  1. The timing of Hart being ill could've been worse. Hart only has 1 hit in 12 PA vs. Cain in his career. Typical vs. batter small sample size, but I can imagine him having a tough time with his slider. Gallardo's been much better lately, feel good about this one. WEAR THE WHITES!
  2. If Betancourt or Nieves got ABs in that situation I think I would've been looking for a squeeze, but with Lucroy's bat coming off the bench for that AB the squeeze play didn't even occur to me. I can't speak for Bochy but maybe that's what he was thinking. How often does a guy pinch-hit to lay down a bunt in any scenario?
  3. God almighty, can we just go an inning without any catcher collision talk?
  4. You don't see too many pitchers stand right on home plate like Wolf. Sanchez didn't like it, haha.
  5. Bill is such a homer. Whiteside "went after" Fielder, apparently.
  6. RRR should optimize the lineup so McGehee always gets an AB in the 8th inning.
  7. Perfect throw from Burrell there. Guess they didn't expect that.
  8. That's why RRR likes a threat hitting 8th. Go Rickie.
  9. 1. Kotsay was never meant to be full-time. 2. Reed and Almonte made the team because of a hot spring.3. Nieves is RRR's guy. He plays pretty good D and that's all I expect from a backup C. He'll only start once a week or so. But I don't think Rivera's all that bad defensively and he can hit a little. If Rivera is sent out before Nieves I'll be annoyed but not really torn up about it.4. Young players will always be getting the ABs in the minors because they need the experience, not because they're the better hitters at that point in time. It's good to have high standards but subs in the NL have put up this line so far in 2011 - .208/.281/.302. So don't expect everyone on the bench to be able to put up a .700 OPS. It's not easy to do with inconsistent ABs.
  10. I had a small hope that Gomez would be sent down to AAA when Morgan returned. I think that guy needs to experiment offensively without having to worry about results. But I don't feel like getting into that right now. I think Brandon's a useful player, but he just hasn't been used. No point in keeping him on the roster if the manager doesn't use him.
  11. If we go with JonLuc I'll always think of him as Norm Macdonald's frenchmen uncle. I call him LuCROY (accent croy). Sounds nicer than LOOcroy.
  12. Wilson may be on the active squad on Friday but I have to think this is a plug-in move. At least he can handle some IF positions in an emergency should RRR use Counsell early to PH. I'm sure the search for a competent SS is ongoing.
  13. I think the timing is just off. Seems like he's had a million groundouts to the left side. Pulling off the off-speed and just late on the fastball. I thought yesterday was going to be the turnaround for him with a couple solid hits, but given the play-by-play in the JS game blog today I guess it didn't carry into today.
  14. Ax (is it Ax or Axe?) is so fun to watch when he's locating.
  15. Obviously there was some luck there but he's also been hitting well for the past few weeks, including the bomb early tonight. The point is, he put the ball in play and drove in 2 runs. No, he drove in one run and Ed Sedar drove in the second one. I'm totally with you that Lucroy should bat higher than 8th, but using this to aid the horse corpse-beating is just annoying
  16. You people cannot deny the all-around luck on that play. Ball hitting the line, Ramos dropping the ball...aggressive baserunning works there.
  17. What is the story with this Rodriguez guy? How do I not know him? Haha, nice mound visit - "Ok Henry, here's the gameplan - continue to throw 100 mph."
  18. Will the Brewers EVER wear the whites? It's actually starting to bother me, haha. I miss them.
