  1. Prince Eat Meat, I didn't see your post til just now - guess I probably could have saved myself some time. I ended up waking up an hour earlier than I planned, so I got breakfast and headed over to Miller Park about 945. I was probably 50th or so in line. Axe got there a few minutes early. When I got in my car, my clock read 1:08, which is kind of crazy.
  2. I guarantee that the entire Brewer game will be bumped from 620 on Friday night. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif Unfortunately, I'm sure your right. I plan on calling and complaining to the station when they announce that this will be happening on Friday though I'm sure it won't do a bit of good. It would be nice if the Brewers published a list of the alternate radio stations. They have a permanent list of statewide radio stations that normally play games. They should have a list of the other stations so you don't have to search for it. We were on the road to the T-Rats game on Saturday and had a hard time finding the game from Milwaukee all the way to Madison
  3. The constant stream of "but they're the best fans in baseball" in reference to Cardinals fans. We get it. They're self-righteous. They're douchey. No one buys their schtick. Every time they leave the game early or boo or say something dumb, multiple people on facebook, twitter and in comment sections say "but, you can't make fun of them, they're the best fans in baseball." You just sound bitter and jealous.
  4. Did anyone go to the Morgan signing at Miller Park? If I get there at like 9 am for the John Axford signing, is that early enough? I plan on just taking my Kindle and a chair in a bag and setting up camp.
  5. The last Nyjer Morgan sig I saw had his signature and "T.P" underneath
  6. Yeah, it was given out when you signed up for a credit card. I got mine at FanFest.
  7. Should have been a red card, definitely, but no penalty shot. Only a penalty shot if its in the box.
  8. In Boston, it's called the Freedom Trail. There is literally a line painted on the ground and you follow it all around the city to different landmarks, including the Old North Church, Ben Franklin's Grave and Fanueil Hall. It takes anywhere from 3 to 6 hours, depending on how long you spend at any one place and its free. The JFK Library in Boston is also pretty cool.
  9. You're a girl? Yes, yes I am. I'm Nicole that writes at BrewCrewBall
  10. Those are some really good points, twobrewers. Its been a while since we've had a cohesive "team"
  11. I'm a huge proponent of rescue. I work with the Minnesota/Wisconsin Basset Hound Rescue. I've been a foster home for more than six years and have had about 15 dogs come through my doors. I don't want to do a diatribe, but I did want to point out what I think is the best part of going through a rescue: The dogs are usually kept in foster homes, meaning you get a complete, thorough breakdown on what kind of dog it is. They can tell you how they interact with children, other dogs and cats. They tell you whether the dog is house trained or crate trained. Rescues don't want to get the dog back. Their goal is find a permanent, happy home for the dog, so the foster homes aren't going to lie to you or gloss over the rough bits of a dog's background. Becoming a foster home can also be a good way to introduce yourself to a breed and to find out whether or not they'll work in your home. Each breed has their own positives and negatives and you need to know both before you figure out if a dog will work with your family. I love fostering. Its not near as difficult and I'd have thought to see the dogs come and go because you know they're going to happy, loving families. I had one dog I really, really wanted to keep, but he went to a home where the lady went on a 3-5 mile hike in her own woods every day. It was a basset hound dream come true. I couldn't keep this guy from such a great life. Anyway, that's just my 2 cents. But if you're interested in rescue and have questions, feel free to ask.
  12. To be fair, we had a "girls of Brewerfan.net" tailgate two seasons ago. There were 5 of us, I think.
  13. I'm also looking for one. I have extra Axfords, plus pretty much anything else that's been given out over the past few years.
  14. Why would you want a game that ends because one of the teams gets tired and makes a mistake? That's taking skill completely out of the game. At least penalty kicks are a skill that require talented players. Penalty kicks aren't gimmes - the USA missed three in the final and Argentina missed four in the Copa America final.
