  1. I think Davis is a classic boom or bust type player. He had a strong second half for the Rangers last season when he got regular playing time, and he hit really well after getting sent down earlier this year, but he does strikeout a little much. I seem to remember reading that he was an average to an above average fielder, but irregardless he would be an improvement at first over Fielder.
  2. But Haren was willing to come to Milwaukee on my MLB The Show game...
  3. I forgot about Davis. He could also take Moreland's place in my previously mentioned deal. Or if somehow both could be had, that would be even better. I think Davis' bat will come around and would play very nicely in Miller Park.
  4. I could get on board with something like this: Holland or Perez, Moreland, and Ross for Fielder. In this scenario the Brewers would get one major-league-ready lefty starter and one young prospect lefty starter (with good groundball/strikeout rates), and a solid left-handed bat that could step in for either Fielder or Hart at 1B or RF (not sure how good his defense is though - I know he's a bigger guy). The Brewers might have to throw in a low level prospect or two, but I think something like this could work well for the Brewers.
  5. Are you combining Neftali Feliz and Martin Perez into one player? Anyway, the Rangers wouldn't even consider dealing Feliz.
  6. Texas has a fair amount of young pitching to offer. Holland, Perez, and Scheppers to name a few.
  7. That would be great if we can get a starter that projects higher than Bush's ceiling ever was or will be.
  8. 1e Corbeau, That's way too much rational thought for one post.
  9. That was a nice "lazy" HR last night.
  10. Kind of sounds like a used car salesman to me. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. Yeah, we don't need a young, talented roster that we have control over for several years. I vote for more of the same! Just say no to the youth infusion. We need more crusty old vets!
  12. I'm amazed that you made that determination off of watching him pitch twice... very impressive.
  13. A lot of people on here are WAY undervaluing Hudson also. He's a damn good pitcher. His minor league stats are VERY similar to Gallardo's. And the Brewers' front office saying Hudson is no more than a 3 is just gamesmanship.
  14. Oswalt might make them a contender, but I don't think he alone would put them over the top. Plus the cost would be far too great. Would you deal Gamel and Odorizzi for Oswalt? Because a package like that is probably what they would ask for. Also I doubt he would approve a trade to the Brewers.
  15. Minor League #'s for Comparison Gallardo: 2.59 ERA 1.13 WHIP 6.9 H/9 0.4 HR/9 3.2 BB/9 10.4 K/9 3.20 K/BB (396 IP) Hudson: 2.90 ERA 1.05 WHIP 6.9 H/9 0.7 HR/9 2.5 BB/9 10.6 K/9 4.18 K/BB (310 IP)
  16. Hudson's value is not derived from the White Sox lack of young pitchers. He was the Minor League Starting Pitcher of the Year last year according MLB.com. His minor league numbers are quite similar to Gallardo's. I would definitely say he is better than a number 3 starter at best. 1 or 2 would be his ceiling.
  17. MiLB.com lists Viciedo at 5'11" 240. I didn't realize he was that big, and at 21 he has time to grow into a "Prince-size" montster. Not sure that's a good thing. Also it's too bad he's not a LH hitter. If we trade Prince we're going to need a LH bat badly. I still continue to covet Ka'aihue of Kansas City. He has 20 HR's and a huge OBP at AAA right now. Plus he's got Butler ahead of him in the depth chart, and Hosmer coming up fast behind. So if we do trade Prince, it would be nice if we could somehow acquire the "Kila Monster".
  18. X ellence, This is total B.S! Is every thread on this board going to turn into you railing against Gomez? We get it. You don't like him. I would like to be able to read some of these threads without having to sift through your diatribes about Gomez's "terrible" defense. Now drop it! Please!
  19. I don't consider that a haul at all. Hudson projects as a number 3 pitcher. Is that what we really expect to get out of a Prince trade. One potential number 3 pitcher? This team needs pitching, and by pitching I mean good pitching, high projectability not average albeit cheap MLB ready pitching. If we don't get more than a number 3 pitcher than we might as well just keep him around another year and a half and roll the dice with additional draft picks that we can spend on yes cheap pitching, and focus on average arms, average potential that is close to MLB ready (YUCK!). While, I agree, that wouldn't necessarily be a haul for Prince, you are vastly underrating Hudson. Hudson has ace potential. He was one of the best pitchers in the minor leagues last year. In fact, he was MLB.com's Minor League Starting Pitcher of the Year. If the Brewers were to acquire him, he would immediately become the Brewers best pitching prospect.
  20. I would opt for a trade for someone like Kila Ka'aihue who is blocked by Billy Butler at the big league level. Just don't like the idea of moving Gamel to first a whole lot.
  21. Umm, the Pirates thought that roughly 17 years ago when they released some guy named Tim Wakefield. How many teams thought Jaime Moyer wasn't more than a 5th starter? He's a lefty with good stuff and past success, so he'll get an infinite number of chances And how many more pitchers have fizzled out, never to be heard from again? I would say the odds are greater that Willis is actually "done".
  22. Thundercat, I think the Orioles would be a better match than you give them credit for. I think they would like to be a contender in a very tough AL East, and adding somebody like Fielder would be a boon for them in that ballpark. They already have Matusz, Tillman, and Arrieta, so maybe a deal could be worked out involving Zach Britton. I really think he's going to be a good one, and he would look real nice at the top of the Brewers' rotation with Gallardo. Maybe have them add in a Matt Hobgood and another low level prospect and you could possibly get something done.
  23. Really? They're going to trade their three top pitching prospects in one deal? That would be insanely lopsided in the Brewers' favor.I guess I didn't take him as being serious on that one, but you're right, that would be insane for the Rays to make such a trade.
  24. There is no chance that the Rays will trade Hellickson or Jennings. IMO if we can get 3 of the Rays top ten pitching prospects I would be more than pleased. Names like Moore, Colome, Barnese, Torres, and Mcgee show how much better they are at drafting pitchers then the brewers. 4/5 of the 2012 rotation could come from the combination of Davis/Graza and 2 of the other prospects with some of our own Odorizzi, Heckathorn, Scarpetta, Lasker, Peralta, and Rivas.I would say there is no chance they trade Jennings, but I wouldn't say there is no chance they trade Hellickson. They are going to need Jennings in the near future, but they could live without Hellickson due to their tremendous pitching depth. My guess is that a Fielder for Hellickson deal straight-up wouldn't go down, but if there were peripherals involved on both sides, I think something could possibly be worked out. I'm not saying that it's likely, but I think it could happen. On the other hand, I misstated myself when I said any trade with Fielder would have to net us Hellickson. I could also get on board, if they are sending us 3 of their top 10 pitching prospects. Davis, Moore, Colome, McGee, Torres, and Barnese are all nice prospects. You could also add Kyle Lobstein to that group. I would also take 3B Matt Sweeney with 2 of those pitchers, but one of the pitchers would need to be Davis or Moore.
  25. I think the key is that you would need a "clearly" better deal from the Cubs than anybody else. With all things being equal, you trade with teams outside your division/league if possible. You don't want to potentially improve a team you play on a regular basis.
