  1. I could see a position player coming up, initially..especially if Braun's calf is still a lingering issue...and then if the bullpen which is rested now has a game where they have to eat innings in the first 2 or 3 games, they bring up a bullpen arm for a couple of days and send the bat back down.
  2. The blackouts go by zip code. When I lived in Nebraska and travelled to Iowa with MLB.tv...you would have up to 6 games blacked out...they do it by IP address, not subscription. Also, for some reason, one zip code 68120 in Nebraska is considered a home area for Milwaukee....why I have no idea, I was one of the few Brewer fans living in Omaha.
  3. Let them talk about the Phillies....Stay under the radar, and win it in the last week.
  4. Optimism is a good thing. The local press seems to think that we'd save everyone the time and trouble if we just went out and shot ourselves. Me, I'm for wasting sportswriters' time. So I figured we ought to hang around for a while and see if we can give 'em all a nice big shitburger to eat!
  5. Get to 71-71....Takes a 142 games to get to .500... and then play their asses off the last 20 games and let the chips fall where they may.
  6. I stood in line today waiting to ride Space Mountain...with my wife and my daughter and just in front of us was none other than Chris Dickerson of the New York Yankees. I was wearing my Milwaukee Brewers hat and he asked me how the Brewers were doing this year...(at this point, I don't think he knew that I recognized him...as we were in line for 20 minutes already.) My response back was that the Brewers were doing much better this year thanks to some good pitching and then I mentioned that I appreciated his time with the Brewers last year...I think that took him back, I don't think he gets recognized very often. We had a nice conversation and he mentioned that he talked with Ryan (i assume Braun) and that Ryan told him that things were going much better this year. He asked where I was from and when I told him that I was from the Quad Cities, he talked about how he played against them when he was in the minors when they were the Quad Cities Swing...and was suprised that they changed their name back to the River Bandits. I asked him if he liked playing in New York and he said he loved it....I wished him good luck and told him that I would be pulling for him Saturday night when we go watch the yankees play the angels (but I said it is still hard for a Brewer fan to pull for the Yankees). I was very impressed with him, very nice guy....and I told my daughter that he probably has the best job in the world....he gets paid very well to play baseball and very few people recognize him, so he can stand in line and not be bothered....(had he not talked to me first, I would not have bothered him....I said to myself, that I need not bother him as he was just here with his girlfriend(who was very hot) and he was just finding a way to relax on his day off.
  7. I have been doing my weights MWF....i have not gotten the number of cardio sessions I need, but am working at that....as the weather gets nicer, it will become easier, as I love to get out on the bike. I had been struggling with food, but just had some test results and my numbers were not so good, so I have been very dedicated to eating better in the last week....(as my daughter pointed out, that I am in search of the World's best Grilled Chicken sandwich...as that is the only thing on most menu's that isn't horrible for me...or at least isn't the great unknown when ordering off a menu) Here are my test numbers.....I am getting tested again in 3 to 4 months (38 years old for reference) Total Cholesterol 186 mg/dl HDL cholesterol 30 mg/dl Tryglcerides 230 mg/dl LDL cholesterol 110 mg/dl Chol/HDLC Ration 6.2 Glucose 89 mg/dl Waist Circumference 44 in Blood Pressure 130/80 This is the highest my Blood pressure has ever been....and My doctor has put me on Niaspan in attempts to get my good cholesterol number higher (I have been taking 1500 MG of Niaspan a day for 2 years and my good cholesterol number has not budged) This is also the first time my Trygycerides have been elevated and it is the highest my LDL cholesterol has been.
  8. I think stealing when down 10 is more of a risk/reward thing. You need 10 runs, so you need to keep people on the bases, so it is not worth risking an out to move up a player one base...when you really need a big inning...(not manufacturing one run)
  9. Try living in Iowa.....MLB.TV blacksout all local teams....which is crazy...none of these teams should be blacked out in Iowa. The below-listed Club(s) is within the searched home television territory, and MLB.TV is subject to blackout for all regular season live games for these Club(s): Chicago White Sox Milwaukee Brewers Chicago Cubs St. Louis Cardinals Kansas City Royals Minnesota Twins Approximate Zip Code: 52722
  10. I just read that the HTC EVO Tablet is coming out this summer... and the HTC Flyer (I think is what they will call the WiFI version.
  11. Why leave Estrada in after a guy reaches second base.
  12. I went to the John Deere Classic here in the Quad Cities.... If you want to see a lot of different golfers and get a feel for the whole course.... I would suggest walking the course backwards....Starting at hole 18 (once players have gotten to 18) and work your way backwards...you will see the entire course and since you are going backward and the players are going forward, you get to see pretty much the hole field...Also if you keep track of the pairings, you can manage to get a good spot when you know one of the top players is coming up....Because you can "pause" your walk backward when you know that Tiger or Phil is coming up in the next group or two.
  13. I was shocked to read the dislike of this trade... anytime you can get any pitching for 4th tor 5th outfielder...I think you take it....I think you can find serviceable outfielders all over the place...but pitching is tough to come by.... Mitre is no world beater, but he does have some experience....and has had some successes along with some failures.
