  1. This game just makes me more sad. It is pretty clear the Dodgers pitching is not all that amazing, the Brewers just were hot garbage hitting that series.
  2. You are simply wrong. A runner on 2nd with no outs vs a runner on 3rd with 1 out is a 4% increase in a chance to score a single run. The odds with a runner on 1st vs runner on 2nd are similar. So you have to be successful with the bunt over 90% of the time for it to be a valid strategy. It is extremely rare for this to be the case. Bunting in the current game of baseball is a huge mistake unless you have a pitcher up or an elite bunter up.
  3. I think CC panicked and put Hadar in waaayyyy to soon. Chacin didn't have it but we had other options out there in the 3rd. I would have put Woodruff or Davies or anyone else in there instead and saved Hader for later on. I think this opinion has no merit in fact. Hader pitching innings 7-9 makes no difference compared to 3-5. IN fact he actually got a key LH out of the lineup which only helped the team in the long run. Hader's usage had 0 impact on this game and to think otherwise really makes no sense at all.
  4. Good job Brewers. If any players happen to come and look at this thread you should be proud of yourselves. You won the most games in the NL, you had the best run differential in the NL in the playoffs, going into game 7 you outplayed the Dodgers in the series, had more runs than they did, had better expected stats than they did. You just couldn't quite get the big hit in a couple of key situations. If you ask me who the best team in the NL was this year I probably side Brewers with the Dodgers a close 2nd and no other team really in the running. Fantastic job overall.
  5. There is almost no situation in baseball where a major league hitter bunting helps your chances to score a run unless you have a really fast runner and an elite bunter. This has nothing to do with why we lost.
  6. I don't really get using him there. Maybe there is some data that he is the best of the PH options against high velocity or something.
  7. This version of the Dodgers lineup is terrible against lefties. Bring in Hader and hope they decide to PH at some point and then when the righties start coming in the lineup is easier. It is somewhat risky but I totally get it.
  8. And that's totally fine with me given everyone else's availability. Sorta separate note - how much fun will spring training be next year knowing some of these guys are fighting for rotation spots? Yeah the rotation will be weird next season. Some guys who should start probably won't for depth reasons.
  9. I don't think I've ever seen a series where the teams were so closely matched. I would say the way this has gone down gives us an ever so slight advantage tomorrow.
  10. I have supported Counsell for a couple of years now but if he wastes Hader for an inning here I will be livid. Use anyone else to start the inning and use Hader as the safety net if 2 guys get on.
  11. I haven't noticed her tonight but i really don't get the complaints. She seems completely engaged in the games, she always seems to be scoring them and well yes she shows off some cleavage but so does my wife. It isn't the end of the world and it doesn't mean you are a bad person.
  12. Any time you ask if we should bunt ask yourself if the guy doing it bunts a lot and if the lead runner is well above average in speed. If the answer to either of those questions is no then bunting is wrong. It is really rare in today's game that bunting makes any sort of sense. It has to be the perfect situation. I love you Grandal.
  13. Burnes could easily be warming up in case we score a run here. It is really hard to know what the thought process is at this point.
  14. I am glad Urias was able to pitch in this series, he is such a fun guy to watch and he is so young. Wish we had scored a few more runs off of him though.
  15. With how he has looked in back to back games I would say yes for sure. Give him the 8th and decide on the 9th based on the score. If we can push across 1 more run finish with Soria, if we can't use Hader for 1.
  16. I will also say with how focused he is in this game. if I somehow pissed him off in a bar I would be going home early to avoid dealing with him, he looks completely turned up here.
  17. So I know we all love to pile on Counsell for every move we don't agree with. I want to give him some credit here for using Jeffress in the 7th inning of a key game and having him buy into the appearance like it is no big deal. A lot of "closers" would be rebelling against this.
