pure cash flow for themselves, they would be better off following the Marlins or Dodgers models...take the rev share or the TV money and pocket it. They haven't done that.
  9. Is anyone else having trouble with the audio on wtmj.com?
  10. Anyone know a place on the web to watch this?
  11. Thinking about hopping the Southwest shuttle bus and catching a game...can't do Tuesday, but could on Wednesday.
  12. It's so close statistically between Braun & Kemp, why wouldn't the tie go to the player who has been in the thick of it? With all due respect to Kemp, my vote is Braun.
  13. FYI - Us out of towners need to bombard the DirecTV & FoxSports Wisconsin switchboard...right now it's not being shown nationally.
  14. The Rays are such a fun team and a great organization...what a shame to waste it on such a pathetic fanbase.
  15. Wow!!! Rays walk off into the playoffs...take that big markets!!!
  16. Wow...the O's stick it to all those obnoxious Sox fans in Baltimore...nice
  17. Champagne in the Classies clubhouse...I'm going to be sick.
  18. Freddi Gonzalez just became the new Gene Mauch...wow, what an epic collapse by the Braves. Injuries asides, just awful.
  19. I've never liked you Linebrink...still doing things to hurt the Brewers.
  20. Awesome, just awesome...3 million high fives to all of you...and a standing O to you Mr. Fielder. Well done sir.
  21. With 5 runs in the first, I wonder if the Cards could have held Carpenter back until tomorrow. He was probably all warmed up, but that would have been funny if they could swing that. L'Shana Tova to you too series...and especially to Braunie!
  22. So Reyes gets a bunt single to go 1-1 then comes out of the game so he can beat Braun for the batting average...somewhere out there Ted Williams’ cryogenically sealed corpse is shaking his head.
  23. Kemp and Kershaw and pray for a good bankruptcy judge... Just go away Dodgers.
  24. I am embarrassed to be living in LA right now...I can't believe that just happened.
  25. I think you guys need to take a deep breath on RRR tonight. If he thinks Braun could use a blow to be ready for the playoffs considering his injuries this year the he should rest him. Yeah, Kotsay wouldn't be my pick for 3rd, but Kotsay has been solid since he subbed for Braun when he was hurt. Weeks is still injured, they are going to be careful with him. With de la Cruz, he got out of a jam in the fifth and only gave up one run. As for McGehee, it was down to him and George. They were both going to hit...I'm not sure there is a huge difference outside of George being a lefty. I have plenty of issues with RR...bunting in the first, etc...but this one was on a crap start by Marcum, a bleed by the pen including Saito and missing a few key hits...6 more inches by Lucroy and they win it. Go get em tomorrow.
