  1. Did absolutely awful my first time, but 269 on my second try. Score. Something to do at work this afternoon!
  2. First 2 innings today: 35 or so minutes. Last night: 2 hours!
  3. Ueck just said we claimed former Red Todd Coffey off waivers and DFA's Nix
  4. http://stumptowngirl.files.wordpress.com/2007/09/homer_running.jpg I Googled Imaged Runs and this was the third picture. Somehow seems appropriate.
  5. "The same guy" is Phil. Phil is my hero. I want to be one of Phil's groupies!
  6. Can I also add this editorial that says it was posted yesterday on JSOnline.com? Was the editorial staff asleep for the past 2 weeks? Timely reporting there, JS. Editorial: Wounded red birds By untucking their shirts, the Milwaukee Brewers ruffled the feathers of the poor St. Louis Cardinals. So? From the Journal Sentinel Posted: Sept. 8, 2008 Baseball has become plain vanilla of late. Gone are the times of "Harvey's Wallbangers" and the "Big Red Machine." Today, there are few nicknames and even fewer characters like Reggie Jackson or Rollie Fingers. It also seems as though there are more unwritten rules. The latest unwritten rule stems from the St. Louis Cardinals taking offense to the Milwaukee Brewers untucking their jerseys after beating the red birds in St. Louis several weeks ago. Losing 10 out of 15 to the Brewers may have a lot to do with the sore feelings, but there's no crying in baseball. Here's a suggestion for St. Louis: If you want to stop the Brewers from celebrating: Beat 'em! Until then, chill out. The Brewers have been untucking their shirts all year in a show of support to centerfielder Mike Cameron. Cameron started the gesture back in 2000 to honor his father, who would come home and untuck his shirt after a successful day at work. He brought the gesture to Milwaukee, and it quickly caught on with the outfielders and soon spread to the infield. Now, most of the team does it after a win. The Brewers are on the brink of their first playoff berth in 26 years. If they accomplish that, we all should untuck our shirts for a job well done.
  7. My silver lining is that there's another Badger hockey fan on this board. Make it 3. I bought my 5 game pack on Saturday and have my first game vs Minnesota on October 25. VERY excited.
  8. Good Things - Bo Deans Fix You - Coldplay Babylon - David Grey This Year's Love - David Grey Beautiful Day - U2 She Is - The Fray Such Great Heights - The Postal Service Question - The Old 97s My Wish - Rascal Flatts Everything Else Disappears - Sister Hazel The Best of What's Around - DMB
  9. Wrigley does the same thing, which is a great. But they have it kind of backwards in that when you're coming in, the express line is "first" and so that long line of people blocks everyone else from being able to get to the "express lanes." As someone who goes to 25 or so games a year, I appreciate not only the cost effectiveness of the carry-in policy, but also the ability to bring in the type of diet soda and low-cal snacks I want to eat. That being said, it's always weird when you see the guy pull out the Subway bag or the family with the gallon sized ice cream bucket full of chips/popcorn. Not necessarily bad - but it just always looks odd. All that being said, the carry in policy allows me to enjoy the whole experience on an extremely frequent basis. I don't have to save up money and going MP isn't just a treat I can have when I save up enough money. That's huge to me. People are CONSTANTLY commenting to me about how many games I go to. With the ticket savings opportunities and the carry-in policy, it's one of the cheapest things my SO and I can do together.
  10. Anybody know if you pronounce Mat Gamel's name Guh-Mel or Gam-El?
  11. I was SO looking forward to this game killing some time this afternoon at work and I already want to turn it off.
  12. I can see this happening with my bf and I. I don't sleep well with others - I move around a lot and I feel bad doing so, so then I get very conscious of it and I'm so nervous about moving that I can never relax enough to sleep. In addition, I have the fan on pretty much all year long. I need the air to be moving or I get very uncomfortable. It's about the only non-exercise thing that will make my asthma kick in. My bf HATES the fan and constantly turns it off.
