  1. I really like what I've seen from Gomez lately. All of a sudden he's shown the ability to work the count and he's starting to get results. Until he backslides I've got no problem with him hitting 2nd.
  2. The Gamel supporters on this site are ruthless. I say it may be a good idea to have someone else on the roster with 1B experience to maybe start "from time to time" and it's immediately stomped on. I'm talking about a bench bat here. How on earth is Xavier Nady "garbage" as a bench player? Is it really that ridiculous to think that maybe it would be nice to have some depth at the position due to Gamel's inexperience and history with injuries?
  3. I can see the guy has no range but he's far from as bad as everyone here made him out to be.
  4. So if they're a dime a dozen why can't anybody find a replacement for him?
  5. I'd really like to be rewarded for sitting here watching this for 4 hours.
  6. Was just going to say...it's not like Chapman is a left-handed specialist, why wait until Fielder? Baker's actually managing a pretty good game.
  7. Hawkins got through it but his curve was lazy and the fastball apparently was barely reaching 90. I'll take the scoreless inning though.
  8. The 2-2 was most definitely a strike. Gallardo didn't deserve either of those baserunners.
  9. Casey's BABIP has to be low this season...gotta look that up. Guess not, .329. Either way it seems like he's had a lot of hard outs.
  10. I actually don't mind the Reds announcers. There's a lot worse out there.
  11. I didn't order my thoughts perfectly. He's always struck me as a power pitcher with a finesse pitcher's mentality. He doesn't look particularly aggressive to me right now. It bothers me when I see guys like Wolf or Narveson attacking hitters and seeing results while Yovani nibbles around the corners trying to avoid contact early in the count.
  12. Like I said earlier, Gallardo gets into these modes where he's super passive and exhibits no confidence. The curve and slider are pretty much always there, he just loses his fastball command and gets behind in counts. His mental game is the problem, not the physical. He was completely different when he shut out Atlanta. He was on a freaking mission that night. Haven't seen him anything close to that since.
  13. I mean, I know Votto kills everyone equally, but you have to try your best to get the guy out...Axford's a good pitcher but Stetter is just tough on all lefties.
