  1. Really depends on what they do with the money I guess. If they say sign Abreu and use Cabrera as a 4th OF I like the deal or if they sign Sheets with it or even Lowe I don't mind it. There are two types of Yankee prospects, guys who get overrated because they are a yankee so they must be good and those that get underrated because they aren't an instant success and yankee fans have no patience. I think Melky is the second type, he is an above average fielder and around a league average hitter (for CF) most likely.

  19. This baffles me, a salary cap system like the NFL or NBA has just means players are less likely to stay with their teams. Baseball actually has done a good job of keeping players in their drafted organization compared to other sports where it is just stupid to keep your best players.
  20. Putz straight up for Heilman is not a clear win over the last 4 years statistically, add in the other players and this is one of those moves which looks great during the off season but might not be a big deal in season.
  21. I am only upset by this deal if the Yanks sign Sheets or Teixiera and then it is only because it screws our draft pick compensation up.
  22. Gallardo, Parra, Bush, Suppan is absolutely fine as a 2, 3, 4, 5. We need a #2 quality type starter and maybe a depth type guy that can slot in for injuries though that could be McClung or Capuano if healthy. For the lineup all we really need is a left handed 4th OF and maybe some IF insurance that can play 2B and 3B(though I wouldn't turn down a full time 3B and Hall becoming the IF insurance guy). Then we need one solid bullpen arm. All this talk about needing to rebuild the entire team is just going overboard.
  23. I'm sad for the 2009-2010 Brewers, I'm happy for the 2011-2014 Brewers. I just don't see him staying good long with those inning counts. He will be the next Livan/Zambrano/Schmidt.
  24. I highly doubt Melvin is not talking to other players because of Sabathia. If they find a deal they like that makes CC's offer unaffordable they will just drop the offer and sign the player. People read WAY too much into this stuff.
  25. You are reading way too much into picking up Durham, he was a depth move not a replacement
