  1. Great news about Witrado, this off-season keeps getting better. I expect far less posts in this thread now that he is gone.
  2. Great interview. He seems like a very confident person, I hope he ends up winning the 5th starter job out of spring training. He has very good stuff, and could end up being a huge surprise.
  3. I hope he comes into Spring Training w/ a great attitude and blows Roenicke away w/ his talent. I still think he has the ability to be a very good MLB player and I predict he proves it this season. I could see him getting 400-500 plate appearances as a pinch hitter and reserve 3b/1b, corner outfield guy. Unfortunately I wouldn't be surprised if it goes completely the other way.
  4. I'm not sure why Bruesewitz and/or Gasser weren't in the game at the end instead of Jarmusz and Wilson. They both looked so overwhelmed by the pressure Michigan St. was putting on. Tim Jarmusz is my least favorite player in all sports.
  5. I wouldn't mind taking a gamble on Andruw Jones as our 4th outfielder. He had an .827 OPS last year while playing all 3 outfield positions, and only got paid 500k last season.
  6. It's going to be weird seeing you pitch for another team, but I'll be rooting for you. Although until it's official, I'm still holding out hope that you'll return to the Brewers this season. You looked great last season, but here's to you coming back stronger than ever in 2011.
  7. He is one of my favorite relievers to watch and I think he rounds out our bullpen very well. Having Saito, Axford and Braddock at the end of games is going to be fun to watch. Great job Doug Melvin!
  8. If true, I think this is a huge signing. He was the reliever I was hoping the Brewers would get. If he stays healthy, he gives us tremendous insuance at the closer position and will make our bullpen much better.
  9. I would love to see Edmonds brought back. The guy can still hit, and played pretty well in CF last season. As long as he wasn't a clubhouse problem during his time w/ the Crew, I don't really see the down side.
  10. A few other guys who might be available are Jeff Keppinger from the Astros, who is available for trade and Chin-lung Hu from the Dodgers who is out of options. I don't think Keppinger is a very good defender, but Hu was once a top prospect that might be worth taking a flyer on.
  11. Believe me he had nothing to do w/ that win. The Bucks dominated the Lakers last night, it was all them.
  12. I'd love to see the Brewers sign Jeff Francis as the #5 starter, but I'd be slightly surprised after the Greinke and Marcum acquisitions. I think he is very talented and has a great chance to bounce back, especially outside of Coors field.
  13. If he would be open to it, I would definitely extend him. I think it would cost much more than 3 years 51 million.
  14. Here's an informative article from a Royals blog about Betancourt. http://royalsblog.kansascity.com/?q=node/627
  15. First guy for me would be Willie Harris, I think we would fill the 5th outfield/utility spot very well. I like that fact that he can play all 3 outfield positions, and 2B, and besides last year he has been a very solid player for the Nationals. He also had decent power and speed. I also wouldn't mind seeing the Brewers take a chance on Lastings Milledge to compete for the 5th OF spot, he has a lot of talent and can play 3 OF spots. I don't think it would take much to sign him, and hopefully he would play w/ a chip on his shoulder. Second would be to find another veteran reliever. I'd love for the Brewers to get Takashi Saito or Jon Rauch if possible, but if it would cost too much a bounce back candidate like Alfreco Aceves or Manny Delcarmen would be a nice addition.
  16. I would be ok w/ a Pavano signing, I just hope it's not more than 2 years. It would be a big risk at his age, but he's been a pretty good pitcher the last 2 seasons, and was probably the Twins best pitcher last year. I think a rotation of Gallardo, Marcum, Pavano, Wolf and Narveson would be enough to compete next year.
  17. We took our dog to Sandhill pet clinic on East Wash, and always thought it was a very good place.
  18. I know, I'm not putting any stock into it, that's why I said I would be shocked.
  19. Just saw this article from bleacher report. I would be shocked if all it took was Casey Mcgehee to get Garza. I love that were still being mentioned for guys like Garza, even after we got Marcum. This is a very fun offseason so far. http://bleacherreport.com...-garza-for-casey-mcgehee
  20. Adam Loewen might be an interesting guy to take a look at for the rule 5 draft. He had a decent season at AA this year (.763 OPS), and was very good in 50 some AFL ab's (1.104OPS) this year in only his second season since being converted from being a pitcher. I could see him being the PTBNL in the Villanueva deal also.
  21. He was non-tendered by the Dodgers yesterday. I like Lucroy, but I think that Russell Martin would be a significant upgrade behing the plate, especially if he is healthy. He has a very good k/bb ratio and even w/ his drop in power still has a good OBP. He is also considered a pretty good defensive catcher. What do others think of him? Considering his Canadian roots, I'm sure the Brewers will take a look at him.
  22. The only thing I don't like about the Qatar pick is that they get an automatic bid. I think teams should have to be a regular qualifier to be able to host the World Cup. The didn't even get close to qualifying for the 2010 World Cup, so they will probably end up unfairly taking another deserving country's spot, which is total crap. As far as the bribing goes, I'm sure their bribe came in just over what the US tried to bribe them with.
  23. I'm not sure I get what you're trying to say? He has a .911 OPS in over 1500 AAA at bat's, so I'm not sure why I'd look at that one year.
  24. I don't consider a career .841 OPS that crappy.
