It's only the second inning and Uecker has already talked about jars of lard and what kind of batteries go in his pocket doppler. It could be a long afternoon of radio listening if this keeps up!
Best quote of the On Deck event - Bill/Brian were talking to Bill Hall and asked him about changing positions. He said he was going to try catcher next season.
Re: Kapler @ #2 - I read somewhere in the past few days that Ned is all about keeping the batting order the same despite Cameron being out. He wants there to be as much consistency as possible. I felt like "Because we went through 872 different lineup possibilities last season" was left unsaid.
I have to add to the KC love. I had a lot of fun at a game last year. Kaufmann is a completely different, but cool, stadium and their fans have suffered a long time. I have to say that I have a soft spot for Cleveland for the two completely inane reasons mentioned above: last year's series and Major League.
Technically it's not misspelled, it's mis-punctuated. They missed the apostrophe. They said the artist is fixing it in the next couple of days, so those there this week should take pictures now, before the fix.
Last year on Bill Hall's bobble day, my cousin partied in the parking lot for awhile waiting for the lines to go down. He hit up KFC on Hwy 100 on the way home for food and right behind him, in walks Bill. He ran out to the car and got the bobble signed.
Because the Mets' day wasn't bad enough when Pedro left the game injured, then Matt Wise came in the game in the 10th andgave up the walk-off homerun to Robert Andino - Andino's first major league homer Oh Matt, I miss you not at all!

During the broadcast Bill and Brian mentioned that the grounds crew was working on the mound before the Cubs pitched, but not before the Brewers. They said Yost finally called the umpire to task for it and also mentioned that we paused in the 8th so they could clean up the bullpen - when Gagne would have been warming up. With all his fidgeting on the mound, I can only figure that he wasn't getting his footing and was trying desperately to figure it out.
I agree that the most positive thing I got out of yesterday was that Gagne bounced back after giving up the HR and got himself out of the inning. I just don't think Turnbow would have been able to settle down enough to do that. I didn't have a problem with TGJ's bunt. Brian and Bill both seemed confused as to why he was bunting down third, but I think he was trying to be able to beat the throw and make it on base as well as advance the runner. After all the crap I heard out of Mets fans about Mota, I was more than impressed with him yesterday. Some of his stuff was just plain nasty - movement all over the place. 4 new pitching acquisitions took the mound and only one faltered - I was pretty happy with that.
Those are the key words and I don't see it happening. Wood had a hard time staying healthy when he was only needed every couple of days and then he had all day to prepare and warm up and be in the healthiest place possible. As a closer, he'll be needed multiple days in a row, may have to warm up on extremely short notice or may warm up and then not pitch. I really think the "oddness" of the closer's routine is going to be detrimental to Wood's stay healthy. In my head whenever I go over this situation, I think about our own injury prone starter Ben Sheets and I just can't imagine that anyone here would think it would be a good idea to convert him if he were in the same position. The injuries are just far too likely.
At the block parties they gave out wristbands and those people were guaranteed signatures. So there were 2 of us and we each stood in one line. One of us got two things signed and then met up with the other and the other person then got 2 things signed. That way we covered 4 guys instead of 2.
Anyone know if they limit you to one thing signed? Like if one of us is in the line for the first set of guys and one of us is in the line for the second set, can we both get something signed? When they did the block parties and used wristbands we did this.
Ok, first, I didn't say that I believe that criticism about Crean, just that it's one levied on him by detractors. Secondly, I'm playing devil's advocate, but don't you think those 3 would have improved even if you or I were coaching them?
