  1. I was walking my dogs here on the East Side of Milwaukee today and we came across this masterpiece. I hurried them through the rest of their walk so I could get home, grab the camera and capture this, since words would not do it justice. http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c321/tristarscoop/IMG_3831.jpg
  2. I consider Paul a friend and his blog is a daily read for me. The ESPN column is just a sliver of what he writes. There's a daily posting full of links every day at uniwatchblog.com. I wouldn't consider anything he says about anyone to be pot shots. He's pretty clear on the fact that what he shares is his opinion, nothing more. He wasn't against the Brewers logo on the mound, he was against the brewers.com on the mound which is a part of his greater crusade against what he calls "logo creep." As noted in the originally linked blog post, Milwaukee is one of his favorite places and he comes here about once a year. I'm not trying to be pedantic, I just don't think it's fair to call him out and say he's taking shots at Milwaukee. Paul has some fairly hard core thoughts on uniforms. He's emphatically pro-stirrup and hates the long pants that end up under a baseball players cleats and he calls them pajama pants. He HATES the color purple. He's pretty vocally anti-Nike, though his corporate hate doesn't stop there. His big beef is that he thinks there are places that should be corporate-logo free. He thinks the jersey is a privilege and is representative of the long history of the league and therefore shouldn't be used to further a corporate agenda, among other things. That being said, you're not forced to agree with him. He's extremely open to discussion and you'll see in each entry that there are literally over a hundred comments per day. I have learned a lot from being a part of that community and I liken it to being around here. Just my two cents...
  3. Got my Fan's Choice 20 game pack in yesterday's mail. This is our first year. We have the exact same seats for every game. That being said, we asked for specific seats in an area I think people tend to shy away from - between the two support posts directly behind home plate in 422.
  4. The TJ Maxx down at the Grand Avenue has quite a bit of green gear. They've got zip up hoodies with the script Brewers and Milwaukee across the front and a shamrock on the arm. Those are $30, I think. They've got a green jersey with white sleeves. Those are $34.99. And they have a short sleeve green tshirt, two different designs - one the ball and glove, one a circle with the ball and glove and team name. That's $12.99. FYI
  5. The tone and the defensiveness, along with the old school, stuck in his ways manner in which Tom H comports himself reminds me of Yost so much it's not funny.
  6. Still haven't gotten my 20-game pack. Starting to make me a little nervous...
  7. Did the New Glarus tour this weekend and you Dancing Man fans will be happy to know that the girl behind the counter whipped out a little calendar thingy and said that it's coming out a little earlier than usual this year. She said April. They had some Apple Ale which is from their small batch series. I bought two bottles, so I'll be trying that soon.
  8. http://noalibisnoregrets.blogspot.com/SixtyMinutes.NoAlibis.NoRegrets%20Blog has a counter up. It's been 721 days, 21 hours and some minutes since we've won an OT game. Last night's game was one of the best games I've been to probably since the 2006 Championship run. The crowd was the loudest I've heard it in ages and it lasted the length of the game. Derek Stepan scored not one, but two short-handed goals in one penalty kill and had the opportunity more than once as the game went on to make it a natural hat-trick short-handed. It was spectacular.
  9. Atlanta is absolutely huge and sprawling, so if you're looking at going anywhere outside of where you're staying, then you'll need a rental car. Coke World is actually pretty cool and fun and its right downtown. As for safety - well, it's a big city. Be smart, but otherwise, you'll be fine. I was there by myself, driving, as a 22-year-old female and had no issues. The airport is fairly far south of the city, so keep that in mind. It's been a few years since I've been there, so I'll check with a few of my sorority sisters that live there and get more detailed answers to your questions.
  10. I bought tickets to the "Miller Park South" game at Wrigley on Sept. 17. Tickets were $16 each. Two tickets, with all the fees, cost me $48 and change. I couldn't believe all the fees. I figure it evens out with the free train ride, but dang!
  11. I guess I feel like if a company is asking for resumes and there are a long list of rules that I must follow in order to apply and be seriously considered, the least said company can do is send a form postcard, email, or voicemail that let's me know where I stand. Prospective employers hold all the cards and it seems unnecessary to keep people dangling. I can handle rejection. I'm an adult. Just give me a straight answer, that's all.