  15. I disagree that it should have been a card in the box. As a former referee, I wouldn't have called it. Once she chose to leave her feet, she was no longer in control of herself and its difficult to call a foul in that instance when the player is wild. She didn't dive, exactly, but she definitely put herself in the best position to draw the foul. Solo got the yellow card for dissent. She, rightly so, questioned what the hell was going on.
  16. Of course, we scored in the stoppage time that existed because of her theatrics. Not that I'm legitimizing what she did, just saying that the delicious karma of it is pretty great.
  17. I was at The Highbury, a soccer bar in Bay View and it was so much fun to watch that game with a group of soccer-loving folk. The place went absolutely bonkers with Wambach's header. I've played soccer for 20 years and it's amazing to see how many people are watching and wrapped up in this team. Until Wambach equalized the game, I was saying that this was the type of game that people who hate soccer point to as a reason why. The diving and the whining and the poor refereeing - it could have been a real ugly story of FIFA.
  18. I've been trying to find a go-to cocktail and have been coming up empty. We've been going to some nicer restaurants and bars and I want to order something "nice" but haven't hit on anything yet. I don't like olives, so martinis are out. I tried Whiskey Old Fashioned Sour and it was ok. I like Whiskey and Bourbon and Rum. I don't mind Vodka in a mix, but don't really like when its the strongest flavor. Gin is gross. Anyone got any suggestions for a good bar drink everyone makes that I can adopt as my go-to?
  19. A lot of SABR terms are not in Firefox either. Lots of red comes up on these forums. I had to edit my BrewBerry's dictionary. Every time I typed "HR", it would change it to "hour". JaDerHeyski kept getting confused when I would send her a "The Brew now have 3 hours today!" message.Oh, please please tell me how do get my blackberry to stop doing this. It drives me nuts!
  20. One of each. Have all SGA from 2006 on, so don't need those. Make an offer
  21. My two favorite rieslings are Righteous Riesling and Monchhof. Righteous Riesling is about $10 a bottle. In Milwaukee, I find it at Vino 100 in the Third Ward and Discount Liquour on Oklahoma. Monchhof is more $20 a bottle and I find that at Ray's on North in Tosa. As a Riesling fan, I also really, really like Wollersheim Wineries River Gold and that's screwcap and $10 a bottle and I get that at Pick N Save.
  22. I second the suggestion for the Dry Tortugas. We took a boat there, not a sea plane - and it's a little pricey. But it's a 19th century fort that was built to protect shipping lanes. The thing was obsoltete before they finished it. They used it as a prison during the Civil War and Dr. Mudd was housed there. If you take the boat you get breakfasta and lunch, a tour of the fort, which is really cool, and then a chance to snorkel some really pretty reefs nearby. My best friend lives there and knows all the best drink specials by night, so if you let me know exactly what days of the week you'll be there I can let you know where to go. There's a desert place called Better Than Sex, which is really good. They do chocolate or carmel lined glasses of wine. So good. Alonzo's (located in the Seaport) is best known for its Happy Hour which runs from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily. All drinks plus everything on the left side of the menu is 50 percent off. It is definitely the place to get fresh seafood such as oysters, mussels, peel n' eat shrimp, and conch fritters among other things. www.alonzosoysterbar.com Virgilio's (located on Applerouth Lane at the corner of Duval Street) is best known for its Martini Monday night. Every Monday from about 7:30 p.m. until closing, all martinis are only $5. You can get practically any type of martini that you could think of from gin to vodka and from fruity to original to dessert-flavored. www.virgilioskeywest.com
  23. And it looks like crucial game 3 tonight isn't on in Milwaukee, though FSN will be showing poker, so that's good
  24. Badgers women just beat defending national champions Minnesota-Duluth to advance to the Frozen Four. They'll be playing four-seed Boston College Friday in Erie, PA
  25. That commercial is actually WORSE than you think it is. Because he's not saying "relax," he's saying "Grillax." http://www.terrysweet.com/grillax
