  1. I mean this with 100% sincerity....would the Huntsville offense as a whole be more productive than this lineup? I understand it is hard to project up two levels...but I really am starting to think they may be our best offensive unit. That is just sad
  2. JJ could you please do the little things....hit behind runners, sac flies, ground balls to second with a guy on third with less than two outs. You have little to no power (with the exceptions of 2 months last year) and don't hit for a high average. Please do the little things.....so I will like you again!
  3. What are the odds that we see a Jackson v Ortiz matchup at some point this series? Probably just as good as the odds of us coming up on the short end of that match up!
  4. So Hammond stole second, and not on a busted hit-and-run. Apparently he has four steals in his year+ at Huntsville. Interesting He probably figures if he can steal a few he may give Gywnn a run for his money on a roster spot. I am sure Hammond can out hit him, so if he steals a few bags theres a chance! I am only half kidding:(
  5. Gobias, I guess I need to take issue with your point (not you in particular as many have made the same point) in that I am somewhat tired of hearing people complain about things going well for other teams, and yet the Brewers can't catch a break. Sure the Cubs have made quality starters out of Dempster, and Marquis and the Cards are winning games with Pinerio, Wellenmeyer, Lohse, etc, but maybe it has something to do with the coaching these guys are receiving and not just luck. The Brewers have all of this supposed talent and yet they can never seem to harness it. Maybe it is Maddux and Skaalan and not just the luck of other teams.
  6. Ryan Braun is the face of the Milwaukee Brewers. Watching that press conference he is such a well spoken young man who seems to really have a head on his shoulders. Ryan's parents should be very proud of him, and I am glad he is representing our team for the next 8 years.
  7. I was going to start a thread on this topic, but I guess it will work just as well here. This is a serious question....what kind of line does Prince Fielder need to put up to justify him not being a liability to this team. Prince flat out is not hitting. He is not driving the ball consistantly and is hitting way to many weak ground balls. His defense is absolutely horrible. He has ZERO (0) Range at First base, doesn't scoop low throws well, and botches a lot of routine plays. I know they keep talking about how hard he works.....really....then why does he continue to suck at fielding. If he was truly working day in and day out some sort of improvement would be evident, would it not? I sure don't see it. At this point in the season, I would say that Prince has hurt this team more than he has helped. Sure the season is young, but when it all is said and done with what kind of numbers would he have to put up in your opinion to make up for his shortcomings.
  8. What amazes me is how many people are surprised by losses like this. This is exactly what you get from a team that plays horrible defense and has below average pitching. Walks and piss-poor defense lost this game....nothing less.
  9. The Brewers defense SUCKS! If I hear one more time how tight they have been I will puke. Fielder has to make that play ......and Braun well.....he's learning I guess. If Parra doesn't get a W tonight I will be sick.
  10. Gagne's been the victim of some bad situations, but he's more often made them for himself C'mon....the guys ERA is nearly 7 with a WHIP coming up on 2. He flat out sucks. Sure he may have been squeezed a little in Houston, but he has been terrible.
  11. Jim Rome summed it up best a few years ago, Eric Gagne is a piece of CRAP. Eric the only reason you were ever good was because of the needles you were injecting into your rear end.
  12. Berkman and its not even close. Berkman is a better overall hitter and the defense is not even comparable. Fielder is a liability at firstbase.
  13. Frank Kremblas....I want everything associated with the 82 Brewers gone from this organization. Just because you had a good year with a team 26 years ago doesn't mean you are qualified to manage a major league team. I am so sick and tired of running through retreads of that team within this organization. It was 26 years ago......MOVE ON! Let this team build its own idenity and quit celebrating a team that didn't even win the World Series. I am a 30 years old with a child of my own and I don't remember a thing about that team....I was 4. Let the past be the past.
  14. Let's see what happens until then and watch to see what progress Carlos V and Parra make. If at the all star break we are still stuggling mightily I say trade both Sheets and Fielder for as much pitching as possible and try to rebuild this team around pitching. It doesn't have to be deep rebuiding but try and get as many young solid arms in the system as possible. LaPorta isn't too far away and this team as it is currently constructed will never win anything above 2nd place in the NL Central.