  12. If you go to IRS.gov, there is an area that allows you to choose which "free" program you'd like to use. There are different variables for each, but the standard is to have made under $56,000 for the year. Some are free based on age (under 25, over 60). I freelance write, so I'm partially self-employed. I claim things like home office space, utilities, depreciation on my computers and digital camera and car, paper, etc... and I still do my taxes myself. This is my second year. I also have student loan interest to claim. I have W2's, a 1099 and a 1098. Any one of the programs offered on IRS.gov are fine. They take you through step by step, ask which forms you'll be using and make it much easier. Last year I went to H&R Block, they did the whole thing and wanted to charge almost $300. I picked up my stuff and walked out, determined that I could do it for myself.
  13. Watching Friday and Saturday's games only served to show how utterly bad the UM crew is. There was little-to-no play-by-play. They were so wrapped up in the interviews they kept doing, they didn't have a clue what was going on in the game. On the goal that was called off, they were all "it's definitely a goal. The Badger would have missed Kangas if not pushed." The goal was called off and the 180 was so quick I got whiplash. It was painful.
  14. They said the answer during the broadcast. I want to say it was 2000 - it was further back than just 2005.
  15. The red is an odd choice, since it's one of Mexico's colors, as well. Why not go with blue, since it would be obviously exclusively USA. I'll be watching both games.
  16. The Admirals are having a dog event on Feb.15 and I would like to take my basset hound. He wears whatever you put on him, so I'd like a youth helmet for him to wear to the game. I'd like the simple, half-egg style, but can remove and reattach a cage, if necessary. He's already got a Tshirt to wear, so this would just make the look. Can anyone help me?
  17. According to the on-screen DirecTV guide, there's a Bucks game that night and that's the only thing I see them having scheduled at that time.
  18. They did pretty much everything they could at my job to keep from laying us off. At first, a few of us got cut from 40 to 32 hours. It was nice to not get completely laid off, but I needed extra pay. I got a part time job for 4 hours a day to make up some cash. Less than a month later, two weeks before Christmas, I got fully laid off from job one. The next day, I was able to go full time at job two. It's about $1 less an hour, but I'm so lucky that I had something to fall back on. Good luck to all those out there.
  19. It was much funnier than I was expecting. The interviews with Ueck were a little disappointing because Ueck did too much talking. He didn't really give the guys a chance to answer. I specifically noted that Prince looked smaller. Mike Cameron moved way up my list of favorite Brewers last night. First of all, he was in the lobby, chillin' when we walked in. He was just talking to people and drinking a beer. During the Family Feud style game show, one of the questions was about Canadian bands and there was a band on stage that played intros and outros, so he "cheated" and went over there to get the answer from them. He got gypped out of his turn at the podium and was "upset" about it, complaining to the rest of the guys on his team and Rickie had to put his hand over the microphone so no one could here Cam. I took some pics, including Cam in the lobby, which I'll try to get uploaded in the next day or so.
  20. I was at the game on Saturday night and the rebound goal Connelly gave up was just plain painful to watch. The puck plopped right off his chest and landed in front of the goal. Entirely to easy for the Tigers to score. It was made more painful later on when CCs goalie did the same thing and the Badgers weren't able to put the puck in.
  21. You're right jschris, they were given away much like the towels, tshirts and blankets that are given away at games and outside MP when you fill out a credit card application. I got my bobble at FanFest at the Midwest Express Center.
  22. Hawing, that's a great shirt - where did you find that? The bf got a Braun jersey - he's been dying for a pinstripe with the double numbers and name on the back in blue and gold. He also got a Brewers ornament, Brewers freezable pilsners, Brewers ball and hat wine cork set and an Octoberfest TShirt. He also got 2 UWM fleeces, a Columbia 1/4 zip shirt and an iPod alarm clock. The bro and I bought my mom a plane ticket to visit a cousin she hasn't seen in years. The bro got the aforementioned pilsners and cork set, a full-zip Columbia, and because he lives in Memphis, a playoff program and the DVD giveaway as well as a Packers book I bought at last season's On Deck event. The niece and best friend got Chorizo slippers I got crazy cheap at the Big League Blast Store at the end of last season.
  23. The coolest thing I got was vouchers for tickets for the SO and I to go to 2 TimberRattlers games along with a T.R. hat with the Brewers logo on the side. Complete surprise from the boyfriend, but very cool.
