  1. Caleb Gindl gets no love once again. I guess an .862 OPS in AAA as a 22 year old, is not as promising as a 4.38 ERA in low A ball also as a 22 year old. When does Scooter start getting the too short treatment?
  2. I saw Franklin Morales listed also, I wouldn't mind trading for him either.
  3. I wouldn't mind seeing the Brewers trade for Huston Street. I hear he's available.
  4. Changed that for sarcasm. "a great teammate"? Really? I'm going to pose that question to Manny Parra on Twitter and see what his reply is... You can base your opinion off of one incident that happened a couple of years ago and I'll base it off the many comments I've heard from coaches and teammates, and what I've seen from watching him the last 6 seasons.
  5. His last 2 "down" years he hit 32 and 34 home runs, and had a .871 and .879 OPS. I'm not sure where your getting the 29 hrs from, but who cares if he has a .276 BA, his OBP has been over .400 the last 3 seasons. The man is only 27 years old, has been extremely durable, and is well on his way to a hall of fame career. Add in the fact that he is a great teammate and that he is extremely marketable, I don't think it's so crazy to think he'll get a $200 million deal. I think he's going to be a lot harder to replace than a lot of Brewers fans think. It makes me kind of sad to see this topic, I wish the title would change to something else like, "Prince Fielder thread".
  6. I think its a great idea and seems to make a lot of sense. However that doesn't seem like a move Melvin would make to me, unless they were trying to free up money to re-sign Prince.
  7. I'd rather give Jimmy Rollins a 4 or even 5 year deal than give Furcal a 3 year deal.
  8. I've brought up Chase Headley in a couple of other threads, but I agree if he is available and wouldn't cost a ton, I would absolutely love to have him on the Brewers. He may not have a lot of power, but he is good defensively and can get on base. I think his numbers would improve dramatically w/ a move to Miller Park from Petco.
  9. According to his agent he's looking for a 3 year deal. I really like Rafael Furcal, but I think a 3 year deal would be a big mistake. He's been very injury prone over the last couple of seasons, and was thinking about retiring w/ the Dodgers last season.
  10. It's absolutely crazy to me that the players and owners have come to this. Why in the world would they wait until the end of the 10 year contract to start negotiations? Do they not realize the damage this is going to do to the NBA's image? I'm a huge Bucks fan, and I love the NBA, but even I will have a hard time giving even a penny of my money to the NBA after this gets resolved.
  11. So he had a .359 OBP last season w/ over 500 PA's, and a .379 OBP the year before in over 400 PA's, but you don't think it's sustainable as a regular? We have plenty of guys that can get XBH, Jamey Carroll also has batted over .290 the last 2 , is a solid defender and baserunner and is not going to break the bank.
  12. I'm guessing it's because his career .356 OBP, and his ability to play 2b, SS, 3b, OF all pretty well. He doesn't offer power, but seems to still have plenty to offer. I don't get why you wouldn't want him.
  13. He was talking about getting ready to play first during the offseason at his press conference I was watching. I think that might be the Phillies plan until Howard comes back.
  14. I love the idea of getting Chase Headley, and am starting to think Furcal might be the best vaule option at SS. I'd much rather see Wolf traded than Narveson, and I kind of want to see Gamel get the job at 1B, but I'd be ok w/ that deal. All in all, I think that would be a good off-season.
  15. No doubt, I'd give him a NRI or non guaranteed minor league deal in a second, one of my favorite Brewers ever.
  16. A guy I would target is Cliff Pennington from the A's to be our ss for the next couple seasons, apparantly everybody on the A's is available.. His career OPS is 84 points higher on the road, although his ss defense is a little questionable, but I'm sure still better than Yuni's.
  17. If they added Jurrjens, which I don't think is likely. They then could turn around and trade Marcum or Wolf to fill another spot. Then they have another 25 year old ace, that they have locked up until 2014. Again, I highly doubt the Brewers have a chance to get Jurrjens.
  18. I've always liked Matt Murton, and never really understood why he didn't get more of a shot. I would love to see him brought in as a replacement for Kotsay.
  19. Just because their fans like him, doesn't mean their front office likes him.
  20. I'm almost positive that Lee will not be playing any corner outfield.
  21. No thanks to Jack Wilson, he looked terrible when I saw him play w/ the Braves last season. It baffles me that his name even gets brought up anymore. I'd much rather sign a guy like Ronny Cedeno than him. Of the guys you said, Jose Reyes is so far above and beyond all of them on my list. Other than that I would like Alexei Ramirez, and wouldn't hate getting either Alex Gonzales, Rafeal Furcal, Clint Barmes or trading for Jed Lowrie.
  22. Theres a good chance that he will never be even close to the elite player he once was, but it would be a chance I would take as a gm, as long as it didn't take a ton of money. He was an elite player only a few years ago, and is only 29 years old. He also can still play centerfield.
  23. I'd love to get Headley on the Brewers, I think he is very underrated. However, I'm not he's actually going to be available this off-season, and if he is he will cost a lot.
  24. He maybe given away by the Mets but the Brewers shouldn't even entertain the idea. Jason Bay's remaining contract: 12:$16M, 13:$16M, 14:$17M club option ($3M buyout) That is just brutal and you are only getting a .700 OPS out of the guy. I know the stadium that Bay is playing in probably has more to do with his numbers but he is obviously declining and I don't believe he will be worth what he is being paid. The Mets would have to pay at least half of his salary for it to make any sense for the Brewers. How do you know you'd get a .700 OPS out if him? He's had one season like that, but he's had a lot more .900 OPS seasons. Thats why you'd think about taking a risk on him.
  25. Thats why I brought up his name, because it wouldn't take much to get him, and they would have to cover a portion of his contract. He's not that old, and was a great middle of the order hitter as recently as 2009. He'd be a big gamble, but might be worth the risk.
