  1. No, Hawkins was being warned for delivering a quick pitch, he never came set before he threw. The umpire just warned him, no ball was called. Rock does not know that is a quick pitch is illegal, but I think the umpire did the right thing. The radio guys had a different story. Uke must be distracted...can't say I blame him.
  2. Hoffman warming up. Tough to bench a Hall of Famer, but I sure would feel better with a few Badger Mutual Insurance runs.
  3. Went to his mouth on the mound without the umps saying it was ok today.
  4. So it's a little early to discuss...but do they bring out Hoffman in a save situation?
  5. How sweet was it to hear the old "Get up and get outta here" call today...had a little extra meaning. Get Well Soon Uke!!!
  6. At this point I can't see how they can send him out there to close games until he gets this figured out. I'd rather see him get a couple garbage innings where he locates and can use the change. Until then, they need to give someone else a shot...probably Hawkins or Coffey. I'm not convinced he's done. His velocity seems ok, but 86 down the middle against hitters sitting on the fastball won't get anyone out. I also wonder if this could speed the end of Soup in Milwaukee. The main reason to keep him around is starter depth in case of injury or ineffectiveness. Given what happened last year that's not unreasonable to keep him around until they are completely comfortable with Narveson or Parra. Now they may need that depth in the pen. Soup blocking Stetter, Braddock or Axford isn't a big deal while the bullpen is cruising, but with the struggles they've had it may force an earlier move. I really thought the bullpen was the biggest strength we had outside of our 3/4 hitters...it certainly hasn't been a strength so far in April.
  7. Zaun may pass Kendall's OPS by the end of the month!!! Can we finally end this silly debate? Kendall never hit a ball that hard as a Brewer.
  8. No offense, but most Cubs fans I know are hoping that one day in the future, Mr. Craptastic President of Baseball will wise up and return the Brewers BACK to the AL, where long-time rivalries with the Sox, Royals, Tigers and Indians and Twins would be re-started. Why would Cubs fans care? They seem to like coming to a stadium that doesn't smell like urine.
  9. We haven't had a close game since the first game of the Nats series. 4-4 over that stretch. I sure hope the Pittsburgh SlumpBusters can live down to their name.
  10. Amen to that SF...I have some very unhealthy feelings towards umpires and people from Chicago right now.
  11. Narveson earned the shot, no doubt. My guess is Parra will get his shot before year end. In the meantime he can fill Stetter's role. I'd hang on to Suppan too. He can fill the mop up role and maybe chew up some innings. He is also better than anything at AAA in case of an injury. Maybe he can get his location back through some time in the pen. DFA'ing him now doesn't make that much sense at this point...he's only taking Stetter's spot. There will be plenty of injury spots to fill at some point. I'd also stick up for Suppan the person. We never really know these people that well personally, but his public face has been solid. He seems like a good person and a solid citizen. He didn't steal anything either. The Brewers management fell all over themselves to sign him. He seems to have tried his best, he's just getting older and less effective. He could still play a role before the year is out.
  12. Brewers v. Cubs Good v. Evil I hope the bats are still sizzling against actual major league pitching.
  13. They actually won that game: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/10113/1052676-63.stm It's never taken me so long to watch a DVR version of a Brewers game.
  14. According to the post-gazzette...worst loss in Pirates history. Considering it's a 124 year old franchise, that's saying something. Take that Dave Kerwin... http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/10112/1052577-63.stm
  15. They should have contracted a couple teams...why they went after the Twins as part of it I'll never know. They could have canned the Expos & a Florida team. Pittsburgh finally did the right thing last year by dumping everyone for prospects, but it will be years before there is any payoff...if there is any. They really blew it by not hiring Jack Z when they had the chance. If they were at least competitive, they'd show up. Not sure why everyone bashes Brian. When you listen to someone 162 times a year I guess you can get tired of them, but I find him to be one of the better ones out there. I like our guys in the booth...one solid straight man that calls a good game and one semi-irrational old school baseball homer (but he's our homer).
  16. It all turned with the at-bat where he busted the dudes phone with the Fielder jersey. Prince should really buy him a new one...keep the good karma going!
  17. How about: Bristol Division: Yankees Red Sox Alternative Bristol Division for Rainy Days: Mets Phillies Manny Pujols Fly-Over Division Everyone Else
  18. If the info from the doctors says the sheaths are likely to be less of a problem going forward than they were in the past, I'd try and cut a 3-4 year deal now. I admit to being a biased Rickie Weeks fan and apologist, but this does seem to be a window when they can get him at a reasonable value. They also do seem to be getting priced out of the Prince derby. While I'm all for the Braun and Yovani deals and would like to see a similar one with Rickie, fans do need to realize at some point one of these will come back to bite the Brewers. 20-25% of the payroll tied up in Soup, Riske and Hall could easily be a couple young guys signed long term a few years from now. There's no free lunch, yet I do think these are the type of risks the Brewers need to take.
