If you would have asked me before the season what the strength of this team might wind up being, I would have said our bullpen. As bipolar as the rest of the team has been, it's really been evident in the pen. This series it was in full display. Wednesday night they go right with Macha's plan...Villy in the 6th, Coffey in the 7th, Hawkins in the 8th before they blow it open and don't need Trevor. Then last night our "worst" pen guys (Vargas was shaky, but "Soup pitched great") keep us in the game before Hawkins explodes. Take out some of these blown saves and collapses and we're .500 or above even with the erratic starting pitching and hitting. Plenty of discussion in the IGT last night, so I'll throw it open. Where do we go from here? Don't panic? These guys should be fine after a rough start? Personnel changes? Make room for Axford, Smith, Stetter or Braddock? Change roles? Use Coffey or Villy in more key situations? Quit signing older relievers? Go back and beg Solomon Torres to come back..."I can wait no longer"? I lean towards not panicking and that things should even out over time. Coffey has been our best reliever for some time now and should probably be in the highest leverage non-save situations. I'm not comfortable enough with our starters yet to release Suppan, but that could change and they could really use a LOOGY like Stetter. Maybe Vargas is the sacrificial lamb. At some point someone will get hurt...maybe Hawkins already is. I'm at a bit of a loss. Thoughts?

That should have read "Pressure is on me, hawing." http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/embarassed.gif I'm a little out of it this week...I'm used to going to bed early with games over by 8, not running out to the ballpark in the middle of the week! That sure was a gut punch. Just like the Bucks blowing one late to the Lakers early in the season on a last second by Kobe, another cocky LA guy finishes us off. I'm hearing all about it in the office today...but if the Bucks can rebound and make it to the playoffs, why can't the Brewers?!? (Aside from the fact 90% of the league doesn't go in baseball) I'll plan on making it up to you...I've already got my tickets for Anaheim!!! -
Good lord. Another notch in the belt for the "strong point" of the team. Brutal.

Paul has been killing us all night. Kemp was getting more gruff from the fans than Prince the last couple nights. Everyone was on him for dating Rihanna.

Pressure is on hawing! Only thing making not being at the game tonight somewhat bearable...Vin Scully. The guy still has it. Bush is scaring me tonight...he doesn't seem sharp, but I'm not worried. That stadium is only big enough for one Ely and my money is on Louis.

I feel guilty not going to tonight's game after seeing them score 11 runs and win two straight. Sure didn't expect that with our 4/5 starters up against their 1/2. We are really catching the Dodgers at a good time...this just isn't the same team after a crummy off season and then the injuries. Hopefully they finish them off tonight. I had a meeting across the street today and stopped at Starbucks before hand...I wound up in line right behind Doug Melvin. And that's gotta be a good sign for the Crew tonight. Big LA UW Badgers contingent on hand tonight as well (I hope they don't run out of beer)...maybe that will spur them on to victory. They should have about 150 people out by the Brewers bullpen. I think LouisEly mentioned he'll be out there. I want to see him on the tube tonight despite not having the tix in section la-dee-dah! Go get 'em Louis!

Hey LouisEly...sweet seats. I saw you down there at the game...tough not to notice a big guy wearing a tie-dyed Seth McClung shirt right behind home plate! It was funny at the game that all the upper decks were 90% full since it was fleece night and the Dugout Club was over half empty because of the Lakers game. Those were the biggest cheers of the night when they showed the Lakers score. Fewer Brewers fans at the game than the last couple years since the series is so early in the season, but there will still some. Plenty of Brewers brass and their families around before the game on the field with Mark A and a bunch of his partners. The Dodgers may be the only team in the NL struggling more than the Brewers right now...we're catching them at a good time. Kershaw was off from the start. The highlight was the Prince homer. He was hearing it from the fans in our section, but that bomb really quieted them down. Braun always seems to have a good game when I bring my daughter...they've also won 3 in a row when I've brought her. Cinco de Mayo tonight...viva los Cerveceros!!!

First Brewers game of the year for me! I'll be at the game tonight with my daughter and tomorrow with some friends. Two teams playing like crud...something has to give and I hope we bust out of it tonight. Ryan Braun always does something special for my daughter and she'll be wearing her Braun shirt...I'm thinking he goes yard tonight. SeriesFinale has it right...the reception for Prince should be interesting after last year's clubhouse charge. There is supposed to be a good crowd on hand tonight despite it being a Tuesday night vs. the Brewers. It's fleece night. Tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo...think of it as LA's version of St. Patty's Day...should be a fairly boisterous crowd as well. The LA Badger Alumni Club is going to the game on Thursday night. They usually bring a decent crowd that sits out by the Brewers bullpen. They are meeting at The Short Stop Bar on Sunset if anyone is around. I'm sure there will be plenty of PBRs for anyone who's a little thirsty! Unfortunately I can't make it that night, but it's usually a fun crowd.

Not that he's slumping, but I'm calling for a Braun bomb tonight. The last two times I've taken my daughter to a game he's hit one...it's gotten to the point where she expects it. Other than that...Prince...who will respond to the loud chorus of boos tonight with a shot 2/3 of the way up the bleachers in right...leading to even more boos. -
Too Early to Be Demoralized?

Davis would be Cy Young if he pitched against a struggling Brewers team in a park that's bigger than the city it's built in. Sharpie should settle in...that last start was unreal how much damage was done without a hard hit ball. These guys need to all go out to Ryan Braun's pad in Malibu for a big blowout and clear their heads! Anything to change the awful mojo they've got going now. This season reminds me of JJ Hardy's year last year...he was hitting the ball hard and not seeing results, then he started pressing and looked like crud...just like the Crew looks right now. I just hope they can get it going, because Hardy never did. -
Slappy just kills us. Somebody hit something...anything. We just aren't this bad.

Watching Corey Hart swing at ball four and five gets old...(sigh)

Neither looked anywhere near as bad as the box score will show. 13 hits, all singles and very few hit hard. Soup had a few hit hard when he first came in, but then he settled. We also ran ourselves out of a couple innings and then went down meekly.
