  1. I would say medicine and tech is the major reason why life expectancy has continued to go up. But I also think with all that we've discovered, we are starting to see people realize that maybe it's better to change their diet (not organic, but less processed) instead of taking a pill to help mask a problem. I think this is the newest trend, but will take time before people see results. I also think this is still in the minority when it comes to most American's way of thinking.
  2. 1992casey- that's pretty much how I feel about food. The more something is pre made, the less nutritional value it will have, and honestly, the less taste it will have. Taking the time to make the same dish from scratch will taste much better and be better for you. The less you have to do to the food, the better it will be too. Patrick, how is going to a neighborhood farmer's market more of a trouble then going to the grocery store? Just curious. The produce (if truly local - I think you have to watch out for some people who buy things and then sell them at the farmer's market, like tomatoes in may) is so much better to the taste! Even if it's not organic, it was grown nearby and probably picked that day or the day before. That leads me to another point on farmer's markets that I think is important. You are buying from a local farmer and helping them out. You aren't buying something from South America that needed to be shipped all the way up here. There are a lot of things that aren't great about that. I enjoy supporting local farmers, talking with them, hearing what they say is good that week, and giving it a try. They remember you and treat you well. Most of all, again, it just tastes so much better! Ok, off my high horse.
  3. All the navy blue ones are my least favorite I would say. I hate that green logo as well, but now it's kind of funny, so I wouldn't mind having that t-shirt. Really like the rest of them quite a bit!
  4. Pete - well said! That's one huge reason my wife and I are on the organic train. I think it actually tastes like what it is supposed to be. It's kind of amazing. I agree on the garden as well. A tomato tastes like a tomato when it comes from your garden or the farmers market. That is actually my theory on why so many people hate tomatoes, because they've only had terrible grocery and restaurant ones that were grown indoors and then refrigerated. Gross!
  5. I'm doing my best to show optimism early on here. Some good words by you guys does help! I try to take off a few months from baseball after the season and I wait until after the first of the year to jump back in. I then go all in after the NFL is done. I'm looking forward to what this new season brings. I'm hoping for solid steady play and a chance in the end. I think we could make that run, of course, there are a lot of "ifs." But there is for all teams.
  6. Agreed. I've just been playing $1 and $2 games here and there. Mainly football but I just started it this football season so may try baseball a bit here and there. Definitely not every day! As for football, I was wondering if anyone had opinions on which positions to spend the most money on. I can't say I have figure any of that out yet.
  7. Anyone get in to these at all? I started a bit this year with football and enjoy it. I was wondering what types of strategies people use for the different sports and contests they play.
  8. I won both my big fantasy league and a nice payout for winning my nfl/college pick'em league this year!!! Will keep me in the black for several years of fantasy/pools.
  9. I think it's a positive. The only negative would be that the flipper does a cheap job and the next person loses value when they sell. That said, it has to still be better than what is there now. Should hopefully bring up property values in the neighborhood if they get a good price for it.
  10. Ha!! Seriously love the relish tray comments and previous thread! Tremendous. Happy holidays!!!
  11. I started Manziel in the semis of my fantasy league, thinking he had a higher floor, and that floor ended up being 0. Should have gone with the old trusty Joe Flacco. Could cost me a good chunk of money, depending on what happens tonight.
  12. That's exactly how I feel. They have the position players coming up and they have a lot more room to make big moves when/if that group is ready to make some runs at a world series.
  13. I remember when the Twin Cities asked people to use the zipper. I remember the local sports guy talking about it and agreeing with it. There was heated debate on it for several days. It was pretty funny. I agree with the move and sometimes you just have to not worry about what others might think as you drive by.
  14. This is what popped in to my head. I wonder if Barry is getting in to people's business a bit. I think Bielema had enough of a relationship with Barry, and enough balls, to tell him to back off. I didn't love Anderson, but didn't dislike him. I was completely shocked by this. I understood why Bielema left, he went to the SEC. I don't quite get this one yet. Maybe he is just a West Coast guy.... or maybe he did indeed see there were issues coming up for this team. Whoever comes in now, really needs to be a long term guy, otherwise this program will have some issues.
  15. Yeah, I mean they just threw it in a box with all my other office stuff and didn't really even wrap it up. It seemed pretty careless. Overall they did a good job but got lazy on a few items. Nothing that can't be replaced.
  16. Thing blue vertical line on my computer monitor I have a dell flat screen monitor that I've had for awhile. We moved across country and when I hooked everything up in our new place, I now have a thin blue vertical line that never goes away. I was not happy how the screen was packed and thrown in a box. Would this have something to do with it or is it just something that happens? I have to figure out if I'm adding this to the claim form for the moving company or not. I just have no clue if this is due to damage or something else.
  17. Right now I'm worried about this team and a little bit about the plan for the future. It's time to deal guys, if possible and get some youth in here. Any of the older pitchers that can get anything back, should go. The problem is, I don't really know if there is a market for what we have.
  18. That's the one! Thank you kind sir! I tried searching for that about 4 times, which is way too much time. I appreciate the help! BF.net cures all! It is pretty cool to take a look at for those who have not seen it.
  19. I saw an article on this in the last 12 months and for the life of me I can't find it. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I think it was an all time list of starting 5 for each state that the player was from. Maybe it was current players, but I believe it was all time. I've tried searching for it and all I can find is a top ten list.
  20. Man! I was hoping to wait until after the holidays to start getting back in to following Brewer news. I try to take some time off, but this got me really excited! May have to break my rule. TBD...
  21. High risk high reward. If you think you will always regret not going, then go. If you think it will be out of your mind in a few months, then stay.
  22. Yes, party over here!! Ha. So finally had some time to mess around with the picture and I think I have something to work with. I still think it needs some tweaking. Having a hard time finding many people giving their best settings online. The TV is truly giving me more appreciation for movies I've seen several times. Looking forward to some 4k content on Amazon! Well that and the Brewers of course!
  23. Don't know much about the E Cigs. What are the benefits and issues with using them?
  24. There are certainly other reasons people hate Walmart, but what I think is funny is that the people that complain about Walmart putting the mom and pops out of business would never pay the prices that mom and pops charge anyway. There was a time when I wanted to be an altruistic consumer and tried to buy things from local stores until I realized how much money I could save by going elsewhere. And especially now with internet retailers, small local stores don't stand a chance. I do believe in trying to shop at local places if there is service added to what they are selling. That can be worth a lot in my book! Especially when it comes to stuff I know nothing about. Where I used to live, there was a local hardware store that I would always try to go to. The type of place people went and hung out at. Their dogs would greet you at the door and the employees would help you with any project you might have. That's the type of place I would be loyal to. But just to go to a place because it's local, and you have to pay more, doesn't make sense. I do feel bad for the good places that have a hard time keeping up. One place I do my best to support is local restaurants. I'd rather pay a little more for quality food and service than save a few bucks for garbage. This however is harder in Suburbia!
  25. GOOD LUCK!!