  14. Southpaw Thanks for the tips....I will get put my goal at 2500 calories a day...and start from there. I work from home and generally work out from Noon to 1 Pm on Mon, Tues, Wed and Friday. (MW, I have been doing the p90x Weight workout, on Fridays I have been doing the upper body Weight training videos from the Insanity program...one of the bonus CD's that mixes Cardio with weight lifting) I am pretty good at mixing in Cardio workouts, from Treadmill, elipitcal, biking outside, Swimming, basketball and occasionally jogging....I will try to get up in the morning and get in some cardio before breakfast (not a morning person, and have to get a daughter off to school, so I will have to work on that) As for weight lifting.....What I struggle with is knowing what exercises to do...my upperbody has never been very developed (always have been weak), but my lower legs have always been great...I have had body builders ask me how I have such developed Calves...they must come naturally, but I have worked out with guys that are weight guys and while I could never lift what they did on upper body exercises, I could usually do whatever they were doing when doing Leg exercises. do you have any specific workouts with reps that you would reccomend...assuming I did weight training MWF... Thanks....i appreciate you advice.
  15. I will Capuano...I was pulling for his comeback, but it seems we won't get the benefit of him coming all the way back.
  16. I think Gomez is really a key to the ignition of the offense... Last year in games when he was causing havoc on the basepaths, it really seemed to liven up the offense. I am hoping he gets on base more, and forces RR to move him up in the lineup based on his play...
  17. Southpaw, I am 5 11" and weigh about 230 pounds...all the men on my father's side of the family are generally over 400 pounds at some point in their life, so I have to work my butt off to stay in shape. I am 38 years old and have stayed in the 220-235 range for the last 10 years.. I have counted calories and did so for about 18 months (lately I have gone the last two months without counting calories, just trying to make better choices) I have completed p90x and Insaninty and liked a lot about both of those programs, but there were things I did not like... I competed and finished a Sprint Triathlon (trained for an Olympic distance and it was shortened day of race to Sprint due to oncoming storm)... In the spring and summer, I usually take 40 miles bike Rides on Sunday mornings which I really enjoy. I workout at least 5 hours a week now (usually I do a videos of p90x/Insanity three days a week(the weight training days, not cardio days) over lunchhour, play basketball one night and mix in a cardio session of somekind during the week). my Struggle is with food....When I counted calories, I was probably averaging about 2700 calories a day....my goal was lower, but I struggled with it. If you would like to give me any ideas/pointers, I would love to hear them....I like varieties in workouts, but will admit when I go to the gym, I am not always comfortable with knowing what is worth doing and what is wasting my time.... I have a gym membership to the YMCA, I have a pull up bar at home, and dumbells up to 25 pound. I would appreciate to hear your thoughts.
  18. I have done p90X and would say it is very good...It is challenging, but none of the workouts are impossible. I have also done INSANITY and if you want to get your ass in shape, that is the one to do...I did that in preparation for a triathlon last summer and I will give it all the credit for getting me ready that the Triathlon was a breeze. Insanity is great because their are no props...it is all push ups, cardio, body exercises...no weights, no bands, nothing....just using your body to get you back in shape...about 99 Bucks, but well worth it.
  19. I never understood the love for Cameron...when he was at the plate, I never had any confidence that he was going to have a good at bat when we needed it. His fielding was good...but he made some atrocious plays that were inconceivable to me when me made them.
  20. I chose Gomez...because I think he is going to perform better than expected and when he plays well, the offense seems to click... Fielder and Braun will get theirs (and will probably be more valuable in most senses), but to me...Gomez is one of the Keys to avoiding games where we just seem to be waiting for the three run homer....and just don't seem to score. with our pitching, scratching out a run or two can turn games into wins...
  21. King of Kong: Fistful of Quarters. Must see...documentary.....unbelievable the world of nostalgic video game playing.
  22. For distance driving in a car after the computer says destination to empty is zero...without ever running out of gas.
  23. I completed a Triathlon last July...Sprint distance with 500 meter swim, 20Km Bike and 5 KM run. A year before to the day, I started training and was only able to jog/run about 2 city blocks which took me about 48 seconds.... To get myself in cardio shape, I invested in the Insanity program from beach body...and it incredible in how much it helped me get ready to run...(i had not run at all in 6 months last may, due to winter and not wanting to pressure my knees) and I went out and ran 10KM in one hour without stopping.... I was training for a olympic distance triathlong which is 1500 meters swim, 40 km bike and 10 KM run...and it was shortened the day of the race due to weather.... I am already trying to get myself back into triathlon shape as i plan to run one in late May and then run the new Hy-Vee 5150 ironman triathlon on Labor day.
  24. 1 Weeks 2 Gomez 3 Braun 4 Fielder 5 Hart 6 Mcgehee 7 Lucroy 8 Betancourt 9 Pitcher I like Gomez at the top of the order...Get him or Weeks on Base and there threat to run, might give Braun more fastballs throughout the year..
  25. I would rather have Gomez at 1.5 mill than Cameron at 7 million....heck I would rather have Gomez over Cameron at any price.
