  1. Most young pitchers with 684 professional innings are in their first or second major league season unless they are complete stud prospects who tend to mostly skip the minors. Danks, Volquez etc. Parra is a young pitcher still, he is following a pretty standard career path of a 24/25 year old pitcher, he just is a little older because of injuries.
  2. I find that Attanasio comment very odd. The Brewers are obviously doing a better job of cashing in on their fan base but still got outbid by the Yankees purely because of the size of the market, that should support what Attanasio said, not be a knock against him.
  3. I'd rank them... 1) Mauer 2) Braun Big Gap 3) Morneau 4) Fielder
  4. He pitches like Jason Kendall catches. Kendall does this with all of the pitchers, just Bush and Gallardo can hit those corners. That is Kendall's game plan, get ahead and sit on the corners until 3-2.
  5. Yep, Parra is our 3rd best pitcher and that is while not pitching as well as he is capable of. I'm sure people will come and say he is mentally weak and blah blah blah but nothing in the stats really supports the opinion. He has been better with RISP than without and then people will complain about him nibbling too much but that is really Kendall's fault since he doesn't go after hitters with 0-2 or 1-2 counts for any of the pitchers, everything he calls is on a corner, just Parra can't seem to hit those corners. This is the same thing as Bush a couple years ago not being able to go deep in games because he gave up a big inning late in a game a few times, people get an idea in their head and they stick to it regardless of whether or not it is true. Having said all that he obviously needs to cut down on the walks to see his potential realized.
  6. When we compare injures with the Cubs and Cardinals let's just remember that when BPro put out their team health reports the Brewers had the best overall grade of any team in baseball and the Cubs and to a lesser extent the Cardinals had tons of reds. In fact the Cubs were very close to the worst overall report. It should be expected that we stay healthier than other teams and between Hoffman, Weeks and Hardy's injuries we probably have had worse luck overall than either of those teams.
  7. Is it an assault that suggest you should have 5 guys kick someone in the head until they are hospitalized in the critical unit to the point where he would have probably died without medical aid? Because that is what happened? That specific example wasn't supposed to be making my point for me but you have to be obtuse to believe that Cubs fans don't start just as many of the fights as Brewers fans.
  8. You have formed an opinion and you are looking for situations where it is true. Parra has a better OPS against with RISP than without. In fact his career OPS against with RISP is .674 or better than every other starter on the team except Gallardo. This game should have been 4 IP, 4 ER, the defense are to blame for 5 of the runs. Yeah 4 IP, 4 ER is not good by any means but it isn't like he was a train wreck out there either.
  9. Give me a break, I sure hope this was just a frustration based complaint and not serious. Yeah they hit some balls hard but a few grounders found holes and our defense gave away outs, trying to pin that all on Parra is silly.
  10. Hitting wise it is pretty close but positions and defense put this pretty clearly in the Twins favor.
  11. Well it certainly would have been nice if they had included the fact that Cubs fans start fights at Miller park too. I know on opening day at least one Brewer fan got the crap kicked out of him by a van full of Cubs fans after he threw a beer bottle at their car. The story itself kind of makes it look like it is just Brewer fans out of control when it is the fanbase for both teams causing problems.
  12. I don't know about that, quite a few of his pitches missed the strike zone by feet, not inches. Even the pitches he threw for strikes didn't seem to be hitting the spots they were supposed to.
  13. I don't think we'll see a straight platoon either but let's be real here, Gerut has been better vs RHP than Corey Hart has so far in their careers so it isn't some outlandish idea, Gerut is probably a better fielder as well. I think you have to give Hart a chance to keep developing so it isn't realistic unless he starts to really struggle.
  14. Yeah I gotta say this story really wasn't about the Brewers it just happened to be at miller park. You see the same thing at summerfest and I saw the same thing at the games I went to when I lived in North Carolina. It is worse on opening day and against big rivals for sure.
  15. But will they be worse than .174/.242/.316/.557 which is what Hall hit vs RHP last year? Or maybe worse than .195/.295/.338/.633 which is what he is hitting so far this year. I don't want Counsell out there every day against RHP just because I think he'll wear down, but I'd rather have him in the lineup than Hall against righties. To be honest I'd rather have McGehee out there vs RHP too unless he proves he can't hit at the major league level.
  16. Yeah I love MLB network so far, I can't wait until we reach the playoff stretch and I get to see all the big AB in those games.
  17. The funny part of this is that Duffy is basically Gwynn with more pop. This is such a big upgrade over Gwynn that it is highway robbery.
  18. I sure hope this leads to a Julio DFA and a Catallanotto callup.
  19. I don't blame Macha at all, he has to see what he has on the roster. He gave Hall a promise that he'd let him play full time through this series to win his job and Hall obviously completely failed. He double switched him out of the game in the middle of the game which to me says Hall's fulltime job is done. As long as Macha sticks to his guns and keeps Hall out vs RHP I'm fine with how he handled the situation. If Hall finds his way into the lineup on a regular basis vs RHP from here on out I have a big problem with it.
  20. Gerut is a better defensive OF than Hart and he has better career numbers vs RHP than Cameron or Hart. This is going to be a meaningful upgrade to the team, especially if Macha starts to give Cameron and Hart more days off as we get deeper into the season. If Hart hits a total funk again we even have a legit platoon now.
  21. Gerut's career line vs RHP is .284/.344/.472/.816 and he can play CF. I don't see what is not to like about this. He would be an upgrade over Kapler or Gross and most wanted one of those two back this year.
  22. Nelson's value is more like a penny and I throw those away all the time. Guys like Nelson are a dime a dozen, you can pick them up for league minimum every offseason.
  23. Hall batting 2nd vs lefties is probably fine. Obviously if he is going to bat vs RHP he should bat 7th or 8th.
  24. Having said what I did I'm still fine with him letting Hall hit last night now that I know the reason. He is giving Hall his chance to prove he deserves to face righties and Hall is showing him he does not because even if he lucks into a few hits it is painfully obvious his overall approach is horrible vs them.
  25. 2006 was a fluke, BIll Hall is not a starting quality major league baseball player. He should spot start vs RHP and start every day vs LHP but he is a replacement level player against RHP.
