    yeah my mlb.com is down, can't listen or watch game. Couldn't find any streaming radio stations that had baseball either. Gameday not even working.

    is lamb hurt?No but he also has a .276 OBP and .320 SLG on the year so I don't have a ton of faith in him. His career OBP is only .333 as well and with bases loaded the OBP is what really matters.

    1-0 Marlins! I would think if any day was the exception to the rule it is today since both games are going on at the same time and both control our playoff chances.

    I find it hard to call an 89 or maybe 90 win team bad. They have some issues but so do most teams in baseball including many of the playoff teams.

    The nature of Sheets injury does not make him nearly as big a risk as a Harden, Prior, Schmidt type of player. I think the anti-sheets crowd really overestimates how worrisome his injury history is. Assuming the arm pain is just normal overused pitcher type pain and nothing serious I'd assume he gets something like a 3-4 year deal for good money. He has had one major injury in his career and it isnt' in an area that is expected to have a lot of repeat injuries. In 2005 he missed one month to the shoulder injury and some time to the ear thing which I find it unlikely anyone is worried about. In 2006 the brought him back early from the injury and he aggravated it, something completely normal for a pitcher coming off an injury. He was healthy the last 2.5 months of the season and put up a 3.15 ERA and .678 OPS against. In 2007 he had minor blister/groin problems that limited him, again not the kind of injuries that really worry teams long term. He went into his last healthy start with a 3.36 ERA and .686 OPS against. In 2008 he was healthy until the last month of the season and who knows how serious that is. He was heavily abused by Yost and still managed a 3.09 ERA and .674 OPS against. Yeah the injuries will limit his contract some but there is no way in heck he is going with a 1 year deal. That is not a serious injury list for a pitcher at all.

    Hanley has been playing with a strained shoulder, probably just acting up on him some. Olsen has a career 4.89 ERA aganst the Mets so he must have been decent against them before 2008.

    I'd have to know why he is pitching poorly. Seems to just be his location is off which led to a few extra HR but if his velocity is down or something I could see going to someone else.

    Sheets had the 8th highest VORP of any pitcher going into today's game, hard to call that a mistake. He earned his money this year. He rated out higher than pitchers like Haren, Peavy, Webb. Only 30 pitchers in baseball will have thrown more innings than him this year or 1 per team. Yeah it sucks he couldn't finish out the season but after the previous few years I didn't expect him to be able to break 200 IP. I don't want to re-sign him but I think whatever team does will probably be happy enough with him. Pitchers are just too risky at that age to sign to huge long term contracts.
