  1. Pretty sure the Mets and Brewers will both lose and one of them then has to win on Monday.
  2. I respectfully disagree. I actually think Hart has been lucky to hit .165 this month. He's had a lot of bloopers and seeing eye singles. I don't think it has been fluky. And I think we now have a season as a whole to look at and we can see that he has underachieved overall. But you aren't saying he underachieved, you are saying he is overrated which is something very different. If you are going to talk about how good he is or isn't you have to use more than 1 year's data. Last year he had an insane hot streak, this year he had an insanely cold streak. The two probably offset each other and he is that .825-.850 OPS type of player.
  3. Yeah but on Sept 1st he had a line of .288/.322/.500/.822 and nobody was really complaining about him. Yeah that OBP is a tad bit too low but overall he was probably an above average hitter. Whenever a player has a purely miserable month or an amazing good one I assume it is at least partially flukey.
  4. Why does Weeks use such a small bat too, I've always wondered that. Seems like he can't reach anything on the outer half of the plate with it so I can't imagine it really helps him.
  5. You could say he has just really struggled in September too and look at his above average overall stats pre-september. Guess it just depends on whether you want to think positively or negatively about him.
  6. Suppan and McClung could probably both pitch a couple innings. That would be a natural throw day for them. Not sure why a Parra start is a sure loss but whatever. I dont' think they'd start him.
  7. I'll never understand the hatred much of this site has for Sheets but thanks for all the games you made for the team Ben. I don't really want to re-sign him or Sabathia so I hope that was the last game he pitches for us.
  8. Wood pitched the 22nd and the 24th @NYM and got saves in both games. Marmol pitched 22nd against the Mets too. It sucks that we lost but stop trying to blame the other team for it. They rested most of their offense and we still didn't win.
  9. I bet we see Ramirez, Lee and Theroit at the very least since they don't have much of a reason to rest those guys.
  10. Brewers give up 3 runs in the 9th and the Badgers fumble the ball at the goal line to choke away any chance at that game. What a depressing day.
  11. The wet field is completely valid. If I were a Cubs fan I'd be pissed as heck if they put in Marmol or Wood on a wet field like that in a game that is 'meaningless' to the team.
  12. Somehow I think Cott's arm can survive pitching to 1 hitter.
  13. What an odd place to be bunting with a guy with an OPS over .900 on the season.
  14. I can agree with that, he obviously isn't healthy and one more week isn't going to change it. As soon as he hit the 180 IP or so range the odds of him finishing the season were extremely low. As mad as everyone here is at Sheets I'm twice as mad at Yost for the mismanagement of Sheets and Parra that has put us in this mess. So glad that guy is gone.
  15. Remember when we used to be good against lefties.
  16. I don't think Cameron makes a good leadoff hitter but I don't think we have a better option either. Kind of the same reason Weeks has been our leadoff hitter for so long, there just isn't anyone else that fits the role.
  17. On the Mets forum it says 1:45 as well and I'd assume they list it in eastern.
  18. I wouldn't put it above those but Sheets 18 strike out game really sticks out in my mind as one of the best games of the last few years.
  19. I visit 2 sites every single day. www.Brewerfan.net www.Baseballprospectus.com I visit a few sites a couple times a week. www.Disabledlistinformer.com www.thehardballtimes.com/ www.baseballthinkfactory.org/ www.insidethebook.com/ee/ www.mlbtraderumors.com/
  20. The entire reason our rotation is a shambles right now is because of Yosts mismanagement of the starters and leaving them in too long in situations that didn't call for it. I could have told you that Sheets and Parra would struggle after about 175 IP IP this year because neither of them have gone a full season in the last few years. These two should have been babied not pushed hard.
  21. That was me. He closed some in Tampa Bay so he has 'experience'. I don't think he did very well but playing for those Tampa Bay teams was miserable on all pitchers since their defense was so awful and the team always lost. I like McClung and I think he can do ok in a RP role but he walks too many to be a good starter in my opinion. I think bullpen guys can get away with it more.
  22. Other than the hit and run with Weeks/Hart the other night I've been pretty happy with Sveum. He might bunt a little bit too much but the players he has had bunt were in situations where they stink at hitting(Hall vs a righty etc) so I can't complain too much. I'd agree though that the biggest difference is probably the fact he isn't Yost.
  23. That is simply awesome~? Glad that it was only 'good' for about 30 minutes though?as we move to 2. ??
  24. It would be very fitting to have Ben clinch the playoffs for us and even more fitting to see Yost not be the manager for it since he sabotaged Sheets career in a very Dusty Bakerish way.
  25. I think I'd stick with McCLung. This is obviously his last game of the regular season and we might need all the RP we can get in the next 2 days with Sheets and Sabathia both starting in less than ideal conditions.
