Unlike when DD was out there, those are some hard hit balls. This may turn the tide on the Suppan era.

They may also be worried about a short bench with Casey gone and Diego hurting...not saying I agree, just trying to predict the excuses in the post-game presser.

The only hard hit ball that whole inning was the error. DD has really had some bad luck so far this year.

How about using a different former Brewer for each series. Start in the 70's and work their way up to recent times. Maybe it works with the 40 year celebration. They could have Gorman, Augie, Yount, Coop and work to Cirillo and Jenkins. Might be fun.

Yeah, you are probably right. I doubt they release him since they don't feel confident in their AAA options for starters, while they probably do with their bullpen options. Since they can't move Parra, Narveson or Suppan down without releasing them, they will likely wait as long as they can. My only quibble was the more the pen struggles, the more likely they give up that rotation insurance spot for one of the relievers. -
If my memory serves me correct, didn't he start out on the DL last year? He didn't get a lot of work in spring training last year yet came in and dominated right off the bat. It's probably why they took the same low work path as last year, but this year he's been a human gas can.

Too Early to Be Demoralized?

For me, demoralized would mean hopeless...I don't see that as the case, but this start has certainly been a bit of a bummer. Reverse a few of those blow saves and we're nipping at the Cards heels. The hard part for fans is expectations are a little higher after the playoff appearance, but the team is only marginally better. There is also a perception of a closing window based on Fielder's contract which adds a sense of urgency to the season. My biggest concern is that translates into lower attendance which would mean a lower payroll...exacerbating the problem. We've had some bad luck so far this year...over 162 games some of that will reverse. Hang in there folks. -

That explains the time it took to get to that ball in RF in the 14th. Normally it could have been a closer play at the plate. I disagree with Invader about Suppan...I think the fact Hoffman is struggling makes it more likely they release him. If Hawkins were to become the temporary closer and Hoffman takes a mop up role until he gets straight, they will need another bullpen arm. Suppan is strictly rotation insurance...and really the 7th starter at this point. If the bullpen continues to struggle that spot could go to Stetter, Braddock, Smith or Axford. -
I could use a Brewers break myself Rev...but the early west coast road trip means I'll be out there rooting them on all next week!!! C'mon you Brewers...bring your "A" game out here...it's not easy trying to raise Brewers fans in LA!!! They are very impressionable and I'm afraid your stinking up the place could make my house a very lonely place to be a Brewers fan!!!

I hate the booing too, but it's likely targeted at Macha for trotting out a guy in a high leverage situation that just doesn't have it right now. If it's a case of needing more work, they need to be frank and have him fill the Suppan role for a couple weeks until he proves he's back on track.

Gotta take him out of that role until he figures this out. No question.
