  1. Sorry guys...I was out of town for a funeral and slowed getting back by some flooding, but Garza sounds good! The Reds young pitching keeps getting better and we love Corey Patterson in Center! (this might've kept Josh Hamilton in cincy and Volquez in Texas in real life)
  2. What a perfect post for the 1000th post in the vent thread. What Ned did tonight is baffling. Just think of how much a genius Doug Melvin could've looked like if he had fired Ned when badger blogger (or whatever its callled) rumored it.
  3. Law thinks the Cards will take Wallace
  4. Nice that Rickie had a day off to be with his bro on draft day
  5. I'll take Cincinatti. This is based on the needs of the team as of 2005, right? edit: nevermind....based on what the team needs now I suppose since a lot of these guys are just breaking into the bigs.
  6. Ugh, I often wonder what we could've gotten for a SS who has 35 HR potential. Imagine the load we could've gotten a couple years ago. I know hindsight is 20/20....
  7. So, I suspect Hall will be back in the lineup, but Branyan actually hits DD very well. Still, I think Ned sticks with the platoon as Billy hasn't had a start in a while (and he's also taken DD out too).
  8. This is one of those lineups that will either surprise the hell out of me and score ~12 runs, or it will be stifled and get ~2-3 hits. As for Bush, he reminds me of Tomo Ohka. He can look dominate 1 start and then look like he doesn't even belong in the majors the next. Maybe that's typical for a #5 starter though.
  9. I don't think it's that dire. If the Cubs have a below average month, say 12-15, the Brewers could be right back in it. The Cubs finally do have some road games this month -- 17 of the 27 in fact, so I'd say about 12 wins wouldn't be a stretch. They have to slump sometime, right?
  10. The month starts in less than an hour, but what-the-hey, let's get some predictions in. I'm optimistic about the month of June. We've got 13 home games (including 3 interleague series') and 13 road games. 1 vs. HOU 3 vs. ARI 3 at COL 3 at HOU 3 vs. MIN 3 vs. TOR 3 vs. BAL 3 at ATL 3 at MIN 1 at ARI I predict we go 15-11. This includes completing the sweep today, and winning every series except for the TOR series, the ATL series, and the road MIN series.
  11. or 2 pitches....lol....I like the move Ned
  12. Props to Ned for pulling Parra with only 87 pitches. I'm sure the pen could use the break, but Parra is in a bit of a groove lately and I wouldn't want to see his confidence shaken or his pitch count raised in a 4 run game.
  13. ...and a stolen base. I knew I should've started him for Matsui who went 0-5. Dumb!
  14. Is it possible that Bruce will walk less than Braun? From Rotoworld: "Bruce has just 27 walks in 405 plate appearances at Triple-A and even that number is misleading. Five of his free passes were intentional, which means that he's drawn a non-intentional walk in just 5.4 percent of his plate appearances for a walk rate that would be 35 percent worse than the NL average."
  15. Bush had one of his best outings last year while dueling with Hudson in Milwaukee. He went 7.0 innings, allowing just 1 run and striking out 6. Of course the combination of Turnbow, Shouse, and Spurling (remember him!) allowed 7 runs in the 8th and we lost 9-3, but at least Bush had some success against the Braves. Do it again Bushie! No Turnbow to mess it up for you this time!
  16. Yeah probably Gagne to the DL, but ZachJack could be sent down too.
  17. Line-ups from JSOnline.... No Hall at 3rd. Some interesting tidbits on that, Gagne, and Weaver from TH as well... 2B Rickie Weeks CF Mike Cameron LF Ryan Braun 1B Prince Fielder RF Corey Hart SS J.J. Hardy 3B Craig Counsell RHP Ben Sheets C Jason Kendall Linkage
  18. Moreso than Jim Rome, hisself? Blasphemy!! I enjoy a good Rome interview myself.
  19. Hmmm. No it should be free. What website did you download it from? They do ask for donations when I use it sometimes, but it doesn't require you to pay anything.
  20. It's kind of funny that Melvin doesn't come out and say "Ned's safe." He just said he wouldn't comment on what someone writes on their blog....interesting
  21. A new blog from TH. It's a pretty funny one too. It's about Braun's comments and of course today's circus.... Link Edit: some excerpts....Some one could make an awesome photo-shop'd picture with that 2nd quote
  22. Yamipod. It's free, just google it and you should find out how to download it. It pulls songs off of your ipod and puts them on your computer. Then you can put those songs onto your iTunes. Much easier than burning onto CDs.
  23. That K pitch was above Weeks' shoulders
  24. Hey a lefty! C'mon Braun, no 0-6 today
  25. Yeah, but I'd imagine it'd be hard for Melvin to justify a $10 million dollar set-up man. But that's a shame.
