  1. If we assume Soup was hurt somewhere over the course of his last two starts, his ERA was tolerable for a 4/5 starter before that point. Depsite the frustration over Soup and his contract, we have no viable replacement that is even close to him right now. That's not saying Soup is anything special, it's just our AAA guys are all well below league replacement. Whoever we bring in will be a bid step down.
  2. Thanks for making me crack up tonight Series. I can't even get the pink going on the phone here. Oh well...at least our draft position is improving!!!
  3. So far it looks like Dillanueva is a better option than Villard. Sounds like Soup is DL bound so they could both be starting soon.
  4. 1983 depressed me as much as this. They were looking good until around this time then fell off a cliff and never recovered. I sure hope the next few years are better than 1984-86. Pat Listach...another sgn of Brewers disappointment...make it stop.
  5. How long before we all start missing Suppan? At least the Cubs are losing...the only joy left for this season to provide.
  6. Brewers = The Deltas Nationals = The Omegas It's not over until we say it's over. Adam Dunn? Dead! Willngham? Dead! Banester? Dead!
  7. Desperate times call for desperate measures. If I had any talent I'd throw in a Cubs bashing haiku praising 3TO and Brooks Kieschnick.
  8. Dear Brewers This is your Game 100 wake-up call. Please give us something to do besides rooting against the Cubs for the next two months. It's big boy time. SoCal
  9. From Yahoo Sports...The Boston Red Sox have offered at least three players - no-hit pitcher Clay Buchholz(notes), Triple-A pitching prospect Michael Bowden(notes) and top outfield prospect Ryan Westmoreland - to the Toronto Blue Jays for ace Roy Halladay(notes), according to a source with knowledge of the negotiations. Because the Blue Jays, who are vigorously shopping Marco Scutaro(notes), are also looking for a shortstop, the Red Sox may be trying to draw a third team into negotiations to satisfy Toronto's need. If I'm JP, I'd hit that bid.
  10. Both pitchers came into tough situations. I would have rather seen them get clean innings to start after it got back to 6-5. Heck, I'd even consider throwing Hoffman out there for an inning. At least he's well rested and no sense waiting around for save situations that aren't happening. I don't blame Macha for all the problems the Brewers have, it is well beyond one man's issues, I just didn't like the decision last night, simple as that.
  11. Could not agree with you more Ennder. Throw in his buddy at 3B that cost us two runs and two outs with runners in scoring position and they're out of it. I can see wanting to milk Soup as long as possible since CV is starting today with Dillard behind him, so there weren't great options for a long man, but Suppan when he is off is pretty awful. I wouldn't even mind having him bunt there since he's a good bunter to save a bench guy and still yank him after that, but sending him out there was practically waving the white flag. I also agree that this team and this starting staff just shouldn't be this bad. If we just had a staff to keep us in the game...Yo, maybe a decent 2 and some guys that could deliver reasonable quality starts with mid 4 ERAs, this team would be in it. Between Bush's injury, Manny's meltdown and Soup's general suckiness it's just not happening.
  12. The likely have insurance on Riske. Not so lucky on Hall or Suppan.
  13. Pink font, haikus, an entire IGT bashing the Cubs...it's time for a bf.netters only meeting. Something has to give. Let's get on the brewdude wagon and go down swinging!!! They can't possibly stink this bad. Wake up Crew!!! Cue the Belushi from Animal House...
  14. Good lord Gerut...2 days in a row grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory. We have the worst 3B coach in the league. Sveum needs to be back out there next year.
  15. I thought we'd see a slumpbuster this week...I just didn't realize it was us. Maybe the Nats will ride this to an NL East title. Below .500 here we are.
  16. At least in 1983 I got my driver's license so that distracted me. I really need to do some soul searching to find meaning in my life because dealing with Soup every 5 days ain't cuttin' it.
  17. Just keep the guys off base for Dunn's homers. A few solo shots is one thing, but Nyjer is a pain in the butt and Zimmerman is still solid. I'd be fine just walking Dunn in tough situations...there really isn't much behind him (famous last words).
  18. So if it's Hardy + 2 class A or below prospects for Washburn/Morrow...how does everyone feel? I have heard that JJ was "Jack's guy" and Escobar was not...so maybe that leans towards JJ. They also have enough dough to resign him, unlike us.
  19. With McClung out he was probably the designated long man behind Dillard. Not sure it matters which one starts, they probably are good for 3-5 innings each and cross your fingers.
  20. He was hardly out of the indy leagues, but I actually thought the trade was fine at the time and certainly wasn't worried about Thatcher either...it was more about Inman. My point was more that Linebrink didn't pan out so from the Brewers perspective it was a bad trade. Thatcher was also a component of the Padres semi-successful playoff (or almost playoff) run that year. In 2007, whether it was luck or even predictable, Thatcher was flat out better than Linebrink. True Weirdos he was viewed as more LOOGYish and Linebrink was supposed to be a guy that could pitch a full inning to get to Coco. However in 2007, Thatcher pitched 21 innings in 22 appearences. Linebrink was 25.1 innings in 27 appearances. Not a major difference.
