  1. Who knows, maybe Melvins ships Parra and Betancourt to some team for a SS. I think we have to find a spot for Parra...or we might have to give up on him..
  2. I know I am in the Minority, but I still think Gomez is better for the team in CF than Cain. He is a spark plug....yes he needs to improve is OBP....but he is a dynamic player...
  3. I barely broke 100, but I got Mark Knudson...which was the toughest according to the survey. I missed Jenkins...which is sad, because I named my Dog after him.
  4. I have never found a good Milwaukee Bucks Message board. Is there any out there that has good discussions about Bucks basketball on a similar level as we get at Brewerfan.net...
  5. Gomez is generally the type of ball player that I despise...however, he is one of the guys on the team that can create havoc on the bases and change an individual game...He can distract pitchers, steal bases, etc...and just disrupt the focus of the pitchers on the other teams... I do think he can improve his plate discipline...but it will take a manager that penalizes him when he loses focus at the plate and goes away from his game plan at the plate.....You can't keep running him out there and expect him to change...
  6. I agree that Wolf is what he is... he is an average major league pitcher...and for a team that struggles to find average major league pitchers....we need him to be average next year (but would take better than average)...and hopefully find a #2 starter and one of the young guys become the #3.
  7. I want to see him back in Milwaukee...but don't give him the job, make him earn it. Make him take a strike in every at bat in winter ball...no swinging until you have a strike on you....I think he needs to see more pitches.
  8. When the guy in questioned, signed with the Brewers, I thought he was a great value pick up...I think he went 1-2 in 5 starts for the Brewers in 2003... and then got hurt.
  9. I would not be opposed to hiring a younger manager without a track record...Surround him with solid Baseball men and see if he can light a fire under this squad. it seems to me that this team plays better when they are fired up...but often seemed to tak a business like apporach to the game, which doesn't fit the players we have personality. I think we need to bring in a manager thar relates to the players and brings out their peronalities....i think the right manager could get a lot out of Gomez, for example...
  10. Suppan did exactly what was needed today...keep the Brewers in the game...Any pitcher was going to give up runs, and he did what he did to keep the Brewers in the game. if he pitches like this in next few games, macha will have made a good decision....He gave up 4 runs, but I would say that with the wind blowing out, that is a solid effort.
  11. I had more faith in suppan getting the job done, than I have had in any of our other starters today....Maybe, because he is exactly what we expect... he will give up some runs, but with this offense, he will keep the Crew in the game....Our other starters, you just wait for them to have the bad inning and hope that somehow one of hte hard hit balls is caught to get them out of the inning. Right now...You don't know what you are going to get with any of the other four guys.....
  12. I like the move...I think Suppan will keep do fine as the fifth starter. Looking at his starts last year...he pitched solid in 14 starts, poorly in 13 starts and ok in 3 starts. That is good enough for me out of 5th starter. I think Narveson may pitch his way into the fifth spot, but right now I sure did not want to see Manny Parra come into the colorado series when the Brewers had a lead...I have less confidence in him to grind through his struggles than I do in Suppan grinding through his struggles. The question for me is Narveson may be more important as a reliever right now than as a starter.,..
  13. Thing about Soup is that he is what he is.... IN 2008, without Suppan's strong August, we would not have made the playoffs....
  14. 12-10 with a rainout in Chicago 6+5+6+17
  15. I know very few on here are suppan fans...but I think he would performa about as well as last year and the Brewers would win 45% of his starts...not the end of the world for a fifth starter. i don't know if Parra can match that...I think Narveson might be able, to...but no guarantees. With Suppan, he is very much a jeckyll and hyde pitcher, on the games he has it going, he still can be effective and with the Brewers offense, the Brewers could still get wins when he pitches.
  16. If they do start the fifth guy on the 15th, they can skip him on the 20th, because of the off day on the 19th, so the fifth starter will probably only get 3 starts in April.
  17. I think this is an 86 win team...but if they maintain that pace, melvin might make a move to add a piece or two that might get them over the hump and into the playoffs. so 86-76 is my guess, but hoping that Melvin makes a move in July and get this team to a 90 win team and in the playoffs.
  18. If they use the fifth starter sparingly in April, only when needed, I would rather see Suppan in that role...and then when the fifth starter is needed more often, if Suppan has not done enough to keep it, you move to Parra or Narveson....whoever has performed better.... looking at the schedule, the Fifth starter will only get 3 starts in April...I think Suppan would fit that role best in April...it will allow Narveson and Parra to get more regular work...Suppan is a verteran and I think will be able to handle the long layoffs best. This rotation gives the top 4 starters 4 days rest between each start and 5 days rest once during the month of April. I added May (but probably with injuries, rainouts, etc...this could change, but it shows that the fifth starter will get 7 starts in the first 2 months, while starters 1-4 will get 11 starts each.. The question is do we want to put a young guy like Narveson or Parra in the fifth starter position where if they have a tough start, they may have to wait a long time to get another shot...confidence is vital and being the fifth starter early in the year when they skip your turn often, can destroy it....once June hits, I think most teams are less likely to skip guys in the rotation and truly use 5 man rotations and give extra rest when they have the off day... so, my opinion is give Suppan 7 starts to start the year...if he succeeds, great...if not Cut him June 1st and slot Narveson or Parra in his spot....unless injuries already have forced our hand. 5 Gallardo 6 Wolf 7 Davis 8 off 9 Bush 10 Gallardo 11 Wolf 12 Davis 13 off 14 Bush 15 Gallardo 16 wolf 17 Davis 18 5th Starter Suppan 19 off 20 Bush 21 Gallardo 22 Wolf 23 Davis 24 Suppan 25 Bush 26 Gallardo 27 Wolf 28 Davis 29 Suppan 30 Bush 1 Gallardo 2 Wolf 3 off 4 Davis 5 Bush 6 Gallardo 7 Wolf 8 Suppan 9 Davis 10 Bush 11 Gallardo 12 Wolf 13 off 14 Davis 15 Bush 16 Gallardo 17 Wolf 18 Suppan 19 Davis 20 Bush 21 Gallardo 22 Wolf 23 Suppan 24 off 25 Davis 26 Bush 27 Gallardo 28 Wolf 29 Suppan 30 Davis 31 Bush
  19. 5.125% for a 30 year loan...
  20. He is insulting Burns, who will be back in Nashville in a week. McClung will go back to the bullpen and will be fine.... if very well could backfire, but it might make some of the Brewers mad...like they were on Saturday...This team seems to play better when they are mad.
  21. I have two Dogs.. A Black lab that is Ten years old Named Jenkins....great Dog name...makes it sound like you have a butler at home.... and another Black Lab named Rufus.
  22. I have no confidence in Hall at the plate to get a hit.
  23. I am just thinking that Maholm could be that guy who starts putting up good numbers after not impressing at first.
  24. I think Maholm could be the next Edwin Jackson.... Scott Olsen of the Nationals is another that could figure it out and end up being a darn good pitcher.
  25. You can get tickets via ticket master for most games. They sell GA tickets at the local Grocery chain (Hy-Vee) that will get you in the door. There are season tickets that are the reserved tickets that are the best seats. These have been in families for years and years and you need to know someone, generally to get those.