  15. I will preface this by saying that I actually like Bill and Brian.....but is anyone else sick of them saying the same thing over and over about this team. "When the hits come they will come in bunches" "When the homeruns come they will come in bunches" "When it rains it pours" "When Rickie gets on he usually scores" Maybe....just Maybe this team the way it is constructed is not very good.
  16. The problem does not lie in the players themselves. Prince, Braun, and Cory are great young players. The problem lies in the fact that outside of Yovanni (who is injured and will not play again this year) zero of our future core comes in the way of pitching. There are no stud pitchers on the horizon (although I do think Manny will be solid in the future) and where will this organization come up with the funds to attract what we need. You can have all the bats you want, but good solid pitching and good defense wins games. Look at the Twins of earlier this decade. They won games with a lineup made up of many common fans never even heard of (outside of Mauer and Morneau). Sheets can not be considered as part of the core of this team any longer because it is pretty widely accepted that he is long gone after this year. Melvin needs to find a way to get one or two more pitchers that can come here and at least log respectable lines and be counted on to pitch more than 4-5 innings. The pitching on this team has not even been close to consistant enough this season to make me think we will contend this year or into the future. How can anyone fault any member of the bullpen so far this year with the way it is being used. Which brings me to the point of why Maddux gets a free pass here while Yost continues to get roasted day after day. With our staff as it is currently made up what has Maddux done? Sheets has always been great when healthy. You have two young pitchers in Eveland and Parra who never struggled with control in the minors and they come up and neither of them could hit water if they fell out of a boat. Bush has regressed over three years. The entire basis that Capuano was ever good was misleading based upon his 18 win 2006 season. I guess I just don't see what Maddux has done that makes people believe he is such a great pitching coach.
  17. Dude come on....Craig has been solid this year.
  18. Wow how soon we forget. The sweet little stroking of the ball to right center to win the game in extra innings against Cincinnati was a perfect example of not trying to do to much. He took a pitch that was about 6 inches outside and went with the pitch and stroked it into right center field to drive in the two go ahead runs.
  19. Just by looking at the feeds I think the away team feed is always the first channel with the home team feed being the second channel. For example: Brewers at Reds Brewers Feed is 726 Reds Feed is 727 (if the game is available in HD it would be 726-1, 727-1)
  20. Here's one that has been offered to me. I get: Corey Hart and Hank Blalock I give: Eric Gagne I also have the following closers: Trevor Hoffman Rafael Soriano BJ Ryan Brandon Lyon To me it seems like a no brainer to take this.....thoughts? I also could turn around and flip the following deal I get: Ben Sheets Howie Kendrick I give: Johnny Cueto Garrett Atkins
  21. ZZZ, I wouldn't do that. Bedard is a huge injury risk and in Cain you will get someone who will probably help your ERA, but will hurt your W/L record solely because of the team he plays on. Sizemore is a 4 category stud and AJ is a solid starter as long as he remains healthy and is on pretty solid team
  22. Honestly I think a lot of the booing comes from the fact that Milwaukee is such a "Blue Collar Town". I have spent 1/2 my life in Wisconsin and half of it on the west coast and while I will take midwesterners any day of the week and twice on Sunday over people on the west coast....they do seem to have a bit of a angry mentality against people who make/have money. Again I am generalizing a bit here and don't mean to lump everyone into one group of people, but when I go to games and talk to fans (many of which are in my family) I seem to get the "these guys are paid how many millions each year....he should hit .350" mentality. The playoff drought as mentioned above doesn't help as well.
  23. This is not an advance on any future tax returns. This is a one time stimulas. It will have no bearing on your tax return for 2008 or beyond. It will deflate the dollar thus imposing an indirect tax (inflation) but that is another topic for an entire different discussion.
  24. Guys I am heading down for Sunday and Monday's games (3/23, 3/24). Any idea who might be pitching either of those games....starting that is?
