  1. He did his in spring training, he was the inspiration for the others.
  2. Nobody watches a HR more than Soriano so the fact that the Cub fans are on Braun so much about it is just funny.
  3. I'm reading NSB and there is a guy saying how much this sucks, then he says he isn't worried about the Brewers since they'll finish under .500 but we have other teams to worry about. Now i really hope the Cubs completely tank and end up in 3rd or 4th place this year.~
  4. Counsell and Braun back to back. We'll be hearing that a lot this year?
  5. I'm confused as to CV here too. DiFelice and Coffey are both fully rested and CV pitched yesterday. This is the first game that has confused me a lot by bullpen usage for Macha. Not that it is mind boggling bad, just not what I would have expected.
  6. This is a game that is going to frustrate me if we lose. Day off on Monday and big divisional foe, no need to let McClung bat when he did and no good reason to give him a long leash this inning.
  7. I was reading a cubs blog today and they mentioned that it was sad because at most 25% of the fans at the park tonight were Brewer fans 4 years ago. My initial thought was that on any given night less than 50% of Cubs fans at a game are even paying attention to the game. They have one of the weakest fanbases in baseball from an actual fan knowledge standpoint.
  8. I'd be pissed if a scrub like Hall watched his HR against me too. If a good player does it I doubt it would bother me quite as much.
  9. So running a giant flag up over your stadium that says W when you beat a team is fine but untucking your shirt is disrespectful? People are strange.
  10. That is the nice thing about Stetter over Shouse, he can actually get righties out too.
  11. That is a marginal one. The downright stupid one would be to let Suppan hit and then just take him out without facing a hitter. I agree that I wasn't happy with that one though. If you sit down and think to yourself, what is the absolute worst move a manager could make in a situation at least one time a month Yost did exactly that. A move so bad it was like he was trying to lose. With that move if Suppan doesn't give up a triple to the next batter he probably faces at least one more and he easily could have gone the rest of the inning if it was a clean one.
  12. If we had a real bench I could see playing them more often. He works Counsell into the lineup a bit and that is our one real bench guy.
  13. I had no idea where to try to find this info so I sent an email to baseballprospectus about it to see if they were interested in figuring it out~.
  14. Could mean that he was using HGH and he needed the HcG to fix the issues caused by it. That is the reason they added that to the banned list recently.
  15. Hardy went 0 for 28 at one point last year while playing full time, should we have sent him to AAA? If your answer is no then you shouldn't be judging Nelson off of 19 AB either. If you thought Nelson being on the team in the first place was a weakness than this validates your point somewhat, otherwise you can't really read anything into it.
  16. Arizona has underproduced their talent level for a while now so not too big of a surprise.
  17. You mean Reds? Cuz, I mean... what'd Coop do to you?Oops yea, though I'm not much of a Coop fan as a manager either, heh.
  18. If you had asked me if 6-12 or 16-12 were more likely when you made this post I'd have voted 6-12 too, no worries.
  19. HcG was not a banned until a year ago. They claim the doctor checked the list but apparently it was a year old list that did not include it. The only real reason for him to be taking it is because of damage caused by steroid use in the past though so not much he can do about it.
  20. Obviously there was a typo in this post and you meant to say 16-12. So far it is a push! Heh http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif.
  21. I think Ned got the criticism he deserved. That is what happens when you are a below average manager. It isn't the marginal moves that put it over the line it was the downright stupid ones he seemed to make at least once a month. Moves that were so bad they were likely the absolute worst thing he could have done. Things like batting Nix third when he played for Braun to 'keep the order set'. Things like leaving Shouse in vs a RH pitcher with the bases loaded. Things like PH Mench against a RH closer while Jenkins sits on the bench. It is the same way I feel about Dusty Baker and why I'm glad I'm not an Astros fan.
  22. Multiple sources have said it wasn't anabolic steroids so I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/unfiltered/?p=1256 "Ramirez's statement issued through the MLBPA indicates that Ramirez will not appeal his suspension and that he received the banned substance from a doctor. Ramirez was suspended under section 8.G.2 of the Joint Drug Agreement, which is "other." In his statement, there's no clear statement that Ramirez ever tested positive. Combined, those two facts point to a non-testable drug, but this is not confirmed. The only other known 8.G.2 suspension was Jordan Schaefer. "
  23. I didn't really like the move by Macha but I could care less if Yost did it. Yost would have already lost us a game or two with his idiotic bullpen usage most likely so I'd be yelling at him about that.
  24. If you can't understand the difference it is a hopeless discussion. Pitchers should have to field, they are on the field for every ball in play. Hitting is something they do about 10% as often as a normal player and it is a skill they cannot hope to keep sharp. The difference is night and day.
  25. Carlos Lee fielding is a minor mismatch and is no big deal so I just don't buy that excuse. Lee also gets just as many chances to field a ball as any LF does so it isn't the same thing at all. Kickers in the NFL don't have to play offense, the goalie in hockey isn't expected to play the wing, pitchers in baseball shouldn't be hitting. They just do not get enough reps to stay effective as hitters and it increases their odds of getting hurt. This is one of those things that stays around because of the history of the game. Catchers still get 400+ PA as a starter in baseball, pitchers get like 75 a year, the comparison isn't really valid at all. If pitchers actually hit 400 times a year and just stunk at it I'd say you are correct, the fact that they don't get enough AB to effectively keep their hitting skills is the entire point.