  13. If you're talking about the place on Packard, they closed.
  14. There are a lot of options out there now that allow you to "snack" and have things that you would normally have eaten that are less calories. I'm a big fan of 100 Calorie Packs. I have one of those in my lunch instead of candy/cookies/crackers/chips and with all the options out there, you feel like you're not completely cutting the things you love out of your life. The key is to not eat 4 of them a day. Someone suggested microwave dinners for portion control, but make sure you're watching fat grams and sodium content. I have had a hard time with willpower, so I've really become conscious of allowing myself things so that I don't feel like I'm eating water, bread and celery sticks. If I crave chocolate, I have one hershey kiss. I get the taste I was looking for and keep the calorie count down. I don't feel like I cheated and I don't feel like I have to stop eating foods. I also keep hard candy on my desk. There are plenty of low calorie choices and one mid-morning and one mid-afternoon keep me from snacking on something much worse.
  15. Do we have to be present or can we log in and participate online?
  16. We only order a pizza to go from Pizza Shuttle. It's not worth waiting for the delivery guy and it's not worth dealing with the psedo-emo/hip kids who are there. We usually spend about $20 and feed 3+ on a pizza and breadstick things, which we figure isn't so bad. Koppa's is a diamond in the rough. LOVE that I can walk there. I'll second Pizzaria Piccola. The smells in that place alone are worth the price. They also do a cool thing on Sunday nights where a non-profit comes in and works as the servers/bussers and all the tips and a portion of the profit go to the organization. I work with a dog rescue and we made more than $500 the last time we did it. Very cool of them to do.
  17. I would play.
  18. We switched to DirecTV this week. Our bill for 2 DVR boxes, one regular box, phone and internet was over $200/month with TW - no HD. I really, really, really hate the new boxes and new format the TW rolled out a month or two ago. The guide and DVR became less user-friendly and my box would spontaneously turn off on occasion and take up to 10 minutes to relaod. We're downgrading to RoadRunner Light, which is $20/month and Even after our initial 4 months of free stuff, we'll have the second tier package on 3 boxes for about $75/month.
  19. Anyone read the comments? At least one Card fan got it right: Bernie, I think it is important that you support the Cardinals but as reporter you need to get the facts straight. I am a Cardinals fan but I don't like erroneous reporting. Your article indicates the "Cardinals say…Vallanueva pointed into their dugout." Why didn't you check the replay to verify if this was correct? As the overhead reply shows, Villanueva was excited and pumped his arms, but he did not point at the Cardinal dugout until after Pujols ran towards him and pointed his bat at him. After watching the replay and hearing Pujols postgame comments, he is coming off as very hypocritical and contradictory. Likewise, don't throw stones at glass houses if you don't like the way the opposing team runs the bases after homeruns when Pujols does the exact same thing. I love the Cardinals and the "homer" reporting you offer, I just beleive you need to get the facts before rendering an opinion. - Ohio Fan 8:32 am August 28th, 2008
  20. Worst state for me is Illinois. I drive from top to bottom and I always did it in August, the week before their State Fair, so I was on the road with all the semis hauling stinky animals. I drove between Milwaukee and New Orleans about 3-4 times a year for 5 years. That's a 16 hour trip.
  21. They also aren't going to let people stay. Instead of setting up evacuation centers like the SuperDome, they're just bussing everyone out. They're already brought the busses in.
  22. I read somewhere this season that it was "The monster that ate Lance Berkman" this season and that about sums it up for me. The man looks like he's bloated with boy band hair.
  23. I think it is a "right" that is implicit in the purchase of the ticket. I am purchasing the ability to view the game live. I have paid for my seat, same as anyone else there. A person blocking my view, being obnoxious, etc... is infringing on the rights granted to me by holding that particular ticket. Just because you are a few rows ahead of me doesn't grant you more right to see the game than I have.
  24. I'm in. Pay or free, keeper or not, doesn't matter to me. I have a live draft tonight and next Tuesday, so I need to work around that.
